downunder Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Yeah I think PKI and SF Great America on the midwest will be tough to get all the credits in one day. I wish they had gold flash passes. If the track is arriving now, it looks like they might be serious about getting it going this year, fingers crossed. What are the worst lines at Kings Island - Italian Job and Face/Off look like they would be slow moving? I am sure X-flight will be slow queue mover as well. Don't know about Flight of Fear, what's that like, any others that have bad lines at PKI?
PKI Jizzman Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okok....All I hope....is that.. A. - The line moves as fast as BORG Assimilator did B. - Some decant theming/landscaping is done...not just dirt like X-Flight C. - Name stays the same

Don't know about Flight of Fear, what's that like, any others that have bad lines at PKI? You can get all the credits on a busy day at SFGam, though you will have to buy at least one pack of flash passes. Also you will need to run to Superman: UF as soon as the park opens. As for X-Flight at PKI, I know where I will be running to once the park opens...if it is open.
Scaparri Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I can't help but feel this is a dumb move. It just seems like it would have been much more fitting at MIA. It's a smaller park with low capacity rides as it is. Having a huge coaster like this would have been great, and I bet it would be considered as having good capacity there. Don't know about Flight of Fear, what's that like, any others that have bad lines at PKI? Depends on if you guys will be going on the weekend or through the week. I wouldn't really know for the weekend, but through the week, Italian Job is usually about 30 minutes and Face/Off is about 15 minutes. Flight of Fear tends to have one of the longest lines (45-60 minutes at least) because it's pretty much the best ride in the park and it's air-conditioned. Granted, these times may jump some with the extra attendance from X-Flight, which I can only nightmare about how long the line will be.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Flight of Fear and Face/Off are hands down the longest lines for coasters at PKI. FoF can move rather quickly, as fo Face/Off...not so much. When I rode BORG at PC, the line moved very quickly....I just hope for the same on X-Flight. I think this will be a great addition, it opens up a whole new area for the park! I will definately be getting masss pictures of it come May. And in my opinion, this is definately a re-ride coaster.
coastrfreak2000 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I hope it's open in August, since I'm probably going to Kings Island again around that time.
scruffy Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 You can ride all of the coaster at PKI in one day. It depends on what day and if you get to the park when it frist opens. Last year the longest lines where for Flight of Fear and Face/Off. If X-Flight is open it will have the longest line in the park. Well last year with Paramount they did have a Gold Speed Pass on some rides the only coaster on the list was The Beast. You had to have a Gold Pass to get the pass. I am not sure if Cedar Fair will keep the Speed pass around at Kings Island.
pierced_b0i Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Maybe they will finally dispatch the trains as they are lowering. Wasn't it designed like that to begin with? Totally off the point but I drug my dad on this, and he cried like a baby the whole time. Such a priceless moment! I'm gonna die..Oh my god my vest is going to release!
kidcoaster Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Now they got a flight area featuring Flight of Fear and X Flight
jamesdillaman Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 All I can say is it's official: Cedar Fair is dissapointing for PKI fans just like paramount was. It's so sad to see a park in your own backyard getting hosed for so long on rides. X-Flight is not as good as the B&M flyers, if you ask me, and besides that, it isn't a new coaster. It would be different if it was being moved 2000 miles (see Borg...). Being moved 3 hours south means many of the coaster people who live here who are even a little serious have already riden it. I just wish they would have spent $10 million refurbing all their existing coasters and got nothing new. It would have been money better spent, in my opinion. Besides, as someone else said, this would have been such a better fit at MiA, no matter what any PKI fanboy tries to tell you. Time will tell on this one, but I predict long lines and a slow crew with frequent turnover. -James "Will be marathoning Top Gun this summer, only 'flying' I need" Dillaman
Reon Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Well, this is one PKI fanboy/homeboy who's excitted. I dont care if it's not a brand new coaster, and I certainly never get the chance to go to GL. Even now that I finally got my liscence, my summer jobs never let me have a chance to travel. And as far as newness goes, rememver this is coming from a guy who wants them to rebuild King Cobra. Jared "Can't wait for X Flight" Becker
Satoshi Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Geauga Lake will be sad about X Flight will taken outta the park but it might be going to make other parks happy since i could know that it won't fortunately get scrapped at least.

