Flagg O'Dim
Have you guys been checking out the GCI Interns blog? They sometimes post some Gold Striker tidbits, like this quote, from their latest installment: Â Finally we have started receiving chassis for Gold Striker from our manufacturer. Once everything for IAAPA ships we will start preparing the chassis for final assembly since a majority of our components are complete. Angry_Gumball
Speaking of IAAPA, I'm looking forward to hearing more about Gold Striker from GCI. With that said, I'm crossing my fingers that one of the questions I brought up gets brought up there, will have to wait, hope, and see!
Kenta.Sasakado
Could we be expecting anything new for 2013 season for CGA from the IAAPA fair?
rolercstrluvr
Could we be expecting anything new for 2013 season for CGA from the IAAPA fair? Â I'd say Gold Striker is the only addition for the 2013 season, but I can possibly see some smaller additions for 2014.
11slataus
I don't know if this has been discussed before...but since Six Flag Kentucky Kingdom has been closed, why not see the return of Tidal wave/Greased Lightnin'? I'd honestly think that would be a fresh improvement to the park, the return of an original Marriott's ride. Â First off, I agree with you. It would be great to see the return of a classic ride. Plus, the ride's old spot is still there and that side of the park could use another coaster. Â But SFKK's Greezed Lightnin' isn't CGA's model, it's SFGAm.'s. The CGA model was removed to become parts for the Six Flags model after it was moved to Kentucky. It would still be a classic Marriott ride, though! Based on what I've heard, sitting idle for three seasons hasn't treated Greezed Lightnin' very well...still there's a hope there. Â In my opinion, CGA needs another coaster on the Flight Deck side of the park. So, if not a return of Tidal Wave, I'd support an impulse or half-pipe that would fit easily into it's old spot. The Invertigarden is the best spot for a Windseeker, if they were to get one. The old Triple Play spot would be great for a Unicoaster flat ride like Brainsurge at Mall of America. I'd like to see another of those. As for another coaster...I like what people have said about one going around/over the rapids. Maybe not so much over, but in that area would be cool. I would like a low-to-the-ground Intamin Blitz or maybe a San Diego Manta-esque Mack launcher. Â CGA has a lot of potential, just not that much space to work with. If they did ever remove a ride, I'd hope they'd relocate it. Vortex to Michigan's Adventure (along with Knott's Boomerang)!
Double0Kevin
^ That's not entirely true. The one at KK is the ride from both parks. The loop on the one at KK is CGA's where the rest of the ride is SFGAm's. And since they are identical models there really isn't any issue other than why would a park install an old ride that no one is making parts for that already operated at the park for 30 years and was not very popular at the end. Â Nostalgia is great, but the park would fair much better with a new ride that people in the area haven't already experienced

Angry_Gumball
Being observant about theme park stuff I noticed something awkward... What do you see in this image? Blue Fire Guy
^ Apparently, the Star Tower will be guarding the Gold Striker construction area just like it did during Haunt. Domm
Neverending Story style. Â Look forward to this, should be a good time cruising around the park for a few hours. Not a ton of rides, but the lights and shows should make up for the rest.

JJnCFL
GS UPDATE! Â Me, rolercstrluvr & RAWKIN_coaster38 headed out to CGA this past wednesday, Nov 14th, to catch the latest progress on GS. We were able to park by the offices and get a great view from the other side of the fence. Pics below, enjoy! More GS Booty shots... Along the fence, we spotted where they hid the booze for Club Blood! Pathways totally cleared leading to Pictorium, you can see a bent laying on the side of the Carousel Souvenir Shop. Land clearing around ST. Wood ready to be prepared The turn closest to Celebration Swings finally completed If you look closely, you can see new bents have finally gone up on the big giant slab in between Carousel Souvenir Shop & Pictorium Majority of the sections now connected together... And now closing with us watching youtube videos of Robb interviewing at IAAPA on a Tablet & LED TV, (cause that's how we roll) Great job Robb!! XYZ
It looks like it won't take much longer for the whole coaster to be finished. I always thought that CGA was targeting opening day 2013 for the opening of Gold Striker and it seems like they are on schedule for that.
JRHcoasterki
^^ Great pics! I'm watching the POV of GS on the CGA youtube channel and the comments are hilarious!  For example:  looks just like grizzly does that mean they taking that one off??  are they just re-naming the grizzly?  LOL! Blue Fire Guy
Thanks for the update! Is it me or is it that the midway turn looks lower than it was in the rendering? It's getting sexier every week, and GWW is coming soon...a word of advice: Should you venture to GWW, then bring tens of towels!

Mrlittle
This coaster is being overshadowed by the other woodies coming next year. However, after looking at these updates the coaster looks like it will be a winner.
australianalex
That turn looks incredibly close to being 90 degrees... This is going to be a fantastic coaster!
Angry_Gumball
^^For sure! While the others have their Zero-G rolls and stuff, Gold Striker remains 'tried and true.' Reminds me of the whole Buzz and Woody situation  ^I believe it hits 80-degrees on that "Midway Turn." http://www.cagreatamerica.com/goldstriker/the-ride/facts-and-figures  I could swear though that the Prudential turn banking looks 80 degrees too! JJnCFL
The lift has risen! At this rate, the remaining structures look to be done by the end of the year. 1 more week till GWW, can't wait!
