If you could tear down one coaster

^Ghostrider is super painful, but I believe it's a cynical ploy by Knott's to increase wheelchair rentals but local Chiropractors are offering discounts if you show you Knott's ticket.

Intrimidator 305 - it's got trim brakes, tear it down now!

I think the Wild Mouse at Quassy will tear itself down, luckily I have the credit so that won't happen when I'm on it.

I mean, maybe I just rode it on a REALLY good day back in March, but I definitely did not find GhostRider to be that bad of a ride, nor did I need medicine after. I thought it had some sweet turns, some great airtime and a thrilling layout. It is also a very pretty coaster. So, I may be the only person in the world, but I don't mind this coaster in the least.

It's REALLY bad -- My GF ended up at the chiropractor the next day!

But it's still a great ride!

I mean if it was rough with a slow, boring layout it would truly suck; the way it stands right now, the crazy violence kind of adds to the thrill. The Wild Mouse at Blackpool is the same way. To me, a woodie like Terminator is so smooth that's it's actually kind of boring. This thing is fast, rough, long and gnarly in a "Holy crap! How is it still standing?" kind of way.

As long as you brace yourself after the two bigger drops, should be okay.

^I'm a 16 year old athlete, and that's the only ride ever to make my back hurt. You've been warned...although I have a feeling it can't be much worse (if even) than your Rampage since they're designed by the same company

Rampage, save for a couple minor potholes and one BAD pothole, is relatively smooth. It all depends on each park's maintenance department keeping up on track work.

I think I'll ride in the front of GhostRider and make sure I'm not sitting on the wheels on any other rides. I'll probably stay away from the back.

^^^^^ You're not the only one. I have rode GhostRider on a regular basis since it opened, and although very rough, I have not been in pain after riding it. It does bounce you around but I have found the tight fitting, well padded seats have kept me from taking any hits which were actually painful.

^I rode Ghostrider in 2005 in September and it was fine, jerky but not punishing and it was the same every time before that. Then August 2007, it was so bad it was it moved into the the "please make it stop" category and in October last year it was still bad. It used to be fun and I've marathoned GR many times but not anymore. I guess because I ride infrequently I really notice if the ride has changed.

Get rid of boomerand at Knotts, and make a nice big space for some Intamin hyper goodness.

Same here. Actually I was just at Knott's last week, and GhostRider, imo, was the smoothest it's been in awhile. Supposedly some of the rougher sections were rebuilt to help smooth it out.

And just for the record, rode a few times (throughout the day, not all at once) in the very back. Had to ride in the very front at the end of the day because there were literally only 3 people on the ride and if the front doesn't have people in it, the train is unable to dispatch (at least according to the ride op who told me I had to move from the back row all the way up to the front).

  • 1 year later...

Not to tear it down completely, but to just fix the .....thing...."Son Of Beast"----looks like it should be such an awesome coaster, but just isn't....Turn it into an El Toro or something....anything, just don't waste the wood. (Um, there's a juvenile joke in there, but that wasn't my intention.)

It's tough to pick one coaster, but I'd probably say Disaster Transport. Runner-ups include Cedar Creek Mine Ride, all Boomerangs, any kiddie coaster with a height requirement over 36", or any family coaster with a height requirement over 42" (specifically Pony Express).

La Vibora at SFOT. I know it's a rare model, but the paint is faded and peeling off, it hurts like hell - it just reeeaallly shows it's age. It either needs some serious rehab or to go bye-bye. In my opinion, the park could do so much better than the ride La Vibora delivers. Put a new coaster and some flats there and nobody will even know it's gone!

^I'd know. And if you were the reason it got removed...you would've made an enemy for life........

Ghostrider. At this point in it's life, it has no airtime. If it did, I could see standing the three minute beat-down you have to put up with. But for the positives you get, verses the negatives you have to deal with...just torch it and clone (or at least mimic) El Toro.
