P. 418: Camp Snoopy expansion announced including new family coaster

Recommended Posts

I wonder what they will do with this one to make it different from intimidator. With Leviathan they kind of tried to include some lower speedy sections and less airtime hills to make it different from behemoth. In my opinion, it was a bit of a mistake as all the B&M hypers we've seen focus on floater air, lots of it. So I felt that by basically having only two airtime hills on leviathan they were "trying to deny" what that type of ride is. Not sure if anyone gets me but what I'm saying is that it feels kind of forced and would have been a better ride if they had incorporated more hills.

I think I've heard someone saying that the main reason CW got leviathan was because Behemoth had A LOT of attendance. Don't know if this is true but, if it is, wouldn't it be more logical to consider that an exception and, therefore, expect something different from carowinds' giga? I know all of them so far have had the same basic idea behind them but what about something like a looping giga? (that might just be me dreaming again)

Though never proven, wasn't the rumour that Leviathan was supposed to go to Knott's but then got sent to Wonderland. After a few minor modifications to get the coaster to fit the land at Wonderland we have what we have today? Again, I have no idea if this is true.

I think it's B&M. It totes fits the pattern.

CW:2008 Behemoth, 2012 Leviathon (did I spell that right? Doesn't look like it.)

KI: 2009 Diamond Back, 2014 Banshee (stupid Gatekeeper messin' up my patterns. You did that on purpose, didn't you?)

Carowinds: 2010 I232, 2015 Centurion (yup, I went there)

Kings Dominion: 2010 i305, 2015 Coaster

Forgot one!

I didn't, really. I was going off the other park's first B&M's and then their second ones. A fun fact (prepare to be exposed to way more CF nerdiness than I should admit): In the past ten years, B&M and CF have had a "three and one" relationship, where CF purchases a B&M three years in a row and takes a year off.

2004: Silver Bullet

2005: Hydra

2006: Patriot

2007: Nothing

2008: Behemoth

2009: Diamondback

2010: Intimidator232

2011: Nothing

2012: Leviathan

2013: Gatekeeper

2014: Banshee

2015: Nothing? Or Invert at KD and Giga at Carowinds.

Again, could be pure coincidence, I could have missed an obvious coaster in one of the two "off" years or maybe this is really a thing. Who knows. I have it in good faith that there will be a 2016 CF B&M. So we shall see. I know I'm contradicting myself with this but whatever.

Leviathan fits too perfectly in Wonderland to have underwent "minor modifications". And if it was completely redesigned, then Wonderland could have picked any model from B&M's catalogue. There is a lot of evidence that proves that rumor wrong.

From 2008-2011, all wonderland GP I talked to were obsessed with Behemoth, some claiming it was the worlds tallest roller coaster. Now all they talk about is both Behemoth and Leviathan, and how Leviathan is the worlds tallest roller coaster. Both have been huge successes at Wonderland, and depending on how well accepted by the GP Intimidator was, I would imagine a B&M giga would get the same response again.

Unlike Leviathan, I don't think this coaster will have a 100 foot break run because Leviathan's break run has to go over Dragon Fire, but this coaster has a pretty clear path.

[EDIT] Also CPSFMMCW, Giga pretty much fits in with the hyper coaster category. If you look through the gallery, you'll see pictures of Leviathan.

Interesting that they don't have giga listed. That's what I was gonna order...like 3 of them...

Even though I know this is a joke, I highly doubt anyone here has good enough credit for B&M to even consider a meeting.

B&M doesn't have a Giga Coaster, only Intamin does (remember that giga is an intamin term). B&M classifies coaster 300+ as hyper coasters.

  • 2 weeks later...

Operations on Intimidator were miserable today, 45 minute wait, line went back through the first switchback but that was it... Both trains were waiting in the break runs before the third was ready to leave the station... I've NEVER seen it so bad.

But I know why this happened today. Bad news fellas,

Ricochet looks GREAT (the cars could have used a touch-up, though), Hurler was closed, Afterburn looked good, and even though it looked like they were working on Thunder Road this year, they haven't finished the retracking. I don't think they did anything, to either side. Rode ok, not much worse than last year. Overall nothing too exciting, bummed Hurler was closed, next time.
