fatdaddy
Six Flags Magic Mountain invited us to check out this seasons Holiday in the Park event, which has been growing in popularity over the past few years. The decorations and lights start at the park entrance and continue in different locations around the park. Endless numbers of brightly colored holiday lights decorate the park, along with holiday character interactions, music, shows, falling snow, and you can even roast s'mores over a fire pit. There are also holiday food items available throughout the park, including a holiday hot beverage cup that is refillable with hot chocolate or hot apple cider. Holiday treats range from the traditional pumpkin pie, tamales, and gingerbread, to holiday themed park foods like Mint Cookie Crunch Dippin' Dots, Pumpkin Pie flavored shakes, and Cranberry Sweet Chili Wings. A selection of holiday flavored fudge, peppermint bark, and other holiday themed confections is also available if you like your holidays covered in chocolate. Stop by Katy's Kettle for a turkey leg dinner, a Mac n' Cheeseburger, Mac n' Cheese stuffed baked potato...MAC N' CHEESE!!! Remember to get a Holiday in the Park guide map to lead you to all the holiday food. As if the lights, and food weren't enough, they've also included a ton of entertainment. The holiday themed Kwerkmas show in the new Gleampunk District has music, dancing, and acrobatics. Snowy Nights in Full Throttle Plaza includes live holiday music from the Mistletones, Tinsel Toy Dancers, a DJ, and more. The light show in DC Universe with thousands of programmed lights is always amazing, with three different shows to see, one starting every 15 minutes. Holiday Square at the park entrance features Looney Toons character interactions, carolers, and snowfall every 20 minutes. The new Santa's Star Spangled Plaza is located just outside of The New Revolution with stiltwalking toy soldiers, a giant lighted christmas tree, and the new Santa's Wild Sleigh Ride VR coaster, where you take a wild ride with Santa on his sleigh. Of course, remember visit Santa in Winter Wonderland. Again, get the HIP park guide so you don't miss anything. The event takes place November 19-27, December 3,4,10,11,17-24,26-31, and January 1. Holiday in the Park begins at 5 pm. Make sure to add this to your holiday activity list, bring the kid to see Santa, see a show, eat some treats. We got to sample all the Holiday food and experience the great live entertainment. Very impressed and on par with other holiday events in the area. I highly recommend the gingerbread cheesecake, and the hot cider makes it feel like it's holiday time. The VR sleigh ride with Santa is not to be missed! This event truly gets better every year. Thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for inviting us to this awesome event! And pictures... Holiday in the Park! Shouldn't there be a moose out front instead? Flakey! Get one of these if you want to know everything there is to do and where to find it. Bugs decked out for the holidays Photo op. Ready to start the holiday fun! You can take a virtual ride along with Santa in his sleigh! Really the holiday VR is awesome, great graphics and you finally know what it's like to ride with Santa! Unlit, but still nice. Something goes here. Apparently Jennifer likes to creep around in the bushes and take pictures of dirt. HIP, but you don't need to be a hipster, please don't be a hipster. My favorite item, you need this! Wings are always good. If you like sweet potatoes, eat this! Corn with stuff, just try it. We tried a little of everything. Tamales! Holiday dog had mayo, which I'm not a fan of, but it wasn't bad. So much talk about trimming the tree, but have you trimmed your bush? Moving on. The rest of him got eaten by zombies at Fright Fest. Nice! Lit! Do this! Lines got long for the VR Santa sleigh ride, but totally worth the wait. Magical! My favorite item, you need this! Wings are always good. Still working, more to come... Trees looking a little sad, lots of lights out...FIX IT!!! Live entertainment!
