verticalzero Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 The Parks should try out certain coasters with their trains facing "backwards" i.e. Racer at Kings Island. How about "Nitro" or "Thunderhead" or even "Hades" backwards. What are your views on this..? Great European Trip Thank you Rob and Friends. Best rollercoaster site on the Web.
Canobie Fan Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I would love to ride SROS SFNE with a backwards train... (or I culd just turn my head and look backwards...)
Coasterlicious Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 That would be fun... would the airtime be the same..
coasterdude5 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I like riding coasters frontwards. But that's just me.
danandjackie Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I think im the only person in the world who enjoyed Indiana Jones Backwards at DLP paris..... Loved the madness of it.. Danny
Reon Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 First off, launch coaster backwards= no. I cant imagine how many necks would break. That being said, perhaps make it like TNT, where some rows face forwards, and others backwards...
sfmmFREAK Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 colossus at sfmm runs backwards during fright fest. it is really fun. bumpy, but fun.
USCoaster Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I loved Indiana Jones Backwards at DLP. I was so sad to hear they were turning it forwards again. As for coasters I would like to see run backwards, Colossus needs a full time backwards side. Call me insane but I would also like to try Flashback backwards once. I think the dives would be insane. And run Scream! backwards... At least then it would be interesting.
phazan Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 to me riding a coaster backwords doesnt sound that fun.
SonOfBeastSucks Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I have been going to PKI my entire life and the last time I went, I rode the Rcaer- backwards for the very first time. I like the Racer, forwards that is. I hated my backwards ride with a storng, burning, firey passion. That is the only backwards coaster I have been on to go by, but I don't like backwards coasters... for now at least.
kenshinmac Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Some people get motion sickness traveling backwards... So you would be limiting your audience...
benzo41190 Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 i think SUF would be cool backwards. But i dont like American Eagle backwards because that side doesnt have as much airtime as the forward side. I mean when i ride a coaster backward, i am always looking forward anyway.
Canobie Fan Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 SUF backwards would be sooooo.. odd? I think some boomerang should put its train on backwards... that would be cool.
Jose Eber Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Space mountain backwards would be interesting (for me).
USCoaster Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I tried riding Space Mountain twisted so I was looking backwards once and got off feelin extremely dizzy and slightly ill. But I get sick on any flat ride that spins backwards. Coasters that run backwards are fine though. I guess its the difference between going in a straight line vs. just spinning in circles.
Coasterlicious Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I think a stand- up backwards would be cool.. like mantis or something.. and Mellenium Force backwords.
Kroger8 Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 July 25th was the first time I rode a backwards rollercoaster, IMO it makes the ride a lot more intense, but at the same time its fun. Thunder Road really is smoother on the backwards side than it is the forwards side though.
danandjackie Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Some people get motion sickness traveling backwards... So you would be limiting your audience... Perfect excuse for those busy days to cut q'sdown..
Imhotep Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 well, I rode rebel yell at PKD backwards, and I loved it so much I didnt even bother riding the frontwards car. Almost any woodie backwards sounds fun to me.. One non woodie I would love to ride backwards is Sheikra, the drops would probably be insane! And I bet the immelman hangtime would have an odd sensation kinda like when you go through the zero g roll backwards on B&R:TC.
viking86 Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The only full-curcuit backwards rollercoaster I have ridden is X\:No Way Out at Thorpe park. Its the most screwed up coaster Ive ever ridden. Im just happy that it wasnt any longer because that would have made me sick. I dont have any problems with the different types of Boomerang coasters because theyre outside and theyre very short.
benzo41190 Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Well when you turn you head, it will make you sick becuase you are turning you neck. For some reason when ever i twist my neck, i get sick.
pvcoasterguy Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 I've been on The American Eagle backwards... if you go in the last car or row, the first drop is totally crazy. It feels like absolute freefall, kind of like the feeling on an Intamin Drop Tower. You're out of your seat the entire drop The rest of the ride is fun, but the first hill is amazing.
Kroger8 Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 ^Yes thats the same feeling as on Thunder Road in the last seat (or first seat if the trains turned around) it truly does feel like total free fall, and the drop seems to last a lot longer!
65skylark Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Colossus @ SFMM is actually an OK ride backwards. Wish I could say the same when it's runnug forward.
rollermonkey Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 As I get older, I like backwards less and less. Facing forwards, you can prepare yourself (somewhat) for what's coming. If a ride is rough to begin with, it is less fun backwards. If it is designed with backwards in mind, though it can be a nice addition to the experience, as I suspect Expedition: Everest will be.
