List the parks you have visited in 2011

Recommended Posts

Well, 2011 is just about in the books, so it is almost time to retire this thread for a 2012 version! But before we do that, how about everyone shares what parks they visited so far this year?

But first let's make things a little interesting. I am thinking of a mystery park. If you happened to have visited this mystery park this year, you will win a Bag of Crap!! So, all you have to do is post your parks and you could win some fabulous crap!!

So, those who have been to a lot of parks have a good shot at winning! Get to sharing those parks!!

Do we need to repost our lists? Mine is only a page behind your post.

-Adventuredome

-New York-New York Hotel & Casino (If you count as an amusement park)

-Nascar Cafe'

-California's Great America

-Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

All I traveled this year was to Vegas & Hawaii, not really a major theme park in either location, especially Hawaii, which has no coasters.

This summer, I concentrated on Europe with:

Bellewaerde

Walibi Belgium

Plopsaland

Walibi Holland

Efteling

Toverland

Phantasialand

Europapark

Holiday Park

Parc Asterix

Herne Cranger Kirmesse for Olympia goodness.

I hit all these parks with fellow TPR members, and even home parks I consider "average" (to be polite) took another dimension with my two US coasterfriends

'guys ready? Here we go:

-Worlds of Fun

-Oceans of Fun

-Elitch Gardens

-Island Kingdom Water Park

It was a very slow season for me. I found my summer to be boring and pointless. It might have been just Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun if I didn't convince my parents to take me to Elitch Gardens and Island Kingdom for my birthday. I'm hoping to do a lot more next season like going to California and Wisconsin!

2x Dreamworld - really fun, awesome rides.

1x Warner Bros Movie World - Home to my fave ride, Superman Escape.

1x Wet n Wild (if waterparks count) - home to some freaking amazing slides and a coaster that was closed the sky coaster was insane, my first time on a sky coaster.

3x Aussie World - fairly crappy park with a deathtrap wooden wild mouse and some lame fairground flat rides that me and my friends like to yell out "penis" on as loud as we can. Fun fun.

I joke that I'm a coaster Bulemic. Basically, I binge and purge. I do almost all of my coastering in big trips, with very little coastering otherwise. That's mostly due to a combination of factors including living in a big city, having no car, having friends who go to parks on weekends, and working in a restaurant on weekends (when the money is too good to give up for just the local parks.) Two years ago, I only rode one coaster in the US!

So, my first trip this year was to Texas in June for ACE Con and related activities:

Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Sandy Lake Park

Schlitterbahn

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

SeaWorld San Antonio

Space Center Houston (kind of like an amusement park!)

Gay Pride Houston (even more like an amusement park!)

Kemah Boardwalk

Schlitterbahn Galveston Island

Then, but 9 days later, I headed to Europe for the ACE Scandinavia Soujourn, plus side trips beforehand in the UK and in Italy and Montreal (yes, Montreal!) afterwards:

Thorpe Park

Legoland Windsor

Alton Towers

Various tourist traps owned by Merlin Parks (Madame Tousauds, The London Eye, The London Dungeons, Sea Life Aquarium), thanks to the MErlin Pass, plus the Doctor Who Exhibition, which is like a theme park!

Linnanmaeki

Powerland

Särkänniemi

Gröna Lund

TusenFryd

Liseberg

Fårup Sommerland

Djurs Sommerland

Tivoli Friheden

BonBon-Land

Bakken

Tivoli Gardens

Mirabilandia

Can I count Gardaland, if I bought and paid for a ticket online, but overslept and missed my train and had to skip it?

Ibiza (trust me: Ibiza is wilder than any amusement park, especially if I'm there!)

La Ronde

Then I did a weekend in NYC for the Electric Zoo electronic dance music festival. I left early the first night to head to see Cirque du Soleil (with a quick stop at Victorian Gardens beforehand for a credit!), then to Coney Island. On Labor Day, I headed out to SFGAdv, for an especially dead day, with LOTS of riding!:

Victorian Gardens

Luna Park

(Does walking through Deno's count?)

Scream Zone (sort of part of Luna Park)

(RCDB lists Astroland as operating the Cyclone, but the Cyclone is now part of Luna Park, isn't it?)

Six Flags Great Adventure.

So, all 30 (or more, depending on how your count them) of those parks are in three spurts, with no other coasters all year.

I never even got to ride the new Wooden Warrior, even though I'm a a HUGE Gravity Group nerd, and it's around 2 hours from my house. (That happens when you don't own a car!)

Speaking of which, I managed to get to all of these parks without owning a car, and only renting one in Texas this year.

2011 was a good one! My coaster crazy 15-year old and I made two road trips, first to collect the Texas parks (and a certain New Giant - plus the legendary Schlitterbahn - nice!). Then in August, we circled the midwest. Holiday World was as good as advertised. King's Island was average but large. Six Flags Great America was the surprise hit (such a contrast with its one-time California sister).

Other than that, it was reprise city - not a bad thing:

Texas Loop

Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Schlitterbahn

Sea World San Antonio

Midwest

Worlds of Fun

Schlitterbahn KC

Six Flags St Louis

Holiday World

King's Island

Cedar Pt

Six Flags Great America

Vegas

Speed the Ride (just before it closed)

Canyon Blaster

Buffalo Bill's

Stratosphere

Day trips

Belmont Park

Sea World San Diego

Disneyland

California Adventure

Knott's Berry Farm

Six Flags Magic Mt

Castle Park

Scandia
