rcjp
Those trains look great! I like how sleek and low they look.
Diamondbacker27
Does the park plan to have a front-of-the-line type pass this year? No, someone asked this on their FB page and they replied that they have had no plans for it this year, but maybe in the upcoming years. So no, for now, unless they decide to change their minds. yay101
I like these trains! The front section of the first car reminds me of the old Steel Dragon 2000 trains
DJeXeL
^Hopefully all of the wheels will stay on the train....
rcjp
^Probably Morgan wasn't used to having the wheels on the outside of the track, hence them coming off.
TM3988
I am probably the only one here who isn't overly excited about this ride lol. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the experience of the ride itself will be so much fun but I don't care for the colors of the ride nor the trains. The design of the trains, the layout of the ride, look and colors are just all unappealing to me. Not trying to be negative, Just a personal opinion. Although it has been very interesting keeping up with all the construction and changes of the park since the announcing of the reopening.
PVA62
That is definitely one of my new favorite trains. I love the look of it, and I think it looks even better on the track!
glouthan
Those trains look freakishly similar to Rocky Mountain's trains on Outlaw Run.
fraroc
Morgan hypers are pretty good, I enjoyed the one that I went on (Steel Force) so it's nice to see them get back into the game of coaster-making.
rcjp
^Especially as this one seems more promising than their older hypers (well, at least in terms of airtime and twistyness)
Lareson
As a reminder, Morgan no longer exists and the name of the company is only Chance Rides. Yes, Chance absorbed all of Morgan's assets, but with the recent re-structuring of the company, they completely dropped the "Morgan" name from the company and are now Chance Rides as a whole. Moving on past my OCD.... Lightning Run has certainly gone past my expectations from what I've seen so far. For those that don't follow their Facebook page, IOE is heading down to Kentucky Kingdom now to get the ride ready to go for testing. Not sure if this is to get the PLC and wiring installed, or to run through the system for testing. I'm assuming at this point in the game they'd be getting ready to start testing. IOE
Thanks for the shout out, Lareson!! I just arrived in Louisville tonight to begin work at Kentucky Kingdom tomorrow. This has been a busy week after being at both Kennywood and the Indianapolis Zoo, but now it's time to bring Lightning Run to life. The PLC cabinets have been on site and installed for a while now and work is going on to get all of the wiring pulled and terminated. We are pushing hard to get to the point of starting to test run the ride. I will be posting updates on the Irvine Ondrey Engineering facebook page when I can so come check us out. First run time is almost here!!! -Brian Ondrey Edited May 2, 2014 by IOE
gerstlaueringvar
I love the trains!!! Can't wait to see them fly through the track! Is there a reason why the upstop wheels are separated that much compare with most coaster trains with two upstop wheels per wheel set?
Lareson
No prob Brian! Figured no one posted that you were heading down there, so I figured I'd share the news that IOE was heading to the park. Just means Lightning Run is getting that much closer to completion! The 2 upstop wheels are inline with the road wheels, like most 6-wheeled bogies, but probably just looks weird because of the smaller wheels since others use a slightly bigger wheel. This is a completely brand new train and bogie design, but from what I've seen, it's a heck of a lot better than the older designs from Morgan. After seeing how skinny the wheels are on the Morgan trains, it's no wonder why there's been issues with them. Glad Chance decided to have the trains completely redesigned. thrillseeker4552
The trains look great! Since these trains are so similar to RMC trains, I'm curious if they will have seat belts or not.
Diamondbacker27
I never actually thought about seat belts in the train. I hope there are none.
_koppen
That waterside is absolutely ridiculous. In an AWESOME way! I think even I would think twice before going on that thing, lol. I can't decide if I like the trains for LR or not. In one way they look very impressive with it's big appearance of the front vehicle, as well as the edgy look of the rest of it. On the other hand those things also look weird. I'm not sure how I feel yet.. Also surprised the trains are only 4 cars long, I thought they were going to have 5? rcjp
Also surprised the trains are only 4 cars long, I thought they were going to have 5? I think they are. If you look closely at this picture you can count 10 rows of seats. Probably they just hadn't put the last car on the track when the other picture was taken.
