Hmm...

I'M a little discouraged about this "benefits list"!

Only 4 night rides... And their benifits are some discounts that you can find in their brochures...

What do you think about this list...??

I think any pass that gives you an option to get in the park earlier than normal park guests it's worth the money right there.

IMO, I would buy an upgraded pass if only gave you earliy entry OR free "fast pass" option.

Even if lets say you didn't ride anything during that early entry, just the ability to get in the park and be at the ride you do want to ride before the crowd gets there is a great offering.

I think one of the ERT sessions should be for resort guests only, probably the morning sessions. Cedar Point has some very expensive on-property rooms and they frankly don't give you a lot of perks for what they charge. They should give resorts guests truly exclusive ride time every day. Allowing anyone who spends $20 on the Joe Cool Club to join the ERT session all year long is lame.

^ They've been doing this for years, and really it makes little difference.

At least the times I've used the resort ERT it's been pretty good. A hanful of Joe Cool members can't make that much of a difference.

I've seen it pretty darn crowded for so-called ERT, but it was mostly congregated around Raptor since that's the first big ride by the main gate.

I agree with Robb... Just being able to get in early is nice, without having to stay at at CP hotel...

Still, the first time I stayed at a CP hotel and they let hotel guests in early, it turns out they were letting everyone in early, so no real benefit. And another time we went to Dragster in the am, and it had technical problems and didn't open til around 10:30.

Nevertheless, it's a nice perk, cause it won't always be like those examples. Add in the fact that parking is included with a platinum pass, and it pretty much pays for the upgrade.

Anyway, I like the perks... Some of the other ones that I'm not initially interested may be 'open doors' for instance I probably wouldn't see a show, but this might inspire me to.

Well, CP... now I have absolutely no reason to stay on property. Good idea taking away all the perks of staying on site. Econo-Lodge here I come.

YES! Iron Dragon with no waiting!! What a great perk! Pity that Mean Streak is not on the list for morning ERT. ( Sarcasm is not very effective in forums such as this)

So look for me going to Iron Dragon at 9am. I WILL be going to Iron Dragon and then right on by to MF.

I do agree with Robb, anytime you can avoid the running of the bulls is a great thing. I love riding Raptor in the morning while the crowds gather. Then go over to WT before the crowds get there. Same thing when I do Maverick/Skyhawk.

Yeah, I've seen it somewhat crowded some years, then empty others. It varies. Last year I got 5 or 6 straight rides on Raptor, with about 3 or 4 of those being in the front seat, while everyone else went to TTD, MF, and Skyhawk. As soon as I saw all the GP standing at the cut off point, though licking their chops, I got out of there and went back to Gemini to wait for it's opening. I just hope that most of the people will go to Maverick this year so I can get my mini-marathons on MF and Raptor.

I also have a question for anyone who may know. Why does Mean Streak open at 11:00 am? All the years I've been going to CP, I just found this out last year.

^A lot of the back part of the park opens at 11:00am to allow time for guests to trek into that section of the park. Only new rides really open at 10:00am in the back, excluding Mine Ride.

Based on the large queues Maverick had last year and the fact that some people still haven't been on it, I think that's a very likely scenario. Unfortunately for me, Maverick is all I want to ride at CP. To me, it's their only spectacular ride.

Yes, as long as it is a platinum pass, you get various "Points Perks" at the different CF parks. If you go to the CP website, there is a link which lists the perks at all of the CF parks.

^^Was not aimed directly at you. I was just trying to help anyone looking for the perks. I didn't notice that link the first time I looked either.

You do realize that not everybody who visits CP is a coaster enthusiast and wants to ride MF, Raptor and Maverick for an hour before the rest of the park opens, right? I can tell you that a good number of guests were upset at the JoeCool lineup last year (especially those families with little kids) when they got there early in the morning and didn't have anything to do for an hour.

Right now,we(my sister and I)are talking about going there this year. We are thinking about going sometime in July(Can't go in August cause that's when school starts again in PG County,MD). Planning on a Sunday-Wednesday(or Thursday)type plan.

I realize this thread has been about the 2008 Cedar Fair Platinum Pass.

Has anyone found the official 2009 Platinum Pass perks? I'm assuming they're similar but this is the first year I'm going to buy one so I'm just anxious to see the details. Anyone?
