Sue
Derek, is there a place near here to get Redbach? I'm not a beer drinker, but that one sounds really good. My favorite alcoholic drink is the Jolly Rancher so I'd definitely like to try it. Sue
DerekRx
^I don't know where around here its available. I got my bottles down in Maryland or from Adam. Contact him, maybe he can pick up a 4 pack for you before Eastcoaster. Your best bet around here would be a singles or mixed 6 shop, but I have no clue if there is any in the Allentown area. mcjaco
Mmmm, Guiness floats... This weekend is my 2nd wedding anniversary to my very cool, and lovely wife. Technically it's Monday, but who's counting....she decided that being cheap this year would behoove us, so we'll be off to Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee tomorrow for a tour. Free pint glasses!!!! I'll be sure to post a PTR.

DerekRx
Tonight was all about drinking, and thats what we did. The only thing better than drinking on a Friday night is drinking on a Friday night with some of the BACT team, like Heath and Kim! The horn dog was pretty tasty, but we're not done yet! Finally our "6 pack" ends with some Flying Dog's barleywine It's definitely a Belgian ale! Hello alcohol We've not yet begun to defile ourselves, next in line...the Urthel Hop It More creamy and chocolately Oh, we've only just begun. Next up, the Bell's Kalamazoo Stout Loads of cherry flavoring, even Kim dug this one majorly Follow that up with a Matt Anniversary Special, the Bell's Cherry Stout. WOW, amazing! Still quite dreamy. Get ye to some place that distributes! Followed quickly by the Special Double Cream Ale See? We don't lie! mmmm, Bell's Pale Ale, oh so crispy yet still so hoppy Don't worry, Matt. You're next on our list. Happy anniverary, from all of us and our Bell's! We know our friends, and we salute them! Hey Wally, this Dortmunder Gold is SO for you! DerekRx
But wait! There's more, my friends! Now that that pesty 6 pack is finished, there's room for the bombers...[/u] It's like apple, only without the apple. In any case, it's tasty, and we all enjoyed it. Until tomorrow... Finally, for dessert, its all about the Gueuze from Lindeman's Oh! Now THAT is an amazing stout!!! And almost finally, its time to enjoy the Stone Russian Imperial Stout Oh my! What a great Red Ale, glad I purchased this last weekend Next in line for consumption...The Reaper Redemption Red Ale mmm, guacamole! and since Kim is our wonderful hostess, plenty of salsa and avacado to go around Oh, but don't worry, it rocks. And when the brewery starts distributing again, more of you will enjoy it like we do How about 2 pints of Reaper Deathly Pale Ale, something hard to come by these days. Coaster geeks, here's a hot chick...wearing a park inspired apron, while holding lots of great beer...what more do you need!?
DerekRx
So far today I went from York to Harrisburg to Camp Hill to Reamstown, and now finally back home, all in the name of beer. I even had a chance to talk to the owner and brewer, Tom. Expect 2 Maibocks, a stout, a pale ale, a lager, and a kolsh when it opens Finally, here's the progress on Union Barrel Works in Reamstown. It should hopefully open by mid-February More New Belgium stuff for Heath, the 2 Below, their winter ale As awesome as I remember it, very well balanced So much for Matt having one up on us with Fat Tire Ellen, feel free to cry over my Frankenberry, a mixture of Lindeman's Framboise and Franziskaner Its a nice up and coming beer bar/restaurant with a nice selection. Here Heath enjoys a Rogue I2PA We were kinda hungry, so the next stop was the new Brewhouse Grill in Camp Hill Followed that up with more samples of Rugged Trail Nut Brown for Heath and HopBack for myself Pale Ale for myself and Mad Elf for Heath Our first stop of the day was Westy's. But then we headed over to Troegs for some free samples and to buy merch
N'at Man
Yesterday I had some time in between the morning live broadcast of ESPN College Gameday in Pittsburgh and the Pitt vs. Georgetown game at night. Since I needed to head up north I stopped by 3 Sons Dogs & Suds in Wexford, PA. I had a dog and it was OK but I was there for the single beer selection. This place did not disappoint. Great selection and good prices. The only weird thing is that you have to group your six packs by three color coded categories based on stickers on the caps. Either all the same color or 3+3 in two colors if you want the discount. I picked up three lagers (including one Wally beer), two IPAs for a change and some stouts (including Bell's and some more expensive beers outside of the six pack). I had Bell's Expedition Stout before heading out to the Pete to watch the Panthers beat the Hoyas. Bell's Expedition Stout before heading out to watch Pitt beat Georgetown. I agree with others who rate this beer highly! Spaten Optimater (one of my faves), Great Lakes Eliot Ness and Dortmunder Gold, Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA, Stone IPA, Bell's Kalamazoo Stout & Expedition Stout and Rogue Shakespeare Stout. Next was a stop at 3 Sons for lunch and some single beers. The show gets started and the Oakland Zoo goes crazy. I started the day off at the Pete for a live broadcast of ESPN College Basketball Gameday.
Rugged One
^That's a nice selection of bottles you got there Tim. All good choices. You'll have to let us know what you think of the Shakespeare Stout. I liked it so much this past week, that I had Kim pick up Derek and I some more bottles of it the other night. Great stuff! mcjaco
So, on a cold Saturday, the wife and I ventured up to Milwaukee for a tour of my favorite "local" brewery, Lakefront. It's just north of downtown, and in close proximity to Water Street which is famous in Milwaukee for it's bars. As stated earlier, this was my wife's idea on how to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Does that still mean I need to get a card???? There was a Marquette game at 11, so the later tours were full. They ended up doing tours every 30 minutes it was so packed. All in all, a fun tour, and we made a stop on the way home for some extra special brew.... Lakefront is housed in an old steam power plant. Oh looky, it's Bells!!! And a Bear victory!!!! This was between tours. It was packed all day. Like Bernie's old perch! The owners bought a ton of Brewer stuff when they moved out of County Stadium Ah, it's Abra and her friend's, Larry and Moe. Curly got cut off...

