p. 337: Quantum Accelerator family coaster announced for 2025!

So apparently, there's not really hangtime on Harley Quinn Spinsanity, but you do get pushed against your restraint like on a holding break on a dive coaster. And I've been on Valravn and Griffon (the latter even in the front!) And it's not that high. I think I might do it.

I'm also scared to go on Scream, even though I did the Hershey's Tower at Hersheypark. And Scream is 16 feet taller than Hershey's Tower. I'd do the Combo Tower so that way I get launched up, then drop (like the Hershey's Tower), but TBH 200+ foot drop towers scare me, even though I've been on Superman: The Ride and Steel Force (the latter of which is the same height as Scream) and I305. It's different on coasters because I sit a few rows away from the front so I won't see how high I am.

I went yesterday and it started RAINING after like, 3:30 PM. So we had to leave early.

They changed the Block Party show this year (I only caught the end of it.) I think they're using a remix of We Like to Party in the show. I met Coyote, Foghorn, Bugs, Petunia, and Tweety.

I also dressed as Supergirl and folks noticed me (I even got to go thru the Flash Pass line for Superman: The Ride for free thanks to my outfit, because it was going to rain, and I wanted to get a reride before I left.) But they made me take the cape off on, ironically, Supergirl Sky Flyer.

WiCy felt like it was going to murder me with its airtime from both hell and heaven. Yes, I sat near the back. These folks behind me were screaming bloody murder too.

All in all, okay trip. Didn't meet Marvin or ride Harley Quinn Spinsanity/Scream. I doubt I ever will (and I want to ride Lex Luthor Drop of Doom dressed as Lois Lane because of the scene in Superman II where she's attached to the Eiffer Tower shaft...)

Got our first, brief visit to the park yesterday now that it's springtime again (it's been icy cold in the northeast). Overall, 4.5 hours in the park, three rides. Batman -- operations were horrible. At least five minutes between dispatches, two trains, waited 75 minutes in a half-full queue. Wicked Cyclone -- not as bad, still at least one ride op who staples with extra zeal, literally jumping and pushing down on the lap bar. Superman -- almost as bad as Batman. It seems like between every dispatch on those two coasters the main ride op had to sign paperwork and talk to a group of other employees. Literally between every dispatch. Training? I don't know, they've been open weekends for well over a month now. And the exit lane passes -- my lord, EVERYONE has these now. Only food we ate was the gyros and fries which are honestly delicious!

Quantum Accelator: two trains on the track (one in station, one on transfer). Still building in the station and looks like a shed for the transfer track. Didn't know this has two launches! Sorry, only got a couple pictures, was hurrying from one end of the park to the other. Is it just me or are the trains super ugly? Anyway, looks like it'll be a fairly wild ride even if it is a "family launch" coaster.

^^ This is, I think, the highest point on the ride. There's a gentleman in the station doing what looks like electrical work.

Zoomed in on the train in the station.

The trains are very brown. Transfer track is forward of the station, not behind it on the circuit. Can just barely make out the two parallel launch tracks, sorry I didn't get better picture.

Quantum Accelerator opening delayed.

This whole thing is weird as hell. The opening date was supposed to be tomorrow (June 20th) but has only really been reported by a few media outlets. Enthusiast circles have been extremely quiet about it and the park never officially announced an opening date on socials. Then they wait until filming day to delay the opening.

Not gonna lie, it's pretty ridiculous that a last minute and borderline-prototype coaster at Cedar Point that just finished construction last month is going to open before a pre-planned family launched coaster that finished construction in March. Oh and the 5x larger B&M dive coaster in Chicago that was announced at the same time as this coaster has been open for almost a month. What are we doing???

For what it's worth, all US Intamin straddle coasters are down right now. DarKoaster, Wave Breaker, and Arctic Rescue. Not sure if it's related.

I'll take all of that and raise you the carousel at Six Flags Saint Louis.

I guess I can give SFNE that...our carousel is always running 😆

In all seriousness SFNE has generally always been great about the park being as close to 100% open as possible on any given operating day. I hear horror stories from some other SF parks (and as someone who goes to Great Adventure almost as much as SFNE, I see this first hand!) so kudos are due to maintenance at SFNE who are typically on the ball with just about everything.

I have also seen the issues with the other straddle coasters being closed suddenly so I wouldn't doubt that the park had it ready to go and then something else came up. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and it won't be a long delay.

I've heard the restraints of all straddle coasters have been recalled and have to be replaced.

No way they wanted to delay it.  They were ready to go until Intamin shut them all down.  Sucks for the kids and family that were looking forward to this.
