deathbydinn
I'm on as jongrundl. I only just started playing a few days ago so my town is still pretty small, but I do have a few houses with Christmas lights on them.
robbalvey
So I managed to finally get Santa's Little Helper today and I gotta be honest, it's a bit anti-climatic to have gone through the trouble to get all those coins, go through all those tasks, go to all those friends towns every day, only to get a character that doesn't actually do anything. Â I kinda feel that he shouldn't have been the "grand finale" of the Christmas tasks. I would have rather it been the bowling alley, because at least you got a cool building with a character that does stuff. All Santa's Little Helper does is play an animation and bark. Yay. Like, even the Krusty Studio or something that at least adds to the game for all that additional effort. Â Wondering if maybe they'll add one more thing before the holiday stuff is done, but I wouldn't count on it. Â --Robb

robbalvey
What amazes me about those numbers above, is that if these are real, and they do have between 6-7 million players (basing it off the number of Kwik-E-Marts placed assuming some people may have more than one) then that really speaks volumes for the iOS platform. This game isn't available on any other mobile platform, and if you look at something like Halo 4 having just shy of 6 million players (I realize it just came out a couple of weeks ago), it really makes me believe how much mobile gaming is going to very soon give consoles some serious competition. Â Just two years ago, any mobile game having 6-7 million players was unheard of, and you'd get laughed out of a conference room during a pitch meeting if you tried to make that claim. vuurvogel
As a responce on the console gaming. I own a playstation and used to play a lot. But if I look at when I use it now, it is mostly to play dvd and blu-ray. Once in a while I will play a great title, but most of the time I like to play the old games on them. Sure graphics are not that great, but the gameplay is better with the old games. And although I only play tapped out for a week now, it is a great game. And this perspective I think gaming will indeed move into this direction and consoles will have to come with some really great gimmick to survive this evolution. Or else they will become 'dinosaurs'. robbalvey
Still can't justify buying the Santa's Village at the new sale price. If I'm going to spend 200 donuts I'll buy Duff Beer or the Volanco Lair which comes with an actual character, not a costume. Â Also, I noticed in this new update they fixed the Barney task so there is now a 4hr and an 8hr Barney task. Â Did anyone notice any other fixes? I don't know if EA has a "change log" for the new update or not....
OldJJman
I just got the update about 15 minutes ago. When I did, my Moe's was completed (getting Moe and Marge), so I sent everybody on tasks that popped up: marge, Barney, Homer, Duffman, and Cletes. Seemed like a lot of tasks, all were either 8 or 12 hrs. Â I did notice the Barney difference, but that was it.

Rastuso
Santas Village is a waste. I get almost 300 coins a day from friends now, so who needs 25 more? Â With what I've seen, visitng the random friends, there are some hardcore players, obviously buying lots of donuts, but most are buying nothing. I'd love to know what percentage of those players you posted have spent anything. Or, what percent have spent more than what it costs EA to support you, server costs, project overhead, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if that number is in the single digits. Â I think if EA was less gredy on donut costs, they'd make more. If Frink labs was $2, I'd have bought it for sure. Â I think the donut buyout on action time is the slimiest theing they possibly could have done. How many times have people mistakenly hit that and lost 2-4 donuts. I did once, and just barely caught it a second time. The Smurf game has minigames. If Scorpio's lair unlocked a shooter minigame, shooting intruders into the volcano, James Bond style, or Santa's Village had a Happy Little Elves side scroller, or something like that, then I'd maybe pay a few bucks. But $10 for essentially nothing, there's no way. Â Tapped Out could be a Simpson's mini-game hub that could sell TONS more than just a stand alone 99 cent Happy Little Elves game release would. Â Please send my idea check to my Paypal account, EA. Â -R

