thrillerman1
This picture reminds me a lot of leviathan's first hill. So glad to have such an amazing coaster about 15 minutes from home! Sorry for double post. Looks really good and hope LR rides as such! I plan to get to KK soon to check it out! I'm glad KK is coming back.
Jon Sabo
KK is going to have a winner with this coaster. I love the color scheme!
DanTheBooker
While I agree that Lightning Run looks great, I think everyone is giving it a little too much credit earlier on. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this basically a prototype? I think it's awesome that Chance is back in the full sized coaster game. Also, I'm stoked to see KK reopening, I guess I'm just a little hesitant to think that this coaster is going to be great, especially right away. You have to realize this is TPR, and many people give their opinion on a coaster before they have ridden it.
gerstlaueringvar
^Yeah, I still remember the comments of Vliegende Hollander. People thought the airtime hill would make some crazy airtime but it turned out pretty slow. This time, however, people are confidence about Lightning Run because Chance (or Morgan) used to build some great coasters like Phantom's Revenge and Steel Eel. Another thing is that both LR's track and trains are designed by top engineering group. This rids should be amazing, just not sure whether it will be top 50 amazing, top 20 amazing, top 10 amazing or top 5 amazing.
DaMarkSta
I'm just really excited to try out the "Mega-Lite" concept, I remember back before Skyrush was announced there were rumors that would be a mega-lite but that was not true obviously. While I know it's not an Intamin mega-lite I believe LR is a perfect fit for this park, and am really excited to ride it this year on the New Hotness Tour! mudvayneimn
I totally forgot when Thunder was taking place... Anyways, something to look forward to seeing this weekend! The park now probably looks vastly different than what it used to, I'm sure. Im going to try to go to Thunder. I dont know if that will happen though. Heres to hoping. If you can make it to Thunder GO! An additional 14,000 fireworks have been added this year; over 70,000 shells total will be launched Saturday. Back to KK, with all the hoopla over the arrival of the Blue Angels, F-22, and this Saturday's fireworks, a nice little KK progress slideshow managed to slip through the cracks....I did not know FearFall was actually Purple?! Full slideshow found here. Purrrrrrrrrple. photo from WLKY.
Diamondbacker27
At least it's different from all of the regular old white towers. Here's an awesome video posted by WLKY. Really shows the beauty of the park. http://m.wlky.com/news/kentucky-kingdom-gives-sneak-peek-just-weeks-before-reopening/25395560
Tanks4me05
Holy crap, that's a lot steeper of a first drop than what I was expecting. It makes me happy that Chance/Morgan is finally back onto the coaster scene, Phantom's Revenge is fantastic.

GrapesLie
I really don't think they will. You can't see it super well in this photo but the shin guards are molded and very padded! I have a feeling these will be very comfy trains!

Lareson
Where was lighting runs track made?? More than likely at Chance's manufacturing plant in Kansas. They're more than capable of making it there since they manufactured a few of the Vekoma coasters during the partnership they had a couple years ago. You can actually check out this satellite view of their factory and see familiar yellow track and a big blue support waiting on a flatbed if you go south a bit on the map. More than likely that's track for Freedom Flyer. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chance+Rides+Manufacturing+Inc/@37.6721305,-97.3934716,212m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!1m2!2m1!1schance+rides!3m1!1s0x87bae1287bfdde7d:0x6a56fab94e114714 I didn't realize how many parts and pieces they keep on site for their rides. Looks like they have quite the property there and from what I can spot, parts for a gondola wheel.
sfkk
The Kentucky Kingdom web site now includes height limits. Some have changed, for instance the minimum height him Himalaya is 60 inches and Breakdance is 54 inches, o well safety first I guess.
linearinduction
Minimum 60" for a Bobs? That must be a Typo, right? That's almost Double the Height Requirement for any other transportable chance bobs I've seen!
ajfelice
Holy Height Requirements! 56" to ride alone on Roller Skater but you can ride an adult wooden coaster, Thunder Run, alone at 48"? I know manufacturers are different, but still, I don't think Vekoma requires 56" to ride alone. Or hypothetically, junior at 48" tall goes up to FearFall and rides alone then walks over to Roller Skater and is told he needs a responsible person. Huh? I really hope someone was just a little drowsy at the keyboard entering those in for the website.
Midgetman82
Sad to see Enterprise's height requirement go up. Oh well, 54" it is then. 60" minimum to ride Himilaya definitely seems silly to me, along with 54" to ride Roller Skater by yourself (but that must be from the new launch and 15 inversions they implemented recently ). Anywho, I made a quick run by the park. Basically the entire front-half of the park received a whole new facelift (as I'm sure the rest of the park did). Lightning Run is only missing the small section of track before the station, the drop tower is indeed purple, and plenty of families were coming in and out of the season pass entrance to get their passes before it goes up to $99.95 soon (act fast if you haven't)! Even with the park not open yet, I can already sense the excitement! Enterprise's carriages are back on the wheel, and received a new coat of paint. Ooh, looky! Lift hill complete! The only thing missing here is a huge digital clock on the ferris wheel. Almost all of the new rides are on the front-half of the park (minus all water park rides). Closeup porn of drop gondola. ... because some of us can never get enough. I can really dig the color scheme on the flying scooters. I just wanna know who Professor John is. Oh, hello again The park's skyline from the front isn't half bad! It's gonna be pretty exciting to finally try all of these new rides! *gasp* The speed slide complex finally rises! Deep Water Dive and Wave Runner soon to be complete.
CoasterGuy06
Huss raised their minimum on Enterprise rides to 54" several seasons ago. The requirement for the pirate ship is shocking. Unless something has changed, Huss allows a much lower requirement than the one they have posted

GigaG
CP (infamous for badly excessive height restrictions) runs their Enterprise at 54" and their Vekoma junior at 48" for an unaccompanied rider (36" with an adult, I think.) Their Matterhorn (Bobs-type ride) is not 60". I'm hoping that is for riding alone and not in general.
_koppen
OMG, they chose purple for the drop tower, I now officially love you KK! I wonder if the new free fall slide will use a Skyox or not?
