I'm not sure where else to post this without starting a new topic, but I come bearing terrible news. According to the unintelligible Google translation below from the Yomiuriland website, White Canyon will be closing in January. It seems they finally ran out of ways to add more padding to the seats.

Coasters "White Canyon" wooden giant from the start of business on Saturday, has been active as an attraction sign of Yomiuri Land, we will exit the trade with (Mon) January 14, 2013 April 9, 1994.

Entitled "White Canyon" Thanks to rice gratitude to customers 5.35 million people were enjoying so far, the campaign held three events.

※ White Canyon, we ask that you please refrain from the use of those very large quake for attraction, physical condition is not good.

I'd like to imagine it's because they're planning on converting it into Iron Canyon, but somehow I doubt it. But with this and SL Coaster gone, they're certainly due for something new.

Anyways, here's hoping the coaster gods smile upon me, and I manage to get my credit in before it closes.

I got an instant headache just reading the name White Canyon! It is definitely top 3 for roughest coaster I've been on. I just hope they get something new and keep the park going. A lot of parks in Japan are struggling.

^^I'm hoping that this signifies some more investment going into the park and not just a steady downfall with two coasters now being removed.

Poor White Canyon...I'd like to say this news upsets me...but it really doesn't!

Here are the video I shot of the ride, you can see how awful it was!

Especially look at this moment in the video....

When I rode White Canyon with TPR back in 2007, I didn't think it was all that bad (certainly not good, but not horrible, either). But when I saw the video of other riders on the same trip later, I guessed I must've bumbled into the "magic seat" or something. This POV confirms it--I was very lucky that day.

^ I have actually found the ride VERY hit or miss. It's never "good", but if you happen to get a certain seat or two, you just don't get the crap kicked out of you all that much.

The front row is by far the most tolerable...but again, it's not "good!" lol

Wow, so if you go back and look at some of the bottom coasters in the Mitch Hawker poll from years past, some of those "worst coasters in the world" are finally gone! Hercules, Psyclone, Son of Beast, and now this! I wonder how much time it is before we see CGA's Grizzly, Anaconda, or Predator taken down? (hopefully soon!)

One less RCCA coaster in the world is a good thing! Good bye White Canyon!

Are the other 4 (besides Son of Beast) RCCA woodies still operating? Anyone taking bets on how long until they're all gone?

I think they all are (according to RCDB) IMO the most likely to leave (likely to least likely)

1. Magnus Colossus

2. Bandit (Movie Park Germany)

3. Montezum or Coaster Express

It's a shame that a coaster is closing, but awesome that they're closing a crappy ride. Now, all they need is to actually add a new ride, and then they're golden... Well, at least they have that awesome stand up/sit down and Bandit to keep TPR coming back!

That video looks like hell, good bye now! That they kept building more of these? Up next on the RCCA count down list, Bandit?

It was truly awful. Lets hope the park has something big in store as its replacement!

I'm in Tokyo next month...

I'm wondering if the phrase "your last chance to ride one of the worst coasters on earth" will work with my friends....

I feel it won't... I'd like to say I'll be sad if I do miss White Canyon but I think I'll be OK. The thing that worries me is that the Japanese coaster market has stalled massively recently. I can't see them replacing WC any time soon.
