GigaG Posted July 9, 2014 Share Posted July 9, 2014 I just watched the episode that features Gatekeeper. I have to say the ride was extremely exaggerated IMHO. They listed it as having a lot of airtime and being very forceful. Which, I thought had none of those. I did ride it in the beggining of the season. So, I'm sure it had warmed up since then. It has airtime, and it would be decent, fly-out-of-your-seat-but-not-too-intense airtime, but the new restraints sorta mess it up. Forceful? Well, it sorta is in the giant "Norwegian combo" (That's what I call it, since it is a COMBO of separate inversions that vaguely resemble a NORWEGIAN loop)... GK, MF, and Mantis are the only rides that have made me partially grey out at CP. I guess it is because you brace yourself for super-forceful elements like Raptor's helix. Imiha Posted July 9, 2014 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Is it just me, or does anyone else have a feeling that Europe coaster riders rank their rides lower than Americans rank theirs? I find that Europe rides (I'm sure about Katun and iSpeed in previous season, since they are much better coasters than the ones that had similar score) are underscored compared to the ones in USA, but maybe it's just me. That will always be tough to control, unless the show had everyone riding all the coasters featured in an episode and that's not really happening. I don't know of anywhere they can be streamed legally yet, but amazon instant video has seasons 1 and 2 so I assume they will have season 3 at some point. Superman: El Ultimo Escape looks like a lot a fun, but not better than Raptor or Goliath. So far the lowest scoring coaster is a B&M! WHATTTT. Other interesting facts include... White Cyclone scored higher than Steel Dragon 2000 Raptor scored 1 point less than gatekeeper Outlaw Run is in 1st place for the highest scoring coaster of the season by only 1 point (La Avalancha is 1 point behind) Superman Attracion de Acero scored the same as Raptor Coaster Express scored 1 point more than Silver Star yeah. Some of the scores have really shocked me, most were mentioned above. Edit - I actually prefer GateKeeper over Raptor slightly,. I know I'm in the minority on that one. The scoring system is cool, just because it adds a different element to a coaster show. There is also some great footage. That being said, everything else is crap. Things that bother me about the show: Cheesy announcer and over the top comments Stupid comments from the coaster "enthusiasts" Cheesy rock music during the coaster footage No good technical information aside from "This coaster will spin you head over heels!" You could use a U.S proxy to access them on youtube to buy them. Or you could create a U.S itunes account and buy them on there, no need for proxy then, just create a U.S account to use on the U.S itunes store. I mean, they're taking random people, calling them "enthusiasts", and having them score one ride. If it were the same group of riders riding each ride and then scoring I'd probably take it more seriously. LOL. I mean, one girl even said "My friend is making me ride today and I hate coasters" (or something along that line), and they had "Coaster enthusiast" under her name. People in Europe might be a bit more prone to give their rides a lower score? Silver Star looks like it should be great, but it's actually rather boring--one of B&M's weaker rides (at least to me).