The Mapple Store and the Bowling Alley were way cooler than the Funzos and Santa's Little Helper. I almost think they should have done the whole Christmas process in reverse order. (i.e., you start out getting Santa's Little Helper, and your finale is getting a Mapple Store for your town)

ernierocker
Yeah, I got the one you could get with donuts, now I am just saving up coins for Santa's Little Helper. Don't think there is anyway I will get far enough in the progression of the game to unlock the Muntz house or Krabapple's Apartments, so no Christmas Lights for those guys. I am just now building the church, LOL!
jray21
Yeah, like Robb said, getting Santa's Little Helper was so anti-cllimatic. I spent a ton of stupid time visiting people and getting coins for a dog that does nothing. The bowling alley would have been a much better 'ending.'  Im at 98 friends, could that be why? I thought the limit though was 100 or something. =/  I was running into the same problem and just figured the stupid thing out. It showed I had 97 friends, but I couldn't add anyone else and always got an error, then I realized it said I have 97 friends playing Simpsons Tapped Out. So I scrolled all the way down the list and found 3 friends who were on the list, but not playing Simpsons Tapped Out. So when you request friends, you are requesting anyone who has a login with Origin. To delete, go to Friends, then My Friends. Scroll all the way down and find the people who are not playing Simpsons and top on their name. Click Profile, then the "+" symbol, and remove friend.  I'm also a little surprised the Gil addition happened, looks like this guy was somewhat right. The dates are off, and some other promos didn't show up, but it would be interesting if some when/if the other promos show up. I'm sure they put a bunch out, and depending on sales they pulled some back.  http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9160321.page  Oh I forgot. Wallmart is having a 20% off sale for a $50 iTunes gift card. Great deal, even if you don't use it for the Simpsons game. It was up as of 1:05pm PST, Dec. 19.  http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?dest=9999999997&product_id=17753320&sourceid=17561917101149070616&veh=aff&wmlspartner=lw9MynSeamY Edited December 19, 2012 by jray21

ernierocker
I was thinking today it would be cool if they would come up with a paid download for the Halloween special content they had. For some reason like me who started playing in the past month, I get jealous because I don't have a kick-ass cemetery or UFO flying around my town. For some reason like me who started playing in the past month, I get jealous because I don't have a kick-ass cemetery or UFO flying around my town. Â Along this line of thinking- Â For those that were playing during the Halloween stuff, didn't you have to acquire candies to get those extra goodies? If so, what happened to your leftover candies when the Christmas update happened? Â I'm just wondering because I have over 1100 coins and was wondering what happens to them in the next update - like, do they rollover? I really don't want to buy the second funzo, just on principle. (HATE that stupid thing!!) wonder if I can store it?
robbalvey
^ The candies just disappeared when the update auto-downloaded that got rid of Halloween. So if you have them, and you don't want to spend them, you're going to just lose them. Â I'm still "hopeful" that they will add something else to buy with the coins on Christmas or something. jray21
I hope that extending the date doesn't mean no new updates for a while. I'm all done with the Christmas stuff, and there's nothing new for me until another update. I'm almost up to $1 million again, and don't really need to buy anything else.  Edit: Just saw this on their Facebook page.  In order to make some necessary improvements to our servers we will be performing server maintenance on December 19, 2012 between the hours of 9PM and 11 PM Pacific Standard Time. During this time some players may find that they experience the following: • Inability to connect to the server • Game crashing • Friends List disappears • Getting logged out of your origin account and being unable to log back in  Please remember that your account, friend list, and towns are all saved and will be available once maintenance is over.  Once maintenance is over, if you have been logged out you can find detailed log in instructions below: https://help.ea.com/article/my-springfield-is-missing-in-the-simpsons-tapped-out  Thank you & Happy Holidays!  How is this any different than any other time? robbalvey
^ To be fair, it's been working pretty solid this past week or so. I just wish EA would have come right out and say "During the first few days of the Christmas update, we will be undergoing beta testing. Thank you for being part of this, and please be patient during any outages that may occur. Your help is appreciated." Â Because that is what actually happened. Those first 5 days or so for this update was really the "beta test" period, but of course they didn't bother to tell anyone or be honest with their paying customers. Â F**king EA. SharkTums
I feel like they'll have to do something before the May Whacking Day Update. They forced everyone to add so many towns to get Santa Coins which also got everyone a ton of XP, and now we're all about to finish the game. I'm hoping for 4 - 5 more levels before the next 'seasonal' update. I'm assuming that update would be Whacking Day in May.
