Jew Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 ^Also a good sign! Hope Shane has things back on track and the announcement is opening day information!
MayTheGForceBeWithYou Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 ^^Count me in for wanting the new info.
Mr Stratosphere Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Great news! This park is much closer to my house, Wet 'n Wild is easily a 40-50 minute trek across the valley. This is just a 10 mile drive from me!
_koppen Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 According to a reply by Cowabunga Bay on their Draper park's Facebook, construction will start on Monday again. Hopefully it's true!
Mr Stratosphere Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 ^ That would be amazing! I know Season Passes should be going on sale soon as well!
Jew Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Hope it's true! Would love to see it open this summer!
gisco Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 The park is going to be a big hit when it opens. I don't think the park was ever in any danger of not opening. I know they ran into some construction problems where the dirt is harder then cement. I think that gave them a chance to step back, make sure the park was on a sound financial footing and not rush the opening. Based on the other water park opening last year Cowabunga can expect huge crowds. It looks to be a bigger and better park then the one across town.
_koppen Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 From the Facebook page: Hey guys, we are excited to report that construction has resumed. All contractors have begun to re-mobilize on site. We appreciate your interest in park and will continue to provide updates as they happen. The right word for this would be woo-hoo! I don't think the park was ever in any danger of not opening. I know they ran into some construction problems where the dirt is harder then cement. I think that gave them a chance to step back, make sure the park was on a sound financial footing and not rush the opening. From my understanding of the situation, the biggest problem for them was to find new funds, to pay of the debts. When postponing the opening of the park the revenue for 2013 was cancelled, but still the loans needed to be paid. This is just how I understood it, and I'm sure there are 1000 more things that played a part in the situation.
KBrylczyk Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 It looks to be a bigger and better park then the one across town. I'm not so sure. Granted, I have yet to visit Wet N' Wild (due mainly to crowds and lack of shade) but from what I've seen from both parks they seem to be the same in terms of ride types offered and amount of attractions. Robocoaster Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Looking forward to multiple visits this summer. Bigger wave pool, what looks to be a better lazy river, and better slide complexes (zip zap zoom at WnW is a huge disappointment). Plus, the uphill finale to the mat racers are the closest thing to a water coaster this area has got.
Mr Stratosphere Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I love that Cowabunga Bay has a ride called Rock-A-Hoola, perhaps a reference about that long forgotten waterpark on I-15 outside of Baker??
Wes Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I love that Cowabunga Bay has a ride called Rock-A-Hoola, perhaps a reference about that long forgotten waterpark on I-15 outside of Baker?? Tempting karma by naming something after that place…hopefully the same fate doesn't befall Cowabunga.
Mr Stratosphere Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 They posted on their FB page that construction has officially re-started. Best of luck to them! Looking forward to the summer!
jray21 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Glad to hear that construction has started! Can't wait to see more. Edited January 16, 2014 by jray21
KBrylczyk Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I love that Cowabunga Bay has a ride called Rock-A-Hoola, perhaps a reference about that long forgotten waterpark on I-15 outside of Baker?? HOLY CRAP! I drove by it again last week on my way to LA and it was the first time I had noticed it. It looked to me like an abandoned hotel resort-ish place where the cheesiness factor was through the roof. I never would have guessed it was once a waterpark, haha.
_koppen Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 It's awesome that now that all the slides for the Cartoon Network park are done, I have another Polin park to follow construction on! Source
_koppen Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 A pretty boring update, but still an update! Source
denning Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I noticed that Shane hasn't posted in months. Not since late September. I hope he comes back soon.
Jew Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 He's probably pretty busy getting his park built and ready for opening!
_koppen Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 According to their Facebook the big play structure won't open with the park this year, it will be added next year or possibly later down the road. Here are some new shots of the model of the Surf Safari ride. Looks really cool, and I can't wait for the day when I get to try it out. Source
_koppen Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Cool new video about the resuming of construction can be found here.
Mr Stratosphere Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I should drive by soon and check out the progress on this park, I am very excited for this summer as this is a lot closer to home than Wet n' Wild. Wet n' Wild is a nice 45 minute 30 mile drive across town for me!