Rugged One
^^ Nice pics Matt. And you even get to celebrate your anniversary with some Two-Hearted! Tonight, it was something new from the Southampton Publick House up in Long Island. Their Imperial Baltic Porter. Lots of sweet maltiness to this one with lots of chocolate, coffee, and fruit domination in the frontend. For a Baltic Porter, it was pretty darn drinkable too. DerekRx
I decided to start off today with some Rogue Shakespeare Stout before moving on while watching the Chargers game. Shame they lost to the ever annoying Patriots. Oh well, looks like its time to root for Chicago to go all the way, as I hate all the other teams in contention. I know I'd take good SoCal brews over living in New England any day of the week! The Chargers may have lost, but they still have excellent beers they can drink tonight Sweet, chocolatey, coffee, and hoppy. Excellent stout Big props to Kim for picking up this rocking stout
N'at Man
I'm thinking too much like Heath and Derek because I happened to try the Rogue Shakespeare Stout while watching some football today. It was good but it seemed to lack something plus it was a bit too smokey tasting. It's also probably not fair to drink it so soon after trying Bell's Expedition Stout which I really liked. With a statement like that, you might just be on Ellen's punching list! And come on, how can you root on the Chargers?? Just because San Diego has good beer? Bitter that the Eagles choked again? Go Pats!!
FlyerACE1
Tonight was all about drinking, and thats what we did. The only thing better than drinking on a Friday night is drinking on a Friday night with some of the BACT team, like Heath and Kim! Seriously, I can't keep up anymore. I might have to respectfully give up my membership to BACT at this point. I did do some drinking of my own though this past weekend. On Friday night we went to a place called Amazing Grapes. There I had a Chimay Tripel (White) and Abita Turbo Dog on tap (they have a pretty decent selection of beer there). On Saturday we were at the Willimantic Brewing Company with Ellen's family where I had Poor Richard's Old Ale and an Instigator Dopplebock which was an excellent strong lager. I also brought home a growler of RoadenZok, a Flemish style ale brewed with cherries. Last night we were at On the Border where I had a Dos Equis draft while we watched the Patriots beat the Chargers. Might have a photo or two from Amazing Grapes to post in a day or so. Rugged One
[seriously, I can't keep up anymore. I might have to respectfully give up my membership to BACT at this point. Trust me dude, I'm barely keeping up too and I'm one of the ones doing it. Going to start slowing things down a little bit beerwise over the next couple of weeks. No craftbeer binging until Eastcoaster! Went with a another winter specialty tonight. The Barleywine.. A vintage Brooklyn Monster Ale 2005 Barleywine to be exact. Not too bad. Very sweet and fruity upfront with a dry finish. Ran a little hot with alcohol as well.
DerekRx
I think soon I'm gonna need to start working out too. Oh well, that's something to worry about tomorrow. Tonight I was thirsty, so I drank. First up, the new to me Lagunitas Pils. mmmm, such a wonderful IPA Bell's brews! And while settling down to watch 24, I figured I'd have a nice Two Hearted It was crisp and refreshing, but had a weird flavor kick, kinda like hemlock or sage Heath summed this one up a couple of days ago
Jew
Fat Tire Amber Ale on tap at Green Valley Ranch and Widner Heff on tap at Red Rock. I don't know anything about beer, so the only way I rate beer is "good" and "bad." Both qualify as good.
DerekRx
^Wow, I know you're not much of a drinker of beer (yet), but those are some pretty good choices for starting out. We'll have you drinking at Pizza Port and Stone sooner than later!
Coaster Palooza
This isn't so much a "last beer I drank" but a friend sent me this picture and I thought I would share it with the beer people. OH MY GOD!!!!

DerekRx
Tonight I was thinking 'Winter Warmer' since its finally feeling like Winter outside. But then I realized I still had 6 bottles of Cappuccino Stout that I hadn't touched at all yet, so I quickly made a slight alteration to my plan. Quite a nice stout. As for tomorrow, its all about the Derekslayer, Serum XXIPA So good I'll finish the bottle off real fast, its almost as good as a Tim Horton's, only with alcohol instead of crack! Yup, just as the name implies, its very coffee flavored A special release from Lagunitas, the Cappuccino Stout
Rugged One
I too was also feeling the need for a caffeinated beverage tonight (and also almost went with another Cappucino Stout). Instead it was time for some Bells Java Stout! I hope that livers primed for tomorrow Derek. Let us not forget what happened the last time you tangled with the Derekslayer... Mmmmm, fantastic coffeeishness! It does indeed make me wish they made a Tim Hortons beer...
