^I've only had one cycle on it because it was broken for most of the day I was at SFNE. But, it is a ride that definitely deserves its acclaim. Lots of strong airtime taken at high speed. Very nice pacing throughout.

As far as steel goes, I think I only like Insane and GeForce more.

I live in New England and have been on both Superman and Bizarro at least 60-70 times in the past 3 years. Trust me, it deserves it's acclaim. While I think Apollo's Chariot is slightly better, Bizarro may be the most forceful and action-packed coaster I've ever been on.

Bizarro's first drop is an absolute blast as it's very steep and tall. Not only that, but the copious air time offered by each of the ride's hills is excellent, especially on its famous 3rd and 4th hills that practically send you up to the heavens. Finally, the concluding helix is flat out intense!

It's last few years as Superman Ride of Steel, I think it really disappointed a lot of riders.

But, it's first 5 or so years, then now that it's been transformed into Bizarro and given a LOT of TLC, it is truly an amazing experience. It's the perfect mix of speed, airtime, midway interaction, subterranean dives, lateral g force, and...did I mention airtime?

The only thing I can really say is that I like the un-modified first generation Intamin trains better, ala Millennium Force.

But, really. I've been on pretty much every "acclaimed" Intamin coaster in the U.S., and they're all extremely awesome, especially Bizarro. Six Flags New England is a park truly worth a visit...but so are all the other parks with their fantastic Intamin creations. I'd rank the major U.S. Intamin coasters as follows:

1. Bizarro

2. El Toro

3. Millennium Force

4. Superman Ride of Steel

5. Maverick

6. Storm Runner

7. Ride of Steel

8. Fahrenheit

9. Top Thrill Dragster

10. Kingda Ka

It isn't a very good roller coaster. But it is just rated the best, because it is the only roller coaster we can all agree is good. From the few people who posted, you can see the trend already. It is nearly no one's favorite ride, But it is generally in everyone's top 5. So in a way it is overrated. I enjoyed it, not my favorite, but in my top ten? yup.

I'm not one who usually puts the most popular coasters at the top of my favorites list. I generally prefer a ride that is quirky, unique, and interesting over one that is just fast or tall or whatever.

Everyone told me that this coaster would be my #1 steel. It looked good, but seriously.... #1? Then I rode it (it was still S:RoS back then) and was blown away. It not only took my #1 steel spot, it was a serious contender for #1 overall. Hella fun, buttloads of airtime, fantastic pacing, everything you could want in a steelie. I was almost a little disappointed that my #1 steel would be the same ride as lots of other peoples' #1 steel.

Then the next year I rode GeForce and S:RoS had to take a step down. Way down. GeForce was everything I liked about S:RoS, but with a better layout and a seriously wicked first drop that you were still trying to recover from when you hit the brakes at the end. Hell yeah.

When I rode S:ROS last year, I really was dissapointed. When I got off the ride I was truly thinking: "So 'this' is #1?".

I should have known that it's personal taste that makes a coaster good or bad. To me, it's not airtime that means much to me. Montu is still my favorite coaster, closely followed by Goliath (SFMM) and Talon.

I guess democraty put S:ROS #1, There are more people who like airtime on their rides, I guess.

Yes, personal preferences are why those "ranked #whatever in the world" claims are mostly bogus.

Case in point, your listing of Montu, Goliath, and Talon in that order. Of those three, I much prefer Talon over the other two and Goliath doesn't rank anywhere near my top 50 because it's hard for me not to compare it to Titan (SFoT)... the upward helix on Titan, which is sorely missing on Goliath, is my favorite part of that ride. Rides on Goliath leave me feeling like something was left out of my experience.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know... each coaster on its own merit, I got it. Still, that's how I feel when I ride it.

Besides, when the GP flocks to Adam Sandler movies and buys tons of Britney CDs, who's to say that they have any better taste in coasters?

I never got to ride it while it was SRoS as I've never been to SFNE until this year. However, being able to ride it as Bizzaro was one HELL of an experience.

I was excited the whole drive up, knowing I'd finally be able to ride this thing I've seen so many pictures of and heard so much about. I had my doubts, though, as I know Six Flags and their track record with coasters maintaining their awesomeness.

My first ride ever was in the back row. I had a blast, but honestly, the ride was nowhere near a #1 to me. It was just a fun ride. Then...I rode the front.

Sweet mother! I would swear I had a religious experience! The first drop was alright, but the tunnel was evil! Massive headchopper! The second hill provided some good floater air, and here's where things got WAY out of hand. See, in the front row, after you start heading down the second drop, you can feel the weight of the train push you faster. And fast. And the next thing you know, you're being crushed into your seat on the overbank turn from the Gs, only to level out at ground level into a wicked friggin S-curve that stays on the ground. Pure speed. A sudden little dip sends you into hill 3 which meets you with EJECTOR airtime, followed by hill 4 with even STRONGER ejector air. Then, its time for the spaghetti bowl. Up and to the left, down and to the right, up and then down to the left, intense helix with some crazy Gs, up to the left, down to the right into another tunnel that threatens to reclaim your arms for Mother Nature, up and into some quick bunny hops, followed by another ground hugging turn that sends you careening into the breaks at what feels like 500 mph.

