Scaparri Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 ^It is still on their site. I must say, it kind of surprises me though that they aren't making a bigger deal about having the most coasters of any park again.
timetrial3141592 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 If they put Zonga back the way it was when it was Thriller, then we could really enjoy Anton's masterpiece. It WAS more intense...
V2-dude Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 ^I don't think many people (GP) will like 6.7g's. That's the reason they modified it in the first place.
Jew Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Atleast I got to ride it so I'm happy. Why are you happy you rode Zonga? That's seriously the worst ride ever.
man Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Dude zonga sucks big headbanger there and I only have seen it open once out of all the times I went there and I go at least two times a year every summer
CoasterPeep7 Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 ^ Please use punctuation To me, Zonga looks like a POS. But, I have never ridden it... ^I don't think many people (GP) will like 6.7g's. That's the reason they modified it in the first place. Maybe they were trying too kill us...
ebl Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I doubt SFMW would get a flyer, but then there are two floorless coasters in the same state (Scream! and Medusa), so anything's possible. It'd be nice if SFMW got XLR8. From what I've heard, XLR8 is rather boring, but Arrow suspended coasters are few and far between, so it's worth saving in my opinion. Eric
V2-dude Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I think a flyer would be good too, since Stealth was popular when it was still at PGA, but I still think Zonga is just getting new trains.
DejaVu4Life Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Dude zonga sucks big headbanger there and I only have seen it open once out of all the times I went there and I go at least two times a year every summer And on top of the head banging, it was also very cramped, no legroom or shoulder room. I guess I was lucky to have hit it when I was out there, especially when some locals haven't ridden it.
Jeezus Juice Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I thought Zonga kicked ass. I don't get the headbanging at all! Is something wrong with me? As long as you don't ride in a cramped rear seat. It's seriously my favorite coaster at SFMW. I used to go every week for an hour or two just to jump on it a few times. I only went to the park twice in 05 because Zonga was down. I don't get the new train theory. There is a stack of trains by Roar's transfer track, what the crap is wrong with those? The ride is almost as old as I am, I think any train problems would've been fixed by now. I think the problem is with Six Flags and their staffing issuses and maintenance budget... -Don
V2-dude Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 They are either getting new trains, or they are goin to modify the ones they have. The ride ops on V2 told me they were going to redo the headrests to prevent headbanging. That train next to ROAR's transfer is one of the original Texas Tornado trains. Another one can be seen between V2 and Monsoon Falls.
Jew Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 ^uhh...yeah....new trains...that's it. They should be ready to go in a few weeks...
Angry_Gumball Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Atleast I got to ride it so I'm happy. Why are you happy you rode Zonga? That's seriously the worst ride ever. One more ride added to my ride list...and when I rode it, I'll admit it was quite rough but not unridable for me. Both my brother and I rode it and enjoyed it. We only rode it opening year though so I don't know if it got worse than it was.

Another one can be seen between V2 and Monsoon Falls. There are no original trains from Thriller/Texas Tornado. All 4 were retrofitted in 2002 and one was used for parts since the ride was reduced to running 4 trains in 1999.
man Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I was suprised it wasnt a vekoma and now one thing to say... imma sue marine world they said zonga ment crazy or somtin hears what it says on rcdb "Zonga is Swahili for "coil" or "loop" those evil people lol just kidding
Rollerholden Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 I'm kind of surprised sfmw hasn't officially announced their plans...
man Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 yea they never do untill the last minute if I go up to tahoe I drive past there so I might be able to get a quick look
Rollerholden Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 if I go up to tahoe I drive past there so I might be able to get a quick look Did you? I'm really curious.
USCoaster Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I'll drive by it tomorrow and see if there is anything to get pictures of.
speedracer Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I thought it was already known that for 06' they'd be adding a new kids area (pg. 18 ): http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/701374/000095011705003997/a40662.htm As far as XLR8, please don't send that POS to SFMW. It's far and away the most boring of the Arrow suspendeds, I'd even take Iron Draggin' over this. Besides, SFMW doesn't have a huge open plot of land to slap it up, any new coasters will have to be custom designed to fit into what little available open space there is. Now for 07' bring on that B&M Mega Coaster! 150ft tall, build the lift on that hilltop where the Iwerks theater is and drop it all the way down to where Kong/Cobra are and you have yourself a 170-180ft first drop! And SFOG's Goliath is a great example of how the rest of the layout can be designed in and around existing rides/walkways (they can also remove Kong for all I care to open up plenty of additional room at the bottom of the hill).
Gnome Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 or they can remove Boomerang! I'd rather see kong still there as oppose to boomerang. Remember that Kong is the only SLC in california or on the west coast for that matter, but there is another boomerang at knotts, a giant boomerang at SFMM, and an inverted Boomerang at PGA, the last thing that SFMW needs is a boomerang.
speedracer Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Meh, they can remove both of em for all I care. That might be possible though to have it drop from the hilltop down to where Boomerang is, then have the rest of the layout over the rapids, could be doable.
Gnome Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I also wish that if they get rid of Zonga, they strip it of all its original mechanics, and have some one like Premier basically redo the whole ride, and they can re-modify the restraint system to have it more like what they have on olympia looper to help get rid of that nasty head banging.
coastered Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Your right, Just help them getting rid of that headbanging. But DON'T let them remove that great piece of Schwartzkopf coaster history.
Angry_Gumball Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Well, I was just read over at NorCalCoasters.net about SFMW's press release. It can be found here Basically, it's a new kiddy area. To be perfectly honest, it sounds like they're re-theming some of their current rides and adding a rock-n-tug and 2 others. The rest of the ride's descriptions match their current rides they already have in Looney Tunes Sea Port.[/url]
