I've said it everywhere else, will say it here too...awesome video! SUF is definitely one of those strange yet awesome rides! Yes I'm proud to have a crazy machine like this in the area

When the opportunity happens, I'd definitely try out all the different rows...6 being the craziest dosage of airtime, followed by being slammed into your seat in the hardest way possible (which is a good thing)...sudden g-force changes

I was just visiting the Northern California parks last week, then I got home to find TPR videos of the credits I just got. Great video!

As for Superman Ultimate Flight itself, I thought the ride was good but didn't really live up to the hype. Rode twice, tried both the front and back rows, and both times I left thinking "that was fun, but I thought it would be better." Perhaps I'm spoiled by having Xcelerator and Full Throttle at my local parks, or perhaps I just was underwhelmed after waiting over an hour. I'd certainly ride it again, I just wouldn't call it a must ride or travel worthy and still think Medusa is the best coaster in the park.

SFDK locals, I'll be visiting the park sometime in August. I'm having a hard time finding any passholder event info. Magic Mt offers passholder exclusive ride time about once a month. Is SFDK doing anything like that? I might change my trip to take advantage.

Last year, my group stumbled upon a Superman passholder ERT. The same day the park opened Medusa a half hour early to celebrate World Ice Cream Day or something. Anyone could get a wristband if they knew to ask for one at a table in the entry plaza.

The most recent one just passed: "Sunrise with SUPERMAN: On July 20, flash your Season Pass to enjoy exclusive access to SUPERMAN Ultimate Flight and receive a commemorative poster, starting at 9:30 a.m."

The next announcement is July 31st, so the next ERT will most likely be on 8/3 or 8/10. Go to sixflags.com/discoverykingdom and sign up for the newsletter.

Here you go they just announced it:

Go Behind the Scenes of Shark Experience!: On Saturday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., flash your Season Pass to receive a behind the scenes tour of Shark Experience.

Hammerhead Exclusive Ride Time: Flash your Season Pass to enjoy exclusive ride time on Hammerhead from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3.

The Shark Experience backstage tour is a pretty unique perk, I like that. Hammerhead ERT..eh not so much.

I have to work so I can't go, I would really appreciate any photos you are able to take (If they even let you take them backstage)

So now that I got the party started over at CGA thread... let's talk Marine World.

What does everyone think next year will bring?

I think we'll probably see a permanent solution to the Toyota Stadium and possibly a small flat... however it'd be nice to finally see the old 4D buildings back in use.

What do you mean by "A permanent solution"? The stadium seems pretty permanent to me, and I think the fact the stage is on the water is pretty cool. I think its fine the way it is, unless your talking about something different regarding the stadium.

It would be great to see the park do something with the 4d building. I personally think it would be really cool to see a tracked dark ride at the park, maybe using the 4d building as queue or part of the ride its self. But its not something I see happening anytime soon.

Toyota Stadium is the former Shouka stadium.

Sorry, but I am probably not going to bring my camera because of the very fluffy bunnies. I usually bring my camera to SFDK if I can have a non-rider hold on to it when I'm on the "bunnies" enforced rides.

I went to SFDK 2 days ago and I finally went onto Superman. Superman was a really good coaster, though I don't see it as amazing and it barely makes my top 10 list. It just didn't seem to be as intense as I thought it would be and the hangtime is good, though I believe V2's hangtime is more intense. I went on row 1 and 6, so I experienced the most intense seats. I did like Superman, though I don't think it lived up to the hype.

Also, the park's operations seemed a little bit better than last year's operations. I was able to get onto most of SFDK's major coasters without that much of a wait and this was on an August Saturday.

Toyota/Shouka/Pacific Stadium isn't likely to go anywhere. It's the largest venue at the park and is almost always used for something. I doubt they would tear it down for a flat ride or two.

I agree, though I more meant finding a more permanent show for it since Cirque Dreams will be closing up shop soon. Once Cirque Dreams leaves, I'd assume the regular dolphin show will move back to Hawaiian Airlines Stadium. After that, there is once again no use for Pacific Stadium unless it's going to sit there like Chabot and serve as a shadow of the park that once stood there.

The park once stood for mediocre ski shows?

Personally, I think Dolphin Theater should be returned to a stage theater for traditional style stage productions like it was back in the 90s when it was Showcase Theater; and Pacific Stadium should be the dolphin show location as it's a much better venue for marine animal shows.

I was on my way home from Vegas today and getting on the 91W from the 15S about 7 minutes on I noticed these brown supports (Corona area heading West which is toward Knotts and both Six Flags parks). For those not from CA the distance is about 25 mins to Knotts, 80 mins to Magic Mtn and about 7 hours to SFDK. I realize these could be for anything, BUT I cant think of anything other than a coaster where you would use brown as a primary color for a support.