But I think it has alot of potential. From seeing what it was like up at Geauga Lake, with virtually no theming, just dirt all around, PKI can turn this around. But when my friend went up to GL, he had been on BORG. And he thought X-FLight was better than Borg. Him seeing X-Flight coming down to PKI, he is really excited. It is a great ride, and I dont think alot of people will be 'dissapointed'. These are rare ride types and are really good! Forcefull and just a very cool expierience. Ofcourse, in my opinion. Another thing - PKI hasnt had an extreme coaster that is really good since Flight of Fear. X-Flight is the answer to this, its a ride that people will want to get back in line and ride it, even if there is an hour wait.
the_rock401 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Yeah I think PKI and SF Great America on the midwest will be tough to get all the credits in one day. I wish they had gold flash passes. All the credits at SFGAm can be done in one day WITHOUT any FlashPasses. In fact, if you do them in the right order and are there at the open, you can get them done by 2 PM.
jamesdillaman Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I knew going in I was going to get flamed by the PKI fanboys, but it doesn't bother me, so take your best shot . I never wanted them to rebuild King Cobra, I just enjoyed the ride, and it was FREE, unlike Slingshot. Don't even get me started on Delirium. Sure I like it, it's one of the best rides at the park, but going with a giant Huss ride after all the problems they had with TRTR is just questionable business practices. The Beast isn't taken care of (i.e. when was the last time you've seen grease on the rails mid-season?) and FoF is getting slower and slower (The midcourse brake-run almost stopped you completely last season.) All I'm saying is I'd rather millions of dollars be poured into general maintenence of the park instead of bringing X-Flight in. I find it interesting that both people who responded saying they're really excited about X-Flight coming haven't been on it themselves. If any rides were sent here from GL, I'd like to see Dominator or Steel Venom. If they could bring the Big Dipper, I'd even be more excited than I am now. My main concern is this is a low-capacity coaster, and it works in a park the size of GL or MiA. PKI's crews will murder capacity, unless there's a really good crew on it. I know someone who might be lead supervisor at the new ride, and I wish him the best of luck. I'll go ride it... once... but only to see what they've done with it. Give me a B&M over a Vekoma anyday. -James"Say what you want, because I do!" Dillaman
Carnage Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 but going with a giant Huss ride after all the problems they had with TRTR is just questionable business practices. Just par for the course with Cedar Fair. Hasn't stopped Cedar Point from building 4 Intamin's in a row.

TRTR has had its share of problems, but Delirium, not soo much...hopefully it wont be worse. Flight of Fear......omg...yes. People were yelling thinking they were stuck when i was waiting for the front seat....it IS HORRIBLE how they stop you to 1 mph and slowly slide down the curve....wtf?! I would agree that it would be insane to have Dominator here, but Steel Venom....naaahhh... Beast....yea..its needs more love. And if all they need as a good crew on it, they they better be sure there is a damn good crew on it!
ginzo Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 -James "Will be marathoning Top Gun this summer, only 'flying' I need" Dillaman No way dude. We're going to day trip some real parks this summer. PKI certainly deserves a real coaster based on their attendance numbers, but will likely never get one. Does Cedar Fair want to turn PKI into another wasteland like Knott's? Their actions this year make certainly make it look like they really want to smack PKI. Cedar Point gets a world class new Intamin this year, while PKI gets a clunky secondhand coaster from a third rate manufacturer. Even Valleyfair, a park with far less atttendance than PKI, gets a nice new coaster this year. PKI gets more visitors than CP does even!
PKI Jizzman Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Wooow...I never really thought of that.... .... of the possibilities!
ginzo Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Wooow...I never really thought of that.... .... of the possibilities! Of course, I don't really believe Cedar Fair has any residual grudge against PKI from the days when they were competing. I just think the park deserves more love than it has received. CF should stop pumping up Cedar Point, and give their other parks some love.

Valleyfair and Cedar Point though have both been in Cedar Fair's hands for a long time. Even if CF wanted to drop a big Intamin coaster into PKI they wouldn't have had time to plan it. They haven't even had control of Paramount for a year yet. Building a major Intamin coaster, or a GCI twister takes a few years to plan, develop, and build. Can't just drop one into a park like RCT.

Actually my point had nothing to do with X-flight. Obviously relocating a coaster takes much less time then designing a new one. Just pointing out that complaining that Cedar Fair isn't building major attractions at any Paramount park is stupid.
PKIDelirium Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I swung by today for a few new photos of the track. Edit: SMOOTH! Forgot to link! http://extremepki.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=240

Actually my point had nothing to do with X-flight. Obviously relocating a coaster takes much less time then designing a new one. Just pointing out that complaining that Cedar Fair isn't building major attractions at any Paramount park is stupid. Weren't they supposedly honoring a pretty significant, previously existing capital plan for PKI for 2007? And this is what they come up with? Somehow I don't think Paramount planned to move a POS Vekoma over from Geauga Lake. This delays even the possibility of PKI getting a respectable coaster for at least another few years. The park is packed as it is. They're going to have to start ripping stuff out. I think complaining about it is perfectly reasonable. It's possible that PKI makes more money than Cedar Point does based on the greater attendance. AFAIK industry experts claim that greater attendance generally correlates to greater profits. At least that's what I read in Forbes So CF goes and shoves a complete piece of junk on a park that makes good money, then gives a masterpiece to Cedar Point because they are so in love with pumping that park up, even though it completely doesn't need it. They pump up CP, and let other parks like Knotts rot. Sucks, and I'll whine some more about it.
