DorneyKid14
I went around the same time you are planning to go last year, and the lines were small. The longest wait we had was Volcano. I-305 was maybe 30 minutes if i can remember. Everything else was either a 10-15 minutes wait or a walk on.
Vonni
Has there been anymore work done for the addition of Delirium?
Sythe
Hi All, I just realized that I will be in Maryland for work June 6th-8th and I could extend the trip and go to King's Dominion. If I were to visit the park on the 9th, would I be able to hit all the rides in one day or would I need two days to do the job? I will be by myself and have no problem running from ride to ride, hurdling small children if required. I figure, the lines should be fairly short since it will be a weekday and early in the season. Also, do any of the rides have single rider lines?  Thanks in advance ~Matt I don't know what day of the week the 9th is, but if it is a Tuesday then basically everything will have a 5 min or less wait. Â The 9th is a Thursday so hopefully the lines aren't too bad. Â Ride Volcano first, then Flight of Fear, then you're golden. Â That sounds like a solid plan, I have always found a good coaster to be better than any cup of coffee in the mornings. Â Thank you again for all of the tips everyone! smallpox
seriously, ride Volcano first, or you might not get to.
Bmanscool
Here's some last photos of Shockwave I took from back in July. It actually rained and closed right before I was going to ride it that day. Don't worry though, I rode it the week afterwards, right before it closed for good! Bye Bye Kings á—ªominion. I already miss you so much! Can't wait until March, 25 and bring on Delirium!

Vonni
Did Shockwave have a line for its final day, or was it at its normal popularity?
coasterbill
Shockwave's station was really quite nice. It reminds me a lot of Fahrenheit's station.
BeansproutMidget
Yeah, it was pretty cool how the station was sloped downward to make it easier for the trains to leave the station. It'll be weird not seeing that loop pop up in my peripheral vision just as I enter Candy Apple Grove next year, or not being able to see the slow lift hill in action while on Drop Tower, but the sight of Delirium moving about might just bring the refreshing that area needs. Darn it, no matter how much Shockwave was disliked, in the end, everyone had some sort of memories.
coasterbill
Theyre replacing it with a much better ride but I never thought Shockwave was that bad for a standup. I would say it was good but it didn't start to suck until after the helix and by then the ride was basically over. I'd rather power ride that thing than ride Green Lantern, Riddler or Mantis in its previous form once. The only standup I prefer is the Carowinds Vortex (which is the only standup I actually enjoy riding).
boldikus
As someone who is hopefully visiting KD for the first time this season, I am much more excited to ride a giant frisbee than a crappy old Togo standup, no matter how good some of you thought it was. coasterbill
Oh yeah there's no doubt this will be a huge improvement. I think it's an excellent addition.
Intimidated305
Hey everyone, biggest Shockwave fan boy here. My thoughts on Shockwave's replacement is pretty positive believe it or not. Am I sad to see the thing go? Yes, absolutely! What do I think about Delirium? Well, I tell you what, a ride like Delirium was the only thing I felt that could fill in Shockwave for me, and looks like I got exactly what I wanted! bill_s
I don't think it's an upgrade because it's not a coaster. It is perhaps a better use for the limited space, especially since they can beautify or something too as a result, although a good coaster of dense design could have been fit. I'm not upset because 1) nothing lasts forever, and 2) for now I'll take that as an IOU for some kind of coaster upgrade in the near future (see #1 anyway). Â Oh, and Shockwave's last operating today was packed, although up to then it was not, I tried to get my fill.

Fooz
Shockwave was pretty nice looking (with the new-ish paint) and added a lot of life to that midway. I feel like it may look a bit empty now, even with the frisbee.

It will have a high capacity (which is what they need) and it will be placed in a newly-refurbished section of the park. Not sure why you consider this a negative...  Shockwave was fun, hell it was my 100th credit. But you can't save them all. Delirium is going to be a very worthy replacement and an absolute crowd pleaser.
bill_s
I doubt it costs near as much as a coaster would, even most smaller ones. In that sense it's certainly not an upgrade. But it is something new, which in the immediate term is an upgrade, but eventually not. In terms of maintenance, obviously it is, but not my problem . Â Whether it's a good ride, or upgrade, to me I'm reserving judgement. If it has ONE TENTH the lasting appeal of a coaster, that will be a first for a flat ride, most of which I find horrible intentionally nauseating torture devices. TB305
Having an extra trash can in Shockwave's place would have still been an upgrade.
bill_s
But wouldn't you expect more, even not liking what was there? Â By IOU for a coaster improvement, I just think this makes it more likely something bigger is on the horizon than simply replacing one mid-to-small-size coaster with another one. I'm not even sure that would be best for me, I just think it will happen.
TB305
If there is a chocolate cake with a piece of crap on it, removing that crap makes the cake more appealing to me, and better overall. If you replace it with nothing, its still better than a crap cake, but if you replace it with something worth riding, its just icing on the crapless-chocolate cake, which is good either way.
