P. 469: Hard-Hat Tour of the Wolf's Revenge

I was very pleased that the name was "Verbolten" and not some of the other possibilites that had been "leaked" eariler. I'm looking forward to this new ride. BGW took a chance with DarKastle, and I'm glad they want to go with something different for their new coaster.

^Omg, are you complaining again? As for me, I think this is going to be a great addition, and love that they'll be utilising Wolfie's drop to the water. I can not wait to see the final product.

I don't think that was a complaint. Sounds more like a question or a curiosity of other's opinion.

Some people here need to chill. I see so much insecurity in how people write their thoughts, personal thoughts and comments.

No, Scotcher he was complaining. He even admitted three posts later that he likes the ride more than before.

Agreed, many posters need to think before they write post after post. I see more stupidity than insecurity.

So, I had the chance to attend the Verbolten/HOS announcement on Saturday and it's time to give my opinion.

From the details so far, I love the ride. It looks like an awesome addition to the park and so far it's everything I expected (maybe even more). I'm so glad the park decided to keep the Verbolten name I'm really excited about the special "world firsts" and that will go on inside the building. I was hoping the park would release a POV of the ride, but considering they didn't leak the vibrating seats/audio on Mach Tower, I'm not surprised.

My biggest criticism is the 48 inch height requirement, especially considering LNM and Mach Tower already cover the 48 inch requirement and BBW was a 42 inch ride. I really wish the park can figure out a way to lower the height requirement to 42 so that more kids can ride (i.e. extra seatbelt on the ride like the Waveswinger).

On another note, Saturday was awesome! The park held an awesome event after hours for employees including Mach Tower ERT! The ride is so much better after dark, despite a view of complete blackness. The drop feels like it lasts forever.

Yes, there always seems to be a rash of this after a new ride is formally announced. Overall, I like what I'm hearing about Verbolten and am inclined to wait and see how it plays out.

I've just gotten up to speed with this announcement and think it sounds great. I think Busch Gardens Wiliamsburg is one of the few seasonal parks that can successfully pull off a well themed interactive coaster. Really excited to see this thing develop.

In the last few years, BGW has given us a major new dark ride, a unique drop tower with audio and some cool tricks, and now we're getting a custom dark ride/coaster with two launches.

If Disney and Six Flags hooked up and had a baby, that baby would be Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

I don't think anyone posted a video of the announcement, so, if you weren't there, here you go. It was a great event, but I wish we could have heard more about the coaster.

Crossbow at Bowcraft Playland which in my view is the same kind of model as Verbolten (Zierer ECS), and it allows for 42" children to come along with an adult, so it shouldn't really be a problem to do that, maybe they feel like it's going to be too "scary" for such young children to come along.

I'm also pretty sure that Wicked also have the same seating/restraint system and they allow from 46"...

So the restraints can easily cope with smaller children, so we have to wait and see if there might be a change until opening...

Doesn't Wicked have some kind of leg restraints?

@ Larrygator No that specific post was not a complaint, it was a question. I looked at the plans again and realized it's brilliant ride once I put two and two together, which was why I said I liked it more than I did before.

But the 48" requirement baffles me. When I was young(er), my parents always complained about me wanting to ride BBW because it was so jerky. But maybe Zierer's making new trains just for Verbolten? There are a lot of variables, and it really comes down to what the company and the park can agree on. I would say that Cheetah Hunt has a 48" requirement, but they have 42" req for Scorpion. I hate to say it, but maybe Loch Ness Monster's just a ticking time bomb? I don't know, just a guess.

It was a bit of curiosity, but I was just being facetious. I had read all the posts from the announcement and was just having some fun. No harm done.

^^I know I'll get some flak for this but I wouldn't mind seeing Loch Ness Monster enter the end of its "service life" within the next few years. The track of land that LNM sits on would lend itself well to a nice terrain wing rider or flyer.

Posted

Maybe this is just a ploy to give the kids something to do and while they're busy with that stuff, take down LNM and put in something new? That would be evilllll...

I agree though, a flyer or a Wingrider would be magical across the Rhine. But it's not really something BGW needs. What they really need now is an S&S Screamin' Swing.

And ^ it was in the form of a question. And there were no explanation points in the post whatsoever. And why would I be complaining if it doesn't effect me? Teehee

The day that LNM is removed may be the last day I go to BGW. I firmly believe it is the heart, soul and inspiration of the entire coaster collection. I can't imagine BGW without the coaster that is a living legend. I would rather see Griffon torn down. That's what I believe.

^^And if it floats like a duck then it be a witch! (I love Monty Python references)

^ After Verbolten is indeed a curious question, rumors based on markers seen near the train, we can expect some type of train station to be added to Germany possibly. We can expect more from Germany in the next few years. Then perhaps Italy can get some new love.

^I liked LNM when I first rode it in the early 90's (it may have even been my favorite coaster for a while) but it just doesn't do much for me these days (and can sometimes be downright painful). I have a feeling you're right though. It's such an industry icon that it may be quite a while before it goes anywhere. The uproar when the end of BBW was announced will be nothing compared to what it will be like when LNM gets chopped.

Not saying it'll leave anytime soon (Pretty sure it just got a new paint job this year), but I fear it'll be the last paint job it ever gets. I agree it is very iconic, but have you ever noticed how all throughout the day it's pretty much walk-on?

Also, are you saying that you believe Loch Ness Monster is a better coaster than Griffon?

I have been plenty of times when it was a full queue, and that was a monday. It really depends on when you go.

Holy crap, how did you all get started on writing LNM off?? Unless it rusts all the way through to the point of disrepair, it aint going anywhere anytime soon......or later!

On Verbolten, it will be nice to see exactly how it is gonna utilize the drop to the river and if it will be as effective as BBW's drop.

^Agreed. Folks, Nessie isn't going anywhere, so there's no sense in such speculations. Let's keep this discussion focused on what we know.

Thank you.
