Nrthwnd
Mmm, I can almost smell the fresh black track. Lookin' good there, Liseberg.
Jon Sabo
Love the video. ^ I thought the track was dark green. Is it the video that makes most parts of the track a black color?
Nrthwnd
^ It very well may be green. My eyes, my age, who knows? Still looks great.
simon8899
Just looking at the parts that are already up one can say that this will at least be a good ride. And in 6 months I will check if its great....
Loefet
A small update with some information regarding Helix and the funicular was posted on the Blog today, together with the video posted earlier. The funicular is a work in progress at this point, so there might take some time until it's opened, but it's a key investment that needs to be done to increase the accessibility to the top of the hill. There are still several steps left before we will see any press releases etc. So we just have to wait and see when it is done and opened. About Helix, then there is plenty of parts that have arrived over the past few weeks and they there are daily deliveries so the staging area is filling up nicely, just hope that they have plenty of space to be able to receive it all before they start to build the Helix puzzle. The further erection of the coaster will start on the 13:th of January so there is still some time until then. There are only a few footers left that needs pouring and the station building is rising fast, and they won't wait for the installation of the track but push on as much as possible to get everything ready as soon as possible. So there will be no more Blog updates until the work really starts to pick up the pace next year. Link: http://projekthelix.se/god-jul-och-gott-nytt-helix-ar-2014/ Can't wait to see the ride rise tall over the hill
Coaster Cow
Considering how long it took the park to place all the footers (or at least how long it felt through months of following the progress here), I really love how quickly the track is going up! Also, what did we ever do before remote-controlled drones/helicopters with cameras on them?
Loefet
Mini-update Some images from last night, there is loads of new stuff at the staging area now, and judging by the numbers of the parts then it looks like both the pretzel and the inverted top-hat are here in pieces, so there won't take that long before they would be completed once they start again with the erection. Looking gorgeous.. ..and the "tree" is massive Loads of new track since the blizzard update Catwalk for the turn between the final brakes and station There isn't much space left outside I think that these twisty bits will be part of the pretzel All nice and ordely Close up Can't wait for all these pieces to be installed

Lagom
Hello, TPR forum. I'm new here. I like this thread a lot, so i thought signing up and sharing some photos would be the right thing to do. Yesterday i visited Liseberg. It's always nice to spend some time at Liseberg during christmas. I love what they do with the park this time of the year. All the lights and different stalls are just amazing. If you don't have any christmas spirit before you enter the park, there's a pretty good chance you do when you leave it. It was all good to see Helix for the first time. It looks wonderful. Unfortunately it was very dark at the Liseberg hill so didn't manage to snap some really good photos. Lights Helix on the hill It looks so good Place for ice skating "Kaninlandet" Santas workshop Balder is taking a rest before the summer comes back On my way up to the "Wheel of Liseberg" (Lisebergshjulet) Liseberg from above (Lisebergshjulet) One more picture of Helix On my way home i snaped one last picture. See you in 2014 Liseberg!

Loefet
Helix Update - last update for 2013!! So today is the second to last day that Liseberg is open for this year, and since I don't have the time to do an update tomorrow then it will have to be done today This was the first time that Liseberg is opened in the days between Christmas and New Year, in the years before they shut the day before Christmas so this was a bit of a novelty. And during these days after Christmas they are having a small fireworks every evening which is always nice. As I said in the last update I did, I had a look through the stands to see what they had to offer in terms of food , well, it was mostly candy tbh. , but that don't really matter I scored some lovely fudge to bring with me home and well as a pig made from marzipan, which was requested from my dad. Anyway onto the pictures, and we start as always with some shots at the Helix staging ground!! This time before dark so you can actually see what they have laying around Lots of different size supports This is the catwalk for the turn at the station These may be part of the Pretzel or the Zero-g Loads of stuff The RCS crane is still here And a final shot of the staging area Since they had hiked the price on the parking area next to the staging area (it used to be a low cost alternative) we decided to go to the part of the city that is across the highway at Liseberg and scored some free parking on a side-street (around 5 minute walk from the park itself), and thanks to that we also got a lovely view of the park on the way there Here we go!! Mmmmm, Helix Delicious Can't wait for them to install the track down this slope. Seems like they have just done the last