p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

I'm not sure where all the numbers about number of cycles/hours needed are coming from - but I don't think those are the norm of new rides. Take Lightning Run for example - it certainly didn't have 200 hours of testing prior to opening. I know here in Orlando the coasters at FunSpot opened a day or two after the first test runs.

Just got back from being there a few hours starting at around 4. Two buses, lot of cars in the overflow lot but also alot of spaces open near the buses. Lines same as last two weekends, except X Flight which had a few less flash passers and a line not even back to the control tower(and it got even shorter by the time we exited). Whizzer line was about 20 min. The ride isn't feeling any different than last year. Still jerky on some of the turns. First time I saw RB was when they closed Viper temporarily and the queue was full but not overflowing to the test seat or anything. Posted wait was 75 min. Wife went on Giant Drop instead, which was almost a walk up. Went back to Viper and saw they were doing test runs, so we waited a few minutes and then the ride reopened. It isn't giving me the same charge that it was a few months ago. But it's far less violent than the Eagle and offers a much better experience in my view. Maybe next month my body will have readjusted to it.

That JB's place is awesome. I'd say it's on par with something like Smash Burger or Meathead's. Wait is minimal. Plenty of tables.

Next up was Demon. I ended up lifting my knees some on that first drop so it feels less like a crash. I'm really liking the inversions more but they are so jerky as you go through them that it takes away from the enjoyment factor some. It cooled down a lot by the time we went on X Flight. Same place as last time, outer seat row row 4 right side. This time it felt more intense and almost disorienting at times. Slightly jerky too. It was forceful enough to push my harness down as many notches as it could after leaving the station. Too bad I couldn't hit Batman for comparison. East River Crawler looks to be back in order with the lobster head rotating all the way now. More spin action than last year.

The stage show is better than Ignite but still well below what I've seen at Cedar Point. Fireworks were ok. Nothing too unique. Parade doesn't work as well with Dancing in the streets. The music felt kinda flat to me. Liked Glow in the Park a lot better. Goliath looks a lot more complete.

Just got word that the media day has been postponed until Friday, June 6th. I will try to get more details but I'm posting this from a plane right now. From what I've been told, it's still the same event, just happening next Friday instead of this Thursday.

I know this is not good news and it will be an inconvenience for some (I, too am going to have to pay to change my travel), but that's just the reality of how these things go. When a park is doing things that people say can't be done, sometimes delays are inevitable. And let's be honest, I think the end result will be well worth the wait!

Hope to see many of our Club TPR members on June 6th!

^ Thanks for posting this new information before you boarded, very helpful! I was planning on June 4th and will need to change plans also. Too bad because I was trying to get there before school let out.

Wow, I did not think they would be wokring today of all days. They really want this done.

And as for the media day change, does that mean that the opening of the actual ride for GP be postponed as well?

Nice o/t pay for them

I'll be visiting the park for the first time on the 9th. At first, I didn't know if they were going to make it. Now with Media day being on the 6th, looks like I'll just making. Glad to hear they are taking the extra week to get everything done.

I'll be sure to pop back into this thread later today to see all of the hilariously over-dramatic angry posts from fanboys.

I think it's great they're not rushing. It's a bummer, for sure, but they're doing what they need to in order to make sure the ride is safe and working properly rather than rushing it.

Shockingly, there hasn't been any. What's funny about this is you know damn well if this was an Intamin ride people would be FREAKING THE F**K OUT and creating all sorts of drama. Just proves, once again, that all that crap is made up by anti-Intamin haters.

I think we all saw this one coming, or at least I did.

And this is what makes you better than the rest of us. Not only did you see this coming, but you had the humility to point it out to the rest of us idiots who were hoping otherwise. I'm sure with this cavalier ammount of hubris in your arsenal, you will make fast friends of everyone you meet, and greatly impress peers and future employers. The skys the limit for you young man! Keep up the great work. You're making your generation proud!

Damn Intamin. When are they gonna build a decent ride? I-305 is a kiddie coaster, man!

I just thought I'd share my opinion, like everyone else does. No need to be rude. It's okay to disagree, but don't be a jerk about it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with what you said, some people are just easily bothered

A delay isn't the end of the world, but I wouldn't call it "a good thing". Goals were set and not met, pieces were put up and taken down, multiple reschedulings, etc, all in all bad news for the park. It seems like this was an unusually problematic build for RMC. Yes it was a rough winter, but I wonder if that was the whole story.

It is good that they are delaying to make sure they are safe. Two days of testing would be a tight squeeze, and when it comes to a coaster, there is no such thing as too much testing.

Alternatively, Six Flags could avoid disappointments to media outlets and guests and travellers by actually starting construction at a normal time. I mean, how many Six Flags rides get delayed each year? Meanwhile, you've got coasters like I-305, built through three blizzards and torrential downpours, that open as-scheduled.

I understand that delays happen - I work on engineering projects too. I just don't see how a company like Six Flags can be so willing to promise opening days year after year and consistently fail to meet them. Either announce an opening day of June 21 for every new ride, or start groundwork earlier. No decent business (or contractor, whoever it is that they keep using) should feel that it's acceptable to provide products so late so reliably.

I think that your opinion is perfectly okay. I agree with you that we all saw this coming. Some people just like to be an a$$ about things.

I agree, especially considering SFGAM is located in an area of the U.S. notorious for harsh winter weather. Be different if the park was in Southern California or Florida...
