Gutterflower Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Hey all did a quick search and couldn't find this on the forums. It appears Australia will be getting yet another new Intamin launched coaster. The ride appears to have been submitted to planning as a "Jet Ski Coaster" Ground clearing is already underway. so for those dirt enthusiasts heres some dirty porn. http://themeparkphotography.com/TPP_Js180608.html Theres also more on the rides location and sources on this page http://www.coasterforce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22681 Good to see the folks down under are getting another new ride.
thrillgeek Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Wow thanks for the info. This ride will sure be a unique and fun experience. Here's a pic I got from the site. A picture I found from the link. It looks to be a rather unique coaster
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 It looks more like a motocoaster than an aquatrax, and if it is a motocoaster, hopefully it turns out better than the one at Dream World.
Junkie~ Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Seems more like a vekoma to me. They have plans for the exact same train in the picture. http://www.vekoma.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=13 That also looks like the worst concept art I've seen!
Théo the little french Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I would bet this is gonna be a Vekoma MotorBike with the brand new trains that look like jet ski (I've seen it on the new Vekoma's web site)
Kalepi_Konei Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 It'd be cool if at any point during the ride it made a splash down and you went through the water at high speeds like on a real jet ski, that would be pretty wicked sweet.
DATman Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I believe Screamscape has been saying Intamin the whole time. They do have an aquatrax train that looks like a jet ski.
SharkTums Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 The LotteWorld Aquatrax looks and feels a decent amount like JetSki's also. So you can see that with just a little body work, this could easily be an Intamin AquaTrax!
mattnz Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Please God may it be an AquaTrax! I would even take a trip across the pond for it.
Gav Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 It has been pretty well established that it will be Intamin and not Vekoma. The latest photos I took are here http://www.parkz.com.au/photos/AU/Gold_Coast/Sea_World/433-Unknown-Jet-Ski-Coaster/ I'll probably aim to head down every 10 days or so (I have an annual pass) so I'll keep everyone posted. It certainly has caught my eye, the footers down make the layout look really bendy, and from the descriptions so far it could be well themed (going through caves and over water) So you can see that with just a little body work, this could easily be an Intamin AquaTrax! You're not wrong: Image on the Aquatrax PDF from the Intamin website.
Gutterflower Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 http://www.intaminworldwide.com/iag/docu/Aquatrax.pdf The PDF mentioned above has an interesting layout on it. nothing like AA but it could be along the lines of this new jetski ride
Théo the little french Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 In a hand I'm pretty happy/excited it's gonna be an Aquatrax because il love the concept, but in the other hand I don't really care actually lol (first Australia is too much far away from France and then Aquatrax's trains are really small I've been told so I couldn't ride it lol). I don't know why but I almost hear Elissa screaming madly behind her computer screen reading this news^^
Gav Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 See just on that, if a new coaster gets built, and it actually is an "AQUATRAX!!1!!111" does it mean that joke isn't funny anymore?
Gav Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 To let you guys know what Is happening with this, track has been delivered, including a piece of launch track that has brackets to attach friction wheels (So it will be the same type of launch used on Mick Doohans Motocoaster)
PKI Jizzman Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Moto Coaster's launch was pretty lame. Intamin really needs to stick to hydrolics. I can't wait to go back and get on Superman...and this new coaster! Maybe it's a section where it needs to be moved by wheels...it happens on a lot of coasters. And isn't there some sort of section you're moved through on AA? Can't wait to watch this all unfold. -JZ
Swimace Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 ^Motocoaster's launch is hydraulic, it's just done differently than the Intamin accelerator coasters. I don't think that Motocoaster has a weak launch because Intamin used a different launch system, I think that it has a weak launch because it's a family coaster and they didn't want it to be intense. The rumors have been pointing to this Aquatrax being more of a family type attraction, so it would make sense that Intamin give it a milder launch similar to Motocoaster.

True, but it's still a tire propelled launch. The tires powering the train through the launch are driven by hydraulic motors. While hydraulics are involved, this system is very different from the hydraulic system used on Intamin's Accelerator Coasters (AKA Rocket Coasters).
Hand 0f Time Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Why does that picture remind me of a bad photoshop attempt? Either way, it'd be pretty neat if they did add one.

I don't see where I was saying that it wasn't tire propelled, I was just responding to your previous post when you said "Moto Coaster's launch was pretty lame. Intamin really needs to stick to hydrolics.". I was simply pointing out that Motocoaster is indeed hydraulic, and I think that a tire propelled launch fits pretty comfortably under my assertion that the launch is "done differently" than the accelerators.
Gav Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Well, more track has been delivered, and I have to say this coaster looks tight...Literally. http://www.parkz.com.au/photos/AU/Gold_Coast/Sea_World/433-Unknown-Jet-Ski-Coaster/

This is exciting - but with track on site, you'd think an announcement would at least be imminent?!
downunder Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 They seem to announce things very late in Australia, in particular the Gold Coast. I'm not sure what the PR logic is for this or if if there is any logic at all being applied.
Gav Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Well see, they've announced on the website that they are building the movie world roof, and the new slides at wet n wild, but nothing on this, go figure. Personally, I think they should at least advertise the new ride on fences around the construction site, and at the same time advertise annual passes ("Upgrade today, and return in December to experience our latest ride!") Seems like a missed opportunity IMO.
Gav Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 It's gone vertical now, already it looks pretty interesting, with tight transitions, high banking, and sections that run very close to the ground....Oh and a couple of brake runs too. http://www.parkz.com.au/photos/construction/
Gav Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Is anyone interested in this? Anyway, the trains have been delivered..very Aquatrax-esque. http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coast/Sea_World/433-Jet_Ski_Rescue/2,2,2751-24_09_08.html http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coast/Sea_World/433-Jet_Ski_Rescue/2,4,2749-24_09_08.html The layout still looks a bit crazy. http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coast/Sea_World/433-Jet_Ski_Rescue/1,6,2754-24_09_08.html http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coast/Sea_World/433-Jet_Ski_Rescue/1,7,2753-24_09_08.html It will definitely have a second launch...beside the station.