Pure. Frickin. Insanity. The effects and soundtrack just make the ride that much more entertaining, too! Highly recommended and I cannot wait to get back up next season.

I've never been on it I'm just curious what makes it so great...

Nothing. That ride is totally overhyped and I was really disappointed by it.

I think it's not even close to being one of the worlds best rollercoasters.

Agreed. It is a fun ride but I prefer Millennium Force and Behemoth over it (It's not even in my top 10). I haven't ridden "Bizarro" yet but I don't care since it is just a lame Six Flags makeover and the paint is probably starting to peel off like GADV's.

Once again, to each his own.

In my mind, Millennium Force is the overhyped coaster. Hell, most of the biggies at CP are way overrated, IMHO. Raptor is OK, Magnum is OK, Mean Streak blows chunks, and MF is only so-so. These are only my opinions, others have theirs. They don't have to agree.

You don't like Superman, Matt?!

It's certainly my #1. To me, it is the perfect roller coaster. It's LOADED with ejector airtime, not that lame, sissy "floater" airtime. I wanna feel like the restraints aren't going to hold and I'm going to die. It has a ridiculous first drop. It has 2 AWESOME tunnels, 2 of the most intense helices, an amazing layout, great overbanked turn, and ends with 3 killer-bunny hops.

I don't particularly like a lot of the Bizarro elements (the audio is annoying), but it is still EASILY my #1.

As for Millennium Force, I like the ride, but it just lacks intensity apart from the first drop. There really isn't any ejector air (as opposed to the 8+ on Bizarro) and lacks great, forceful helices. I think once I305 opens, Millennium might not see a top 10 list ever again.

I'd have to say I was expecting a whole lot from this ride when I rode it last summer, but it delivered. WAY better pacing than most steel coasters I've been on, and it is firmly in the number one spot out of the 200+ coasters I've personally been on.

Bottom line on things like this, you can't base a ride on what others say. You have to experience it for yourself. SFNE is a solid park that is well worth the trip IMHO. Go ride Bizarro and see for yourself.

I like the ride but I think it is overrated. I rode MF when I was 12 & was hooked on it also it was my first "big" coaster which is why MF is my #1 steel. As for Superman, you get good air & the first drop is fun but it just doesn't do it some reason for me. I look for qualities in a coaster & I'm just impressed. Maybe because it is a Six Flags park? I don't really no.

^Agreed.

^^And you say you don't have any desire to ride it, now that it's Bizarro? In case you haven't noticed, it's not just a "lame Six Flags makeover", they actually have the coaster the TLC it's been in dire need of for years. The ride experience is actually changed. Rather than crawling over the hills like it had been the past few years, it actually flies over them like crazy again.

I've never understood the idiots who try to hate certain parks for no reason. Under the old Six Flags management, there were definitely some operational issues. But, under the new management, I personally find Six Flags parks to be better-run than Disney or Cedar Fair parks. People complain about the prices, when food prices are the same across the industry at parks. But, people fail to notice that a Six Flags season pass costs $70, add parking and you total $100...plus you get a discount book and discounts on most food/games/retail items. My Cedar Fair Platinum Pass cost me $160, and I only found one shop at Cedar Point with any kind of discount for it, no food discounts, and no coupon book. People complain about the theming...personally, I find The Golden Kingdom at Six Flags Great Adventure to be up to par with Disney/Universal theming. Then, three of my top five coasters are all at Six Flags parks. I think people need to stop complaining and enjoy parks/coasters for what they are. But I guess everyone needs something to hate.

^ Six Flags has some sort of stigma behind it that causes uber-fanboys of other park chains to curse its name whenever it's mentioned. Basically this stigma began in the late-90s when SF went on a park/coaster buying spree and the state of the parks in general went downhill. 2004-2005 were SF's lowest point, but once new management took over, SF has been improving its image by focusing on drawing families and bringing people back through the gates that way than the teenage/thrillseeker demographic they focused on in the past. Fanboys however are blind to this and continue to worship their favorite parks while bashing SF parks.

I like SF and CP, if it weren't for those stupid CEO's, there wouldn't have been a roller coaster race and we'd be stuck with crappy vekoma's.

And one more reaction to the topicstarter: If you read "SROS is #1", than that either means, it's #1 for other people.

Now I could tell you that McD's burgers are the best, a hunderd people could tell you that McD's got the best, but if you prefer Burger King, SO BE IT.
