Big-M
^ Do you know about the kiddie coasters at Compounce and SFNE? This is amazingly sad and pathetic, but... Lake Compounce, From their site: Kiddie Coaster - The Wildkitten HEIGHT REQUIREMENT: Minimum 36", No more than 56" without child. Adult may accompany child. SFNE, From their site: The Great Chase Height Restrictions 42" to ride alone, no height min. with adult. I don't quite understand what SFNE is trying to say about theirs, but it looks like you need a kid to accompany you for Lake Compounce's.

larrygator
I have a random question for the Great Adventure enthusiasts.Would SFGAdv open both sides of Rolling Thunder on a Friday in July? I'm making my first trip out there this summer and I want to make sure I get on all the coasters, except the kiddie ones. Most likely, yes. They did so on weekdays (like a Wednesday) in July this past season. And c'mon, ride the kiddie coasters. . Awesome! Yes! I love getting on rides while they actually race. Racer and Gemini are both awesome because of that. Well don't get your hopes up for racing, doesn't happen often with Rolling Thunder.
PSiRockin
^ Come to think of it, out of about 7 times I went this season in the summer, only about 3 times had both sides open. They will sometimes take trains off in late-day, and if El Toro is crowded add trains to have both sides. I remember the one time KK was closed, so El Toro was crowded. I guess they had the idea to open both sides to lessen ET's line. So yeah, usually the crowd levels have something to do with it. But last season was better than season's past with RT. nitro4ever
The line for Rolling Thunder may look short. Its not, inside the station, the queue continues. If you see the end of Rolling Thunders line, dont wait for the ride. You will be sorry.

Lake Compounce will usually allow Adults without Children at Enthusiast Events, Both times i have been there they have kept it open a few minutes after closing for adults before ERT starts. DiveMachine
I'm surprised nobody posted this yet but, according to Coasterbuzz, the park confirmed "Tango", one of Gadv's SBNO flats will operate next year! Houdini will be open all season and Tango (Rock 'N Tug) is returning. http://coasterbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/58516.aspx?page=1#833511 I personally think this is GREAT news and a step in the right direction for Gadv! Good move. The place is filled to the brim with coasters. After Chang, it would be nice to see them focus on other areas. I'm surprised they don't have a drop tower at all. Perhaps in the future. coasterfreak101
That's fantastic! I always hate walking by to get to El Toro and seeing planters lined up there as if Tango doesn't even exist. And it only operated for what, two seasons?
DiveMachine
I think it was three seasons then it was left SBNO since 2009
Hayzle
I wonder why six flags doesn't have drop towers/launch towers in more parks when it seems like everyone on these forums asks for them?
DiveMachine
Well, the park used freefall as an excuse for awhile, and when it was removed, it was in the middle of the Shapiro years, and I don't think a drop tower then was likely
DJeXeL
Why has Tango been closed so long?
YoshiFan
The park under the past management didn't think it was worth running/lower amount of riders, along with all the other rides that were SBNO like the bumper cars and music express in Old Country. It also supposedly had some problems. Hopefully they can get the rest of the removed rides replaced (new swings would be good) and closed rides reopened. Hayzle
I'm cautiously excited to see how six flags great adventure evolves over the next few years. It seems like there will be big changes. The removal of GASM seems to foreshadow the death of older rides. Hopefully they can better balance the park. I would love to see them install a ride like shoot the rapids at cedar point somewhere around the old excalibur areas
willh51
Great Adventure is bar FAR the best Six Flags park I've been to (haven't been to Magic Mountain or Great America), and I really want this place to do well in the long run under whatever management. If there's no chance that a ride will run, sure, I'd rather they remove it. As much as I hated seeing Chiller go when it did, I can't say they didn't try their best to make it workable. From what I understand, Houdini is fun and gets long lines when it is open. The park has so much potential, rides-wise, and also because it's actually a pretty park, grounds-wise. The Medusa/Bizarro make-over was a good call, now if they'd only give Rolling Thunder a GCI-overhaul like Thunder Road. The area around GASM is probably the "ugliest" in the park, and I hate the big circus tents near SUF, but I think Green Lantern being placed here should revitalize that area. larrygator
The Medusa/Bizarro make-over was a good call Not really, the sound is damn annoying. The area around GASM is probably the "ugliest" in the park, and I hate the big circus tents near SUF Remember the circus tents are theming for the Boardwalk area, which outside of the coasters has a nice consistent theme. That's the problem when a park orders a big ride and has limited places to expand. They just plop it down where ever it fits and the theming of the ride could be inconsistent with the themed area. willh51
^You know, I completely FORGOT Bizarro had a soundtrack and you're 100% correct, it's very annoying. Doesn't Great Adventure have a ton of land to expand? But, I understand why they're sticking Green Lantern up front, as they don't want a Drachen Fire problem where the ride is so far off the beaten path that no one goes to it. DiveMachine
Gadv has ALOT of land to build on( believe about 1500 acres), but there are ALOT of restrictions. The planning board is extremely picky about tree removal(I've even heard that a custom flyer was planned for El Toro's with lake flyovers was rejected because of tree removal, so they switched o S:UF), much of the area is protected wildlife area, and I also believe there is a deal where SF has to buy XX amount of land whenever they build on X amount of untouched wetlands
Hayzle
I really like that SFGADV has to keep all of those trees, it creates a nice atmosphere and good shade for my pale A$$ so I don't burn in 5 minutes haha
coasterfreak101
Am I the only one with a thing for onboard audio? I love the Bizarro makeover so much more than I did Medusa - minus not being able to sit next to friends in the back row. Never ridden Bizarro, but audio makes everything better. It is AMAZING how much your rides on screamin will vary if you get a music free train as opposed to a music train. If the audio is EVER broken on SCreamin I insist on riding it again, because it makes the experience MUCH better!
