thrillrider Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Being from the states, the answer for me would be either Disney or Universal studios. But what other parks out there are heavy in the theme dept? Is there a park that has more/better theaming than Disney or Universal?
GoBears Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I went to WDW's parks a long time ago so I don't remember them too well but Disney and Universal definitely do an amazing job with theming. My favorite park is Islands of Adventure because it includes such different themed areas throughout, yet pretty much every section is themed in detail. I haven't been to many parks but I've heard that both Busch parks, specifically BGW, are very beautiful and have good theming.
rctneil Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Some of the parks that I have thought are well themed:  Busch Gardens Williamsburg - Very very well landscaped and it's nice just wandering around Universal parks, I love the studio feeling around the parks  But the crown for this subject has to go to: Tokyo DisneySea. This is the most spectacular park on the planet. The level of detail is outstanding. You notice something new or clever or well thought out at every turn!
Chip422 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I agree with Neil. Â The most incredibly themed park is Tokyo DisneySea. The entire place is amazing, nothing left undone. Theming everywhere. A park not to be missed!
Woodie Warrior Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Universal and Disney always get chosen but I have to go with Silver Dollar City.
booink Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Disney of course, but I have to say that I liked Cedar Point's Western section (with Maverick) pretty much !

rctneil Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I have to say I did forget about SDC and Dollywood as those are superbly themed as well but DisneySea beats all in this topic.
thrillrider Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 I have always wanted to get over the pond to Tokyo Disney/sea. Never heard a negative thing about it.
Nrthwnd Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 For myself, TOKYO DISNEY SEA is the ultimate in themeing and literally "taking you away to other places and times". The park hides it's show buildings perfectly, and the transitions from one "land" to the other really can't be beat. Â Looking at overhead photos of both this park and TDL (or any park), it really shows you how much "backstage" they hide from the gp. Â Every other park in the world I have been to, does not compare at all, where Disney Sea is concerned. Then, there's a little attraction like this to make TDS (IMHO) The Best Themed Park Ever. GO Lava Monster!
bert425 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I haven't ever been overseas, or to here. . but isn't Dollywood heavily themed? Â every pic I've seen of the park is beautiful, and keeps with it's "mountainy" theme.
thrillrider Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Dollywood has some great theaming, but nothing like the theaming at Universal or Disney(ok, maybe frontier land).
Nrthwnd Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 ^^ My actual "problem" in comparison, is that I am the reverse of you, and have been to hardly any of the US parks, especially those in the midwest, southeast, northeast. All of mine have pretty much been overseas, lol. Still.... Â Once you've been to Disney Sea, you're just blown away, right from when you walk in and see that harbor and Mt.Prometheus in front of you. And you haven't even ridden anything, yet!

I think I have ridden more coasters in Japan then the US. Â Back on topic, it would be pretty hard to find a more or better themed park then DisneySea!
thrillrider Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 I really need to join TPR on a trip over seas.
IronWolfman Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I say Disney Sea or the new Ocean Kingdom park are the best candidates.
SharkTums Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Can't think of anything that even comes close to DisneySea.
SingleRiderCam Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I have to say EPCOT because I haven't been to Tokyo DisneySea yet. Edited February 7, 2014 by SingleRiderCam
djboss302 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I would have to say the best themed park I've been to is Epcot. I do like CP's Frontier Town though.
Nrthwnd Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Actually, my Top Three in this category are...  1 - Tokyo Disney Sea  2 - EPCOT  3 - Efteling Park (the landscaping alone makes this a standout for me)
Ryan P. Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 EPCOT definitely takes the win for theming as a whole, but if I were to chose a land, I would go with the WWoHP. I felt in Harry's world! Where else can you go and feel like you are in the movies and books! I can only imagine what Avatar will look like and other similar projects! A non Disney/ Universal park that had great theming is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It reminds me of EPCOT because of the countries but with great roller coasters as well.
gerstlaueringvar Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 SDC and Ocean Kingdom together with HKD, USH, DCA and Disneyland.
Mrlittle Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I have not been to Tokyo Disney Sea so I will say another park but its at the top of my list to go. So I will give more love to IOA. Even before the Harry Potter days, I always thought the park had great theming all around. Even the silly Toon Lagoon island. As runner-ups I say SDC and Dollywood but they kind have an advantage with both having beautiful surroundings.
Aceattack52 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I'm going to say it's going to be a Disney park (not any one in particular). Disney sells not because the rides are huge or the best, but because of the theming.
thrillrider Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 I wonder how the new harry potter land will stack up against these other parks?
