Sunfire
Wow! This thing is really coming along fast! Before we know it, we'll be flying down those curves. It really is exciting to see CGA finally get a major addition. My question is: Where on earth will the fit the queue?
gisco
Gold Striker is come a long way from when I last saw it. Nice pictures.
IOE
Wow, great pictures. That really helps to see how far they are along! -Brian
Angry_Gumball
Yay, finally laying down some steel rails! This is looking more and more complete every time I see it! I won't expect much more progress this week however as we are finally getting a healthy treat of storms coming (which may also deny me getting my S:UF SFDK credit this weekend). I'm loving the views from the Star Tower, have not gotten those views in a while! Now I really cannot wait for March to get here, assuming we will see an opening day debut or close to it. Speaking of, don't they have to conduct a series of noise tests as well? If so, maybe that's why there's so much of a push...I believe Prowler began vertical construction and opened in May...Gold Striker went vertical in July so we will see. Hilltopper39
This picture makes the ride look much more compact than any of the concept art or animation video have, looks like it will be great!
JJnCFL
Yay for steel track! At this rate it should be done by the end of the year, and soon will be testing!
Angry_Gumball
Alright, I think it's time to share something with you all! With Global Winter Wonderland being inside the park and needing some form of map system, they pretty much 'borrowed' CGA's map and "Geauga Lake'd" the park as I like to say. I find it a bit amusing to see this modified CGA map as their Photoshopping of it came out pretty good as far as cleaning up the closed rides. Please do bear with me though (or more like my scanner). While the map physically fits in the scanner, there's about a 1/4" margin that it cuts off on one side. Here's the outside pages, looks pretty legit! The inside of the map, with recycled CGA information. And the grand finale, the "Geauga Lake'd" CGA!
154bmag
^Hmmmm, I think something may be missing from that map, but I can't put my finger on it...
jray21
If you hadn't told me where that was (or it wasn't in this forum) I would have had no clue where that was! Thanks for posting it.
Flagg O'Dim
A year ago I would have said this was Cedar Fair's dream plan for CGA. No coasters/only a few rides. "Yellow Zone," "Blue Zone," how original! Almost as bad as "Action Zone." Thanks for sharing!
XYZ
This picture makes the ride look much more compact than any of the concept art or animation video have, looks like it will be great! Whenever I see this photo, it looks very unreal and photoshopped. It's probably due to the shock that CGA is receiving a new coaster.
ArundelHigh Coasters
I love this park so much. I used to think it wasn't changing. I know realize the struggles Cedar Fair had to go through to change this park. Cedar Fair really does want to make this a great park. People always say Cedar Fair only wants big coasters for Cedar Point, but that is not true. Cedar Fair cares about all their parks, otherwise they wouldn't own them. Tmcdllr
This picture makes the ride look much more compact than any of the concept art or animation video have, looks like it will be great! Whenever I see this photo, it looks very unreal and photoshopped. It's probably due to the shock that CGA is receiving a new coaster. As amazing as it looks I agree with you, it does seem that way doesn't it? I think I'm just more in disbelief than anything after all this time and all the crap that was going on with the stadium, neighbors, CF, and it's been soooo long that to actually see this now almost done is surreal, but in a really good way. And the banking on some of these turns, especially the one to the far left is crazy good!
Angry_Gumball
Seeing it in person is even more so surreal...Especially walking from the back up toward Celebration Plaza, or heading from the Bumper Car area towards the same area and seeing the Midway Turn there in all of it's glory. Granted it was night time when I last saw it, it was still an amazing site to see! Also seeing the lift structure in person rising is very surreal! I've actually enjoyed following the construction and getting photos of its progress regularly. When I see that photo posted above I have to stop and do a double take, just to make sure I'm not looking at the rendering. Would not mind hopping on the Star Tower just to see a birds eye view of the site in person. I know they're still working on the lift (duh) but right now it looks very fragile! Probably due to the fact that it's quite naked without any of the track. If the weather is in our and the park's favor in the coming month, I can see the structure itself being completed by the new year, then there's the whole installing mechanical components and all, followed by tests. A year ago I would have said this was Cedar Fair's dream plan for CGA. No coasters/only a few rides. I'd like to call this map the "JMA Rendition of CGA" or "Kinzel's Dream." In the end, with JMA, I could see the park continue a few more seasons in its same state...no new rides, fading rides, etc.
Voxelmatic
Gold Striker looks a lot better than I thought it would! It defiantly seems like a mix of the good parts from new and old GCI rides. I need to get back to California!

rolercstrluvr
I don't think we had any tpr members out there at GWW this weekend. But one spot to check is the CGA Facebook page or GCI's page.
Angry_Gumball
With the rain and all I really doubt anything happened since we were out there last weekend and since CGA's posts on FB (which were shown here).
robman
Any pictures for this past weekend None this weekend, Global Winter Wonderland was also closed the whole weekend due to rain and potential flash flooding. Do expect more next weekend as I believe we are planning on being there Sunday.
Angry_Gumball
Yay, here's some more coaster porn brought to you by GCI, as of Saturday 12/1/12. Photos are on their Facebook page as well. Concrete coming real soon! Twisty!!!

rjvader
Glad to see the lift is starting to beef up a bit! The steel tracking is making me count down the days until March (yes, after seeing the Gold Striker progress reports the past couple weeks, I'm finally convinced it will be ready to ride on opening day).