fatdaddy
Back at it... Gleampunk District. Photo op and live entertainment here. You need to see this, gives a whole new meaning to staring at the wall. Steampunk Santa. Oh yeah! I know what that red light means! It means the bulb is red. Twisted Colossus ready for the holidays. Please do not lick the peppermint guy, it makes him sticky. I know when you are sleeping, I know when you're awake, I also know what you had for lunch because I have xray eyes. Robot Santa! Dancing. Singing, which I'm not a fan of, but if you like it, then this is the show for you. KwerkMas! Some kind of reverse firefighters, they go up the pole instead of down and they don't put out fires either. Trapeze! Um, moving on... Not a hulahoop. Fire! It's magic! Unfortunately he was eaten alive by killer bees at the end of the show, or he did a snowflake trick, one of those two. Dude is wearing a cape. Caught in a new or something, kept flipping over and spinning around, eventually got out, or maybe it was on purpose. Entertaining either way. Trampoline guys were the best! I would watch a show of just them. Still working, taking a break, be right back...
Jason Maier
So what was the weather like for HITP? (at Six Flags America when I went for HITP on Sunday . . . . it was about 41 degrees and WINDY)
fatdaddy
Doing this from my car by the way... If the Universe is Rockin', don't come a knockin', or something. But really come see the light show. Tree. Three different shows, one every 15 minutes, all worth a look. Stand here! So many lights! More trimmed bush! Even Tatsu is in the holiday spirit. Lollipop, lollipop, oh...hey they got turkey legs over here! Don't worry about dinner, Mrs. Clause has it covered. Probably covered with Mac n' Cheese, but covered none the less. Buy this, hot cider makes me happy! On the menu for HIP. Gifts for good girls and boys...and hot chicks, don't forget the hot chicks! Find Santa here. Waiting for your Christmas list. The jolly fat man himself! NO! Not me! I said "jolly" fat man. Fun for the kids! Excellent sloth sweater. Who wouldn't trust a guy who has a sloth sweater and fire? I prefer to hold my marshmallows out on X2 and wait for the fire. Joking, really. The white lights of Winter Wonderland. In case you forgot. Please do not lick the peppermint guy... Not sure what she's supposed to be, but her hair is green and that makes it festive. Wait, isn't Jaguar at...oh, different jaguar. Smore's! Peppermint everything! Bacon and Mac n' Cheese on a hamburger...OH...YEAH! Cinnamon Bun Batter ice cream is great! My favorite was the cheesecake, need to go back and get more. Just a little sampling, a little. Okay we overdid it a little. A little window shopping, but since they won't sell me the window, I'll take a shirt. Festive HIP sweatshirt. Lots of holiday swag. Need this! Take your pick! Holiday Santa poop hats...AWESOME!!! The majestic water tree. The most colorfully lit area of the park is at the entrance. Those random snow flurries in SoCal...every 20 minutes actually. Well, that's all I have, thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain for putting on such a wonderful event and inviting us to sample and experience all it has to offer. I would also like to thank Jennifer (berryfarm) for helping out, about half of the pictures were hers and she did an excellent job. If you want a holiday even that has little of everything, check out Holiday in the Park, you won't be disappointed! Thanks for looking, leave a comment! Often times 50's and maybe if you're lucky 40's too but those are pretty rare. But it's 56 now so 50s aren't uncommon.
alexinla
SFMM really did a good job with this event! I could just go for the food
larrygator
Although we have waffles at SFGAdv for HITP, the food offerings at SFMM sound intriguing also
boldikus
Thanks for the great photos as always. When I eventually get out west to visit Magic Mountain, I think I'd like to go during HITP, it looks great. All the coasters are open, yes? Sorry if I missed that, this fat kid is too distracted by all the food photos.
fatdaddy
Yup, all coasters open, and riding in the dark is always a bonus.
berryfarm
This is my first press event for TPR. I thought SFMM did a wonderful job coordinating this event. The food was good, the goodie bag is cool (I love the ornament) and the staff were really nice. For me the best part of the event was the Santa's Wild Sleigh Ride VR for the New Revolution! The attention to detail is noticable with a cool story line and crisp graphics.
prozach626
Wow. Those trees look great. Santa's sleigh ride seems like a clever concept for VR.