If by all means you know what these are please let me know.

Just got back from the park a bit ago with part of the gang (Blue Fire Guy, JeffyJosephNorcal, neighbor, cousin) and had a pretty solid visit for a busy Summer Sunday. It seemed to be a bit busy due to the fact that school starts this week for many school districts and this is their final moment of fun. But that did not stop us from having a great time at the park and getting a good number of rides in as well as checking out some animals. Sadly, I couldn't find Sharknado, Sharktopus, or Ghost Shark.

We rode the following:

S:UF - 6x (4 10-minute waits, 2 45-minute waits...their crew still baffles me as well as the ride itself and how it produces crazy airtime)

Medusa - 2x (Felt really forceless today even in the back row...Best moments were the drop, coming out the first loop, and the zero g roll)

Roar - 1x (This ride has gotten really bad...like hitting constant potholes)

Kong - 1x (Ka-kong! Ka-kong! Bang-ding-ow! Yup this sums up the ride and was probably my worst ride on it. Coming out the sidewinder element provided a violent shake

Roadrunner Express - 1x (we had our reasons why)

V2 - 1x (My neighbor wanted to punch this after last visit as she fractured her coccyx on it)

We also rode Nairobi's lookout balloon...on this, originally going to each take our own balloon, Blue Fire Guy and I get assigned into the same balloon (after the ride op said 1 adult per balloon) when we decide to get this thing spinning (after getting checked) before the ride starts. As soon as we slowed down and realized the ride hadn't started, we actually felt pretty sick...and the ride hadn't even started yet. The ride itself consisted of us trying to keep the balloon oriented in 1 direction, no spinning.

Also rode VooDoo where the former sludge pit is now a working fountain. This was the first time I had ever seen this function in my entire times of visiting since 1999.

So yea, great day! Random tidbits:

-Early morning Six Flags trivia...lady asks what the fastest coaster is in Six Flags...me thinking nation-wide I raise hand and shout "Kingda Ka" only to find out that the correct answer was Medusa.

-Shark Experience conveyor not working, traffic jam in shark tunnel

-Lots of crowds and people stopping right in front of us...was getting annoying and left me giving several flat tires (stepping on shoes) to members of our party.

-Lots of oversized strollers to dodge

-And a rude lady in an electric scooter telling everyone that "You all are going to have to go around me!" I can't stand entitled people like that.

Here bright and early!

My neighbor doesn't like V2 anymore...time to give it a punch!

IMG_6074.thumb.jpg.94f2fba49b5270c80d1f8f058ec6288d.jpg

The group, at S:UF!

IMG_6073.thumb.jpg.eba91b554193d8fdb9a2280b691a8368.jpg

Jeff looks completely exhausted. This ride will wake him up!

WAKE UP JEFF!

And then this happened...Somebody's getting a new credit today!

IMG_6081.thumb.jpg.f1ef057d877b9f5246578c64de70fa1a.jpg

My cousin and neighbor signed up to participate in the dolphin encounter, where they can pet and interact with dolphins. Pretty neat stuff!

Cheese! Let's eat it!

Back at S:UF...crowds got so busy it was time to bust out that second train!

IMG_6123.thumb.jpg.ef6723eeabb485b57051d40f633e4302.jpg

And into the butterfly room...Yup, more butterfly porn is about to happen!

IMG_6140.thumb.jpg.584d0d8b3dc926d341ac354ee50bca2d.jpg

Control panel porn, since we're on the topic of porn.

IMG_6135.thumb.jpg.e67c209bc65313cfb5775ad34bf8f779.jpg

Medusa's 3rd train is getting worked on...could hear them working on it!

IMG_6133.thumb.jpg.0a8f3e6349c1e7a0fd7facc0c2f927a3.jpg

Let's go ride this thing...why?

IMG_6132.thumb.jpg.3255d6c6269d1a4935525bb0a49442e4.jpg

#YOLO! That's why!

IMG_6106.thumb.jpg.217a23519dbdd7d4f3b8d712514eb5a4.jpg

Venturing into the Shark Experience to find the fabled Sharktopus, Sharknado, and Ghost Shark...

IMG_6107.thumb.jpg.4f2342c5a730564a88a6f1e1f8a49176.jpg

But found these instead. It is Shark Week at SFDK...why no Sharktopus for shark week?

IMG_6109.thumb.jpg.7259a8658c2010416dcbd6383eb56173.jpg

The evil spinning balloon ride that left Blue Fire Guy and I completely drained and unable/unwilling to spin before the cycle even started.

IMG_6145.thumb.jpg.926c92b879c351db3c5c2d84cddf4eda.jpg

And I end the visit with a true Clench 'n Squish in SFDK's tram...yes, all 5 of us just made it on a single bench :)
