DerekRx
I don't really drink Hefes anymore, especially not more than 1 a day. I discovered this past summer that I have a high enough fiber intake.
PhishyBrewer
^Then I guess you won't have a problem with me brewing it in the coming months. Were picking up some of Widmer's 1/6th barrel production. Also, Rolling Rock production starts up this spring on the west coast.
Rugged One
No beer tonight. Going to try and cut back the next couple of weeks. For now, here's some pics from Sunday's adventures. Really good stuff. Sweet and malty like a winter warmer but still balanced out with nice sublte hops at the end. I finished up with a bottle of the Powder Hound Strong Ale from Big Sky Brewing in Montanna. Greg liked the sample so much, he decided to go for a full pint. Even Kim has some beer, in the form of a sample of Vanilla Porter from the Breckenridge Brewery and Pub in Breckenridge, Colorado. And they still did! Greg gets that, while I dive into some Stone Smoked Porter. We had wanted to get Greg some Mad Elf on draft sometime during the course of the weekend. I remembered that the Brewhouse Grille had had it when we were there a couple of weeks ago.
DerekRx
Tonight it was back to the old HopDevil for me. and oh look, its snowing again. Still one fine IPA, different from other IPAs too As good as stouts and winter warmers are this time of year, I've always got a place for the HD
65skylark
So... do you guys enjoy a nice cold Widmer Hefe during the hot summer months? Do you? What if I brewed it? Screw summer, I think I'll go get one out of the fridge right now. Just think how exciting it will be to brew some good beer for a change Wally. mcjaco
^Is the camera going to work this time Matt? Even better Heath.....I forgot it. I'm a nimrod of the 5th level. Is it sad that one of the guys there remembered me from last time? Although he did give me more free swag! I enjoyed a 2 Below, Abbey, 1554 and their spring seasonal, Springboard. I'm moving to Colorado if we don't start getting more NB stuff here. Everyone of them is so tasty.
FlyerACE1
Yesterday I popped by my favorite liquor store for the first time in months to pick up some stuff for this coming weekend's EastCoaster party. Of course, I couldn't leave without something for myself and Ellen. Nice head on this one but the beer was pretty average. Still trying to figure out exactly what I drank. Scary! I couldn't pass this one up based on the name and brewery alone. This beer smelled amazing but it was really just "meh". Sort of a flat wheat taste with a tinge of fruit. I don't look much like the brewer but damn, how awesome would it be to have your photo on a nationally distributed bottle of beer? First up, from Sam Adams' LongShot mixed 6-pack- the Boysenberry Wheat.
PhishyBrewer
Nice head on this one but the beer was pretty average. Still trying to figure out exactly what I drank. A batch of Brown Sugga from 2005
Juggler
Raided the supermarket on the way home for a few bottles this evening as I have to leave the 80 pints in the cupboard alone!!! They're for drinking prior to visiting the Oakwood Beer Festival in two weeks time and I don't think I'd be popular if I started on the barrels. So a Jennings "Red Breast", Badgers "Fursty Ferret", Wells "Banana Bread Beer" and a Theakstons "Old Peculiar" have passed my lips this evening. I like a nice Red Breast Am I seeing things or is this beer good? I reckon I'm a bit Peculiar Ferret Fondling Hmmm Banana Beer SLURP!
DerekRx
^That's pretty cool seeing some beers that we don't normally hear about over across the pond. The banana beer intrigues me, and I'm sure Tom would love to have a bottle of the Ferret sitting around in his basement! Tonight I wasn't going to drink, but then work happened, so I got home and deemed it necessary. Plus I wanted to try out my black and tan turtle from Terrapin Brewing. I was thinking about using some HopDevil and Storm King, but after hearing that stupid Matt forgot his camera again when he was inside the gates of one of the many beer heavens, I had some better brews in mind; a Bell's Black and Tan! Oh well, it's still really tasty and bitter, now with not only coffee, but also citrus And there we have a Bell's "black and tan" Two Hearted Java Stout? Apparently I need more practice, or the stout was too watery Step 3, pour the Bell's Java Stout over the turtle's shell Step 2, turtle sits on top of glass Step 1, half pint of Bell's Two Hearted IPA, one of the best While it's no Southport Turtle, it is still hanging around, and is darn cute! SharkTums
I love the Ferret Beer! (Well, at least the name of it, being that I've never actually had it!)
niiicolaaah
Banana bread beer sounds intriguing! I actually had a beer tonight. It was an Ellicottville Brew Company Blueberry Wheat. So good. And the place I went had Hopdevil on the menu!!
Jayjay719
I want Ferret Beer! But I want the snow globes more. Where did you get the snow globes Derek?
Rugged One
Jeez, one of these days, we'll eventually get a proper BRT of New Belgium out of you Matt. Wow, Adam's "hairy eyeball" looking exactly like the one on the bottle. Creepy. I had this earlier in the month out in Pittsburgh and thought it was really good. I remember a lot of fruit character to it. So tonight I went with another excellent brew that I had Greg bring me up from down South. Once again I find it funny that this stuff is brewed less than 1 1/2 hours from me, yet I have to get my friend from the Carolinas to bring me up some. Hopefully Maryland with start distributing Terrapin sometime in 2007! Oh my god, this stuff was good! An almost perfect blend of malt and hops as I've ever tasted in a beer. Damn, I knew I should have had him bring up 2 four-packs of this! The Fall 2006 edition of the Terrapin Monster Beer Tour. The Big Hoppy Monster Imperial Red. Juggler
I tried dunking one of my ferrets in a glass of Rogue Chocolate Stout last night. Bad idea! Tom I take it the Ferret hasn't had swimming lessons then? I'm on the wine tonight as I ran out of bottles yesterday and I'm being very good with regards to the home brew in the cupboard. However I am celebrating due to getting a phone call today to say I'd been offered the job I had interviewed for last Friday.
DerekRx
Welcome to Febrewary! Tonight I decided to give the black and tans another shot. Hopefully the turtle will help out better with the Victory Black and Tan, StormDevil. Once again, the perfect black and tan So good I'll do it again an hour later to finish both bottles And it tastes wonderful. Great blend of coffee, hops, and alcohol Here you can see the separation better between the IPA and the Stout I'm quite proud of myself And there you have the Victory Black and Tan, StormDevil Woohoo, once the Storm King goes it, it separates properly this time! Add the turtle Let's try this again. 1/2 pint HopDevil
DorneyDude
I take it the Ferret hasn't had swimming lessons then? Nah, that wasn't the problem. The damn rat drank my beer!!! Tom (I have drunk Ferrets)
Mr Pete
Have not posted in here before, but seeing as I have had a few this evening. I thought I would share. Lovely stuff! DerekRx
But wait, there's more! It is the first Thirsty Thursday of FeBREWary, of course. Gotta keep the night going! (or maybe I started drinking too early) Does this look like the face of someone about to do something evil and uninhibited? Finally, since I don't have Red Kryptonite to release my inhibitions, I'll have to substitute some Redbach given by Adam Not too bad. Its no HopDevil, and the hop flavor is a bit on the weaker side, but it's still ok Next to bat, Wild Goose IPA