footer in this area This is the only area (that I know of) that still need it's footers (there is apparently much harder for them to make the footers here, must be the famous Gothenburg mud.. Looks just as good as ever Really close call with the escalator Weee, Upside down!! This area is closed due to attraction assembly Just think that the top-hat will be almost twice as tall as Uppswinget, it's going to be MASSIVE!! Mmmmm Can't really see that much down the slope, but the pretzel is going to look huge down the hill A lot of the stuff are done, but there is still plenty to do Lot of cables have been installed so far Footers for the final in-line The final footers are also in place Almost looks like they have added a wall to make the building whole again The station have risen a lot since last time I was here A sneak peak into the queue area The roof will soon go in, I guess that they are waiting for the track pieces to go in before they will close it all up Just the roof and walls to go in before it will look a lot more as a complete station Plenty of space underneath here And a lot more under the maintenance shed Back down the mountain again Helix is looking tall up on the mountain, can't wait for it to meander across the whole of the hillside Still some work to do here to fix the footers on Lisebergbanan Not much to see here, but it's still going to be awesome once it's all done Enough of helix, here are some lovely fudge instead And some roasted almonds Mmmm, love these!! Marzipan cigars Part of the medieval marketplace with loads of wooden weaponry Random wild animals stuffed into sausages Perfect placement of the medieval market They made genuine medieval artefacts here Liseberg with lights And some kind of goat , sheep and hens Kanonen is taking a winter nap A great place for a meal Cabbage, sauce, preserved uncooked lingonberry and a load of delicious Suovas (smoked reindeer meet)/Elk kebab in bread. This is heaven!! Onwards!! Mmmmm, meat of various animals Care for a nibble Wait what, no reindeer's?? The sign says that they have all left together with Santa Claus at Christmas, I really doubt it since I most likely ate some of them a little bit earlier The Santa's work shop is -> that way, good to know.. Looking epic!! This one too Mmmm, more delicious things, I'm pretty sure that these were filled with raspberries or custard Mmmm, various stuff thrown on "Chocolate bread", wonder how much "bread" there are in these things More high calories stuff Don't get me started on these "pigs" One of the best additions of 2013 Along with this EPIC Lovely Kaninlandet Got a little glimpse of the Ice show Loads of reindeer's on ice And Liseberg rabbits And an awesome Glockenspiel It was a really spectacular show A shame that we didn't arrive earlier to see the whole thing (or at least see anything at all, too many people and not enough space to be able to see above them that were standing in front of you) Then after another wait (this time we grabbed a great space to be able to see the whole thing) the fireworks begun!! A great combination between lighting, music and of course fireworks Great Christmas themed music And even though the fireworks itself were pretty small it felt massive together with all the lighting effects More MORE And the FINALE!! By Liseberg for this year, see you next season with loads of Helix action!! And with this I bid you all a happy new year, see you in 2014!! Loefet
Thanks a lot everyone!! It's a shame the weather is so screwed up, nothing beats a snowy liseberg this time of year! Agree, but then again, it was pretty nice yesterday, sure beats -15°C anyway On one of the good days this winter they brought in a massive 44000 visitors, that's about 10% of the total attendance on the whole of a normal winter season, in ONE DAY. Incredible! Nrthwnd: I wish you the same. rctneil: it's just less than 17 weeks to go until their open again I know I can't possibly be the only one who really wants this to just go up already. Not at all On another note, there was an article in the paper today that there were a small fire on the roof on the main stage at Liseberg yesterday evening after a misfire during the fireworks show, we completely missed it, but thankfully it was only a small one which the Liseberg personnel managed to extinguish themselves. Loefet
^ Thank you!! Just wanted to add that they will resume the erection of the ride on Monday!! So tune in the web-cams starting Monday morning CET: http://projekthelix.se/hem/nyheter/ Next week the winter will finally arrive here in Sweden, so I really hope that it won't hinder the progress for the RCS guys too much. Other updates will come as they are available, but I hope that I can post some images each week until it's done. But even if the steel have been put on hold during the winter holidays, there have been plenty of progress with the rest of the ride. Until next time, here are a couple of web-cam images. The station have moved along much since they shut after the winter season. The Scaffolding have been put up today for instance, so we will definitely see some wall action soon. They are still working hard to get the last few footers in place. The Pretzel area is progressing slowly, but they poured a large slab only yesterday, I really hope that the footers in the area prove to be less difficult.
