If the GP seriously think this is just another Psyclone, then we shouldn't have a problem with that. Why? Shorter lines for the rest of us!

While that is potentially true, it would really stink for Six Flags if their brand new coaster was automatically branded a bad ride just because it's wooden! So I hope that the general public figures it out so that Six Flags can have an across the board winner - granted I think good word of mouth should fix that.

At school today someone asked if the shirt I was wearing came from Six Flags. It was a Goliath shirt and I said yea I have, and then they said if I heared that there s a new ride called Terminator and it excactly like Goliath mixed with Psyclone and re painted. Everyone is thinking Termy sucks just because it is wood and it is where Psyclone was. Well bad for Six Flags good for us

I could be completely wrong, but I think the problem (at least for southern California) is that there are really no outstanding wooden coasters here. The only wooden coasters in SoCal that the GP will most likely compare it to is Ghostrider... and maybe Colossus, which are just seen by the GP as 'okay' rides.

This is why I'm excited for Terminator. SoCal needs a good, quality wooden coaster. Hopefully this can show the GP not all wooden coasters are rickety and rough.

EDIT: ^ Beat me to the punch.

^ & ^^ Yes most definitely I can attest to that. I sometimes mention to other kids at school that Magic Mountain is getting a new coaster and when they ask, "ooohh what is it?" and I tell them that it's a wooden coaster they become completely unexcited. Everyone around here hates wooden coasters because of Psyclone, Colossus, and Ghostrider.

Between that and people thinking that it's just Psyclone again, I'm not sure how hot the GP's reception of the ride is going to be...

^ With how many people have posted something like that, it seems like a lot of the community just thinks its another psyclone/bad woodie. Which means less lines until they come to their senses.

"I would think that, if nothing else, there will at least be a light effect on the fly-through." (DiSab)

Fireworks? No, wait...this thing's made of wood!

But some kind of tricked out LED type stuff would be cool.

One thought I've had---on other GCII coasters with station fly-throughs, how much noise is made when the train zooms overhead? Could it disrupt any themed music that might be going?

Why is it shady? A lot of the parks change/end promotions with the start of the summer season. Knotts has an online ticket deal ending May 16th, Disney's 2fer ticket deal ends June 3rd, and USH's buy a day get a year free deal ends June 14th.

They just want another reason to call magic mountain shady! Magic Mountain does it, its shady , Disneyland does it its labeled at 'strategic marketing' by them.

Tale as old as time!

Well hopefully it isn't a flop and word of mouth helps to create a huge buzz about the coaster. Because Six Flags needs the business. But at least that means that around opening it shouldn't be that busy.

haha oops, what I meant to say was that it's pretty smart marketing, but it kinda leaves them in an awkward spot, either promote their new ride which is most likely the big money maker, or do their "shady" (jk ) marketing strategy

Wow, it just sucks that people can't realize that it is a new coaster. Oh well better for us.

So has the coaster been seen testing?

Well with their Facebook pictures showing off the trains being put on the track, they probably have been testing (or will test) the trains this week.

Wow. Only a little over a week left !

Long time lurker, first time poster.

My "local" park is Worlds of Fun. Of course, this year they introduced the Prowler, another GCI coaster. Once the trains were on the track, they were testing within 3-4 days.

Now, the reason I've been watching this thread so closely, is 3 friends plus myself are taking a motorcycle ride from central KS all the way to Valencia the last week of May. With the grand opening of this coaster supposedly on the 21st, and the point at which they are on the ride, is starting to cause a bit of concern for us.

^ Last week in May, I think you'll be okay.

I sure hope so. That's a long way to ride to be turned away at the gate. I might have to go "Griswold" on the park if it isn't.

I hope this and X2 will spark Six Flags 2 do more re theming and adding cooler Coasters.. 2010 there's going to be a new family coaster, hoping it will have a good balance of family and thrill.. Six Flags needs to consider a new accelerator coaster which possibly beats xcclerator

Hutch to Denver will be the most boring trip of your entire life. Depends on if you head to Denver or just shoot south though
