Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)

P. 377: Wild Oasis realm in Jungala announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

^If it works like Disney (which I am sure it does) there will have to be someone with a valid Florida Driver's License when you go through the front gates. So, she would we be allowed to buy your tickets but she would have to be present when you go to the park.

Do you have to show ID to use Florida resident perks like that? I assume so. I'll be staying with a Florida resident for two weeks in January, so is she allowed to buy things like this for us as presents?

It would be in your best interest to contact the park and verify. Let us know how they respond as others may be interested.

I understand why they give locals discounts but seriously, don't you want to do something for the families that fly across country to get to Florida or do you just want them to stay with the mouse? Never have been a fan of discounts for a segment of the population.

Those are the suckers who will purchase the safari on their own. Locals are the ones who are much more jaded and harder to get to come to the park, as their mindset is "damn tourists! stay out of my town!" Las Vegas does the same thing, since most locals you talk to will only visit the strip because they work there or have friends visiting from out of town.

I have purchased Florida resident tickets online for Universal before for myself (a FL resident) and several friends (non FL residents) and have never been asked to show ID at the gate. However Disney and Busch Gardens might be completely different and I would bet that if they are giving away a free Safari then they will verify your residency somehow.

Found a really cool video today about the Marketing Campaign for Cheetah Hunt!

Look out for the TPR forums which make an appearance too!

Here is the description

DESCRIPTION:

We just completed our awareness campaign for Busch Gardens Tampa (BGT), in which we worked hand in hand with BGT’s Marketing and PR teams to raise expectation about their newest mega-attraction to be launched in the year 2011. Mindclay Creative conceptualized, produced and deployed many different assets through a period of five months, ending right at the park’s official Global Announcement.

GOALS:

Roll out information about 2011 attraction in a strategic and controlled manner.

Sub-divide information and distribute through several web channels.

Culminate by letting the audience participate in bringing the pieces together.

Prepare audience for official attraction announcement.

Total campaign time bracket: five months.

SOLUTION:

Mindclay devised this campaign within a response-based framework, taking fans from awareness, garnering interest, offering engagement opportunities, and ending on an expectation high-note.

The campaign included many different types of deliverables, all conceived and produced by Mindclay Creative. Among them: Motion graphics intensive teasers, video webisodes with park officials, construction fence artwork with QR-codes (along with metrics-enabled QR technology as a distribution channel), several micro-sites, and two full 3d animations of the still-under-construction coaster.

The video can be found at:

^^ I got that same press release. I told my mom Frankie Avalon is coming right before her birthday and she's already making plans to see him.

I'm happy Kinetix will be back again. It was really an amazing show. Looking forward to what the 2012 version will be like.

I was SO CLOSE to finally getting my mom on Cheetah Hunt, her first roller coaster in years (She has sworn to wait at the exits for me since she took me on Gwazi when I was 8), but it broke down when we were at the turnstiles

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has sent us a press release regarding the birth of their newest Grevy's zebra.

A new Grevy’s zebra was born on Busch Gardens’ 65-acre Serengeti Plain on Friday, November 4. Within an hour after its birth, the female foal was running with the rest of the herd and nursing from its mother.

Just last week, Busch Gardens announced two other additions, a male Cape buffalo, and female Sable antelope.

The buffalo was born to mother Semara on Sept. 21. At the time of his birth, the calf weighed approximately 45 lbs. The playful and explorative youngster now weights 75 lbs. Once full grown, Cape buffalos can weigh up to 2,000 lbs. The Sable Antelope female took her first steps within a few minutes of birth. Though Sable Antelopes are shaky at first, newborns can run fast enough to keep up with the herd within 3-5 days.

Busch Gardens’ guests can view all of the new babies from Rhino Rally, the Skyride or Serengeti Express train ride. For an even closer look, the Serengeti Safari offers guests an open-bed truck tour Serengeti Plain, with opportunities to get up-close to antelope and rhinos and hand-feed giraffes.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm just wondering something. I've always said that the one thing that makes Montu (in my humble opinion) was second best to Kumba solely because of its zero g roll. I've always said that it rolls the wrong way. If it rolled the opposite way, it would feel more natural and smooth. Does anyone have an opinion on this or am I just really nitpicky?

It feels natural to me, but I ride Montu a LOT (I've probably ridden it close to 50 times this year so far), so my opinion is probably moot.

Anyhoo... I was at the park this past Monday and even though some of the schools around here are off all week for Thanksgiving, it wasn't too crowded for the most part. Saw one of the Christmas shows (the one at Desert Grill) and it was cute. Got in 2 rides on Kumba with no wait, 3 on Montu, once on Cheetah Hunt (had a posted 20 minute wait) and rode Lion side of Gwazi (Tiger wasn't running that day). Saw Kasi the cheetah and he gets bigger by the week, but he's still freaking adorable.

I'll be at the park again next Friday with a friend from California and it'll be his first visit to the park. He's been reading up on the coasters and can't wait to ride them.

^^ Completely agree!!! That's my favourite coaster because of that roll! Bgt is my home park so I know it pretty well. Is Montu's roll more of a barrel roll than a true zero g roll because it seems like coming off that immelmann it can't get low enough to then make a true zero g roll. Just my observations...
