robbalvey
Love the updates! How is it that most parks look to be deserted on your Asian trips? Is it because you try to plan the trips on slow days, or are the parks really that empty all the time? We plan for it. Japanese schools don't get out until first week of July, and we leave Japan on July 7th! Parks like Tokyo Disney and Universal are busy all the time, but we just got lucky at Universal due to bad weather this time around, however, that actuall worked in our favor! downunder
^Wishing you the best with Fuji-Queue, hopefully you get a great day there. I wish I could have gone on this, but work decided I couldn't have leave before 30 June. Damn these Japanese parks are so fascinating. Bring on Texas Midwest as my alternate for this year. jray21
It really is a great time to go! It is the rainy season, but having barely any lines is awesome, and you don't have the full heat and humidity. Can't wait to see more!

gisco
Ridden 4 different ones. The one at Rusutsu with the dive loop was the best. What day will you be riding that one on this trip?

bert425
We rode an Ultra Twister yesterday at Nagashima Spaland! Have you ever been on one? What did you think? THANK YOU you have no idea what wonderful memories you just brought back for me. I grew up less than 2 miles from Astroworld, and had a Season Pass from the time I was 7, until ~1995 (so about 21 years. . heck yeah, I even kept getting a pass even after I moved up to Austin, so I could go when I came into town to visit my parents). anyways, I used to LOVE the Ultra Twister at Astroworld, and since that closed, I've never even seen video of the same ride. Even the one TPR has on YouTube is the "continuous" one. . .not this one here, that has that wonderful, ball-crushing, *CLUNK* as it drops backwards to do the lower level back into the station. funny, the Astroworld Ultra-Twister always had a huge line (and in those days, no Flash-Passes yet). . but I don't recall ever waiting more than 15-20 minutes for it. I dunno if that's great park management (I doubt it), or just good teamwork on quick loading (more likely). . but yeah. .thanks for the awesome memories here, Robb! (One day, I'll get to come on a TPR trip)
jray21
I've gone on 3. All of them in Japan, but not the one at Rusutsu yet. I'm dying to try that one. Great video, can't wait to see more!
Ccron10
Cool update! Cosmoworld is a park that is absolutely on my "must-do" list. The setting, night time lighting and cool-looking rides make it seem unique. It is also always great to see the parks get in on the fun as well! They seem awesome. EDIT: For some reason, this post seems to be going before the Cosmoworld update instead of after it. I originally made this post at around 12:24PM. robbalvey
Our next park was Yokohama Cosmoworld, which has become one of our favorite parks in Japan to visit. It's such a fantastic setting, and has such a wide variety of rides and amazingly bizarre "Japanese" attractions - roller coasters, Giant Ferris wheels, dark rides, walk-throughs, flat rides, etc. The park itself carries such a great "vibe" being right in the heart of Yokohama. Fantastic place, and the fact that the park management seems to love when we come to visit is always a plus! Onto some photos... Walking from the station to the park, and you see a backdrop like this, you know the park is going to be awesome! The park management not only reads TPR, but they know the site very well! Here was our "welcome" sign! lol This is AMAZING!!! Mr. Kitagawa, who said he's been reading TPR for more than ten years, says "Welcome TPR!" "Hi, Elissa...hows it going?" TPR is starting our morning with some "park ERT" beginning with some rides on Diving Coaster Vanish! It's called Diving Coaster Vanish because the train dives under water and disappears! Diving Coaster does this to TPR members! DIVE! DIVE!!!! And away she goes! SKLOOSH!!!! TPR Members take the dive on Vanish! We had ERT on the log flume, which may very well be one of the craziest log flumes anywhere! You are seriously HAULING ASS when you get to this point! And you want to SCREAM! And SCREAM YOUR ASS OFF!!! The louder you scream coming down the drop, the more points you get! TPR totally dominated the scream contest! Even KidTums loved it! Cosmoworld has a HUGE Senyo Ferris Wheel. Seriously, this thing is freaking MASSIVE! Our park ERT continues on the spinning mouse... And then we move over to the totally awesome and extreme "Family Banana Coaster!" "It doesn't matter how much I have to clench & squish...it's a credit!" Mr. Kitagawa invited everyone to come into the -30 degree Ice House attraction.... We got everyone inside... Got them all squished into the FREEZING COLD attraction... Watched on the security cameras to make sure they were all in... ...And then we freaking LOCKED THE DOOR and left them all in there!!! LOLOLOL!!!! After the group was done hating us for freezing them...we let them have some ERT on the Disk-O! Steve does NOT agree with the parks "no beer" policy! The setting of Cosmoworld really is seriously amazing! The park is situated right next to the Yokohama Landmark Tower, which is the tallest building in Japan. Cosmoworld is home to several dark rides and haunted walk-through attractions. All of them are interesting or unique in their own right. ALL BOW DOWN TO MEAT COW!!! Yes! The "meat animals" capsule machine is still here! TPR pretty much sold out the Meat Cow machine! Several "meat animals" were acquired this day. KidTums is loving all the massive arcades at Cosmoworld. Keep these dudes in the cage where they belong!!! If you're a fan of random Japanese animation, you need to visit here! This reminds me of that Simpsons episodes where they all go to Japan, but eat at the American restaurant! TPR had an AWESOME visit to Cosmoworld! Huge thank yous to the park and Mr. Kitagawa for being awesome hosts! Some of us had a bit too much fun apparently! Onto the next part of our Japanese adventure... LoneRider92
Cosmoworld does have a great setting, and any owner that is a fan of TPR is okay with me. That photo of Elissa is priceless. The Ultra Twister looked fun and bizarre (as they always do). The one I really like to see is the Rusutsu model, since it looks so amazing (that video you guys did on it a few years ago got me hooked). I wish some manufacturers would look into doing an improved version of that 'continuous' model. That would be terrific. The trip is looking great and I can't wait to see more Japan-ness. Um, I was wishing them a good day there in spite of Fuji Q's reputation. I'm thinking reports of a good day for lines at FQ are a bit of an urban legend, though with fast passes, and R & E's expertise, the odds of a good day are greatly improved. It's a park I'd like to go to in spite of all the bad reports, they have some coasters of interest to me like Euthenasia, the Togo Terror, and the so-fast-you-go-back-in-time Dodonpa.
