Six Flags New England (SFNE) Discussion Thread

p. 337: Quantum Accelerator family coaster announced for 2025!

Personally I'd love to see a mix of airtime and inversions. Given Cyclone's current layout, I can see this being like a mini NTG, starting with tall overbanked turns and ending with a lower airtime-filled run to the station. But so far the remakes have been all about that first drop, and I'm REALLY curious what they'll do about Cyclone's. Does that first drop even go halfway to the ground? OMG suddenly I'm imagining them keeping that first drop how it is, then the long turnaround, then CATAPULTING you into a second crazy near-vertical drop the rest of the way to the ground...

Looking at the first drop, I could see them literally dropping this sucker all the way down to the footings, looking very similar to the first drop and turns on the Intamin Mega-lites and Chance Hyper-lites. Then it would go through that hill over the lift. Looking at the hill, I thought that it might be a possible inversion. Now seeing the way it is bridged, looks like it could be one hell of an airtime hill. Much like ones that follow the initial drop and turn of the Intamin Mega-lites and Chance Hyper-lites. Getting an idea of where I'm going yet? Honestly, I see one spot on this ride that has what I feel would be a natural inversion, there are other spots where inversions could go, but I feel they would be forced into the layout. I mean, they can really only do one inversion, which is a barrel roll, and that gets kind of repetitive, especially with the compact layout on this ride. I don't really expect any overbanks. Those big swooping turns are kind of too drawn out IMO. I'm expecting this thing to stay low to the ground, have lots of airtime, and there will definitely be some "twisty" in this ride. Several transitions where you enter at 90 degrees, and being that this is Six Flags, there will most definitely be one or more inversions.

So SFNE online brought up the rumor about them removing the sky ride. It could make sense since the manufacture closed and the maintenance cost is too high. (ie. colossus, night wing, time warp, spider, twister, catapult). Also before flashback was moved to the park the entrance to the cyclone was over there (can still see the stairs from the station) so the line will probably be longer then the que can fit. so it would make sense to move the it down where the north end station is.

While this is easily the lamest Von Roll skyride in the history of ever, it always has a line, only requires one ride op on each side and it's one of the only rides left in the park that guests of all ages can enjoy. Since it's Six Flags New England I could totally see them removing it though (and of course leaving both stations there with nothing done to hide the fact that there used to be a ride there). I want to like this place as it's one of my home parks but this park really, really sucks and it seems like they continue to find new ways to suck every day.

If you want to cut costs (again), why not remove Mind Eraser? Unlike the skyway nobody likes it and I'm sure it costs a lot more money to maintain.

I'm sorry to sound so negative but I can't help it when I'm talking about Six Flags New England.

I have to agree, losing the Skyway is going to suck. SFNE and flats aren't exactly what your would call "BESTIES or SELFIES I understand Skyway is probably harder to maintain. Why? Von Roll is out of business. But losing 2 Riverside attractions in one year sucks.

I have to say that I was the biggest Cyclone Junkie EVER. Losing Cyclone is really heart-wrenching to me. Cyclone was very badass. It whipped you, hauled you, rattled you, and most of all, had INTENSE airtime. It's a shame the ride closed down and I hope that next years attraction (SC) will be great, even though I hate the idea and I don't love RMC.

You know, there is a rumor that they might remove Flashback and put in a Flash (I am referring to the superhero and if you don't know who he is I don't want to associate with you ) themed roller coaster from Premier Rides. It would be identical to Yamaha Racing Coaster and it would fit in the space Flashback occupies quite nicely. Also, they would kill two coasters with one stone, they would get rid of that wretched coaster they call "Flashback" and finally get a launching coaster. However, if that rumor turns out to be total bogus the they could always do a little refurbishment of the ride by adding new trains, making a fully electric lift system (similar to the one at Six Flags St.Louis) and add a new paint job.

^ I've heard that one too. It'd make sense, since they have two boomerangs. Even though now with the new trains Goliath probably isn't as good as flashback! Oh the irony...but anyways I think that'd really be good for the park. If they got that in. Addition to the iron cyclone it'd make the park have a really good big 3. Bizarro, iron cyclone, and flash. And even without a premier coaster, the park will lstill have a pretty good big 3 with batman as that 3rd spot. (And that's assuming that iron cyclone will be really good, which it probably will be!)

Just left the park after my first visit to this park. I have a Six Flags Gold season pass as SF Great America is my home park, and I loved getting free admission and free parking at a park across the country.

This park had a lot of firsts for me: first GIB, first SLC, first B&M floor-less, first Pandemonium clone, and first lap on Bizarro.

I got three laps on Bizarro and thought it was a great ride. Second favorite steel coaster behind Maverick at Cedar Point. I got two laps in the front row and one in the back row. I much preferred the front row. The first drop was better in the back, but the ejector air was significantly better in the front.

Goliath was pretty fun. It had a significant rattle, but I was pleased to get on a GIB for once.

Mind Eraser wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm pretty tall, so I can typically get my head in front of the restraints, which helped stave off much of the head banging.

I liked Dark Knight a bunch and it's a great fit for the park. It's not too big, but not too small. The zero g roll took me by surprise in a good way.

Pandemonium was fine, but I was happy about the single rider line. I was the only one in my group that wanted to ride Pandemonium and Flashback and was able to get on both with almost no wait thanks to the single rider line.

I didn't have a chance to get on NESS, but it looks great in the park. I like how it sits up on a hill and overlooks the park.

All in all, I liked the park. The tree cover is great and seemingly rare for a Six Flags property. I also liked the overall size of the park and it feels intimate without feeling too small.

I will say that I noticed more line jumping at this park, than any other park that I've visited. Not sure if I got unlucky and just witnessed it a bit, but in would have loved to see some sort of ride ticket to show your place in line.

Unfortunately this has been a problem for years. I remember one time I was waiting to get on Scream and two teenagers hopped the fence when it was loading. Two people had to wait an extra ride because of it. But I'm glad you had a great day overall.
