traincrossin Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hey Big Mike, did you know that your Blue Flash report was posted on Screamscape? http://screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#InternetFun I think that's totally awesome!
Big Mike Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 Mr. Bebe - You are smart to keep Ms. Bebe happy!  Craig - I knew that hiding spot was going to be trouble because the surface was rounded and I figured one side of it would rip off!   We never spoke on where the cards were hidden, but when it was brought up, some joker was staring in that direction   Peace, Big Mike
Big Mike Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 Hey Patrick!  No I did not know I got mentioned on ScreamScape!  Thanks for tipping me off good buddy  That is kind of cool!  Seems the Big Mike Road Show is starting to reach the masses outside of Theme Park Review lol.  As long as Theme Park Review got mentioned also and I brought some more traffic and possible people to sign up, I am happy!   Peace, Big Mike
TheRapidsNerd Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 The Ivers update has to be my all time favorite. That's just pure, 100% coaster enthusiasm all around. Most happy for you guys being able to check out those coasters.
robbalvey Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hey Patrick! No I did not know I got mentioned on ScreamScape!  Thanks for tipping me off good buddy  That is kind of cool! Your welcome!  --Robb "I send Lance all our best TR's!" Alvey
the ghost Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 ^ LOL, I was just looking at screamscape, and about half of the general news had to do with TPR. Â Robb, you are quite the businessman.
robbalvey Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 ^ It's not really that big of a deal. I mean, Screamscape pretty much is just a collection of links pertaining to theme park news and it's constantly updated. Â And this is nothing new, TPR has been sending our updates to Screamscape as long as both TPR and Screamscape have been around! Â --Robb
Mr.Wood Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I always love Big Mike up dates but this might be the best one.
Big Mike Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 Hello Fantastic Friends!! Â Â I am trying to close out the Las Vegas portion of The Big Mike Road Show 2009 before I leave for the Theme Park Review Scandinavia Trip on Friday! Â Â Having the computer crash has caused some problems with the last 2 Vegas reports as they were on the old computer! Â I have the problem fixed though, so here is The New York New York Hotel and The Manhatten Express! Â Â Also at the end of this report, ANOTHER sandwich dedication like the Big Mike sandwich dedication at Yankee Stadium!!! Â Â Hope you enjoy! Â Â Peace, Big Mike Big Mike and his very own Roller Coaster Hero Sandwich! Â Thanks Big Al! Â * A quick side note - A local restaurant here in Big Mike's home town is also going to name a sandwich after The Mighty Big Man next month!! Â The sandwich dedication will be covered for all Valuable Big Mike Readers to enjoy next month! Â The CRAZY rides at The Stratosphere are next!!! Â Hope you enjoyed! Â Â Peace, Big Mike "The Roller Coaster Hero"!!! Â I was very honored and extremely appreciative that Big Al memorialized Big Mike like that, and he said that I was indeed a true hero for bringing everyone roller coaster trip reports from around the world! Â I especially liked how MY sandwich was listed at the very top of the board!! (Not like my sandwich at Yankee Stadium) and that it was my favorite kind, turkey! So I make a little excursion to my good friend Big Al's place. Â A lot of people don't know, but when you put the word "BIG" in front of your name like Big Al and Big Mike does, you actually join a secret fraternity of fellow Biggers. Â I met Big Al this way and have known him for years, and he is always in awe of my roller coaster adventures and is always asking me to stop by his place the next time I am in town! Â Big Al said that he had named a sandwich after me and I could have one on the house! Just a few random street shots to end the report. Come on, how many of you can say you have seen this view of the ending to Manhatten Express?? Â Big Mike comes through again for the Park Index! Don't ask what I had to do to get these super shots, you don't want to know! Â Just enjoy them! There we go! Â Now THIS is an overview! Second overview. Â Now these are your usual overview shots that everyone shows you on reports, but being Valuable Big Mike Readers, you have come to expect more from The Mighty Big Man! Â Lets see what I can do to continue my high standards of best trip reports! Overview. Coaster facts. Prices. Photo for the Park Index. Manhatten Express!
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I never realized there was that much to the Manhattan Express.
The Disneylander Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 ^ It's not something you realize until you actually go on it and pray for it to be over.
bpmitchell Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Great Photo TR of Iver's coasters Big Mike, you are a role model to me in the TR reports that you do. As for Manhattan Express, its a great ride if you want to take a break from gambling in which I did while in Vegas.
Coastinmiller Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Well Big Mike, now you have someone else to meet. Lil baby Klaire Elly Miller was born yesterday at 9:25 am. A photo report will be coming when we get home along with pics. Baby and mom are doing really well.
Big Mike Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 Congrats Mike!!!    Now I know why you did not come on the trip with us! Good for you dude!  A future shuffleboard champion in the making   Looking forward to pictures!   Peace, Big Mike
Erik Johnson Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Wow, its now $14 to ride the worst roller coaster in the country. Awesome pictures Mike!
tigerxeyez Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 ^worst in the country? I think Cyclone at Coney Island is MUCH worse! Â Although, I do agree that $14 is outrageous!
ebl Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I rode Manhattan Express for "just" $7 back in 1999. Once. That's all. That's enough. Â On a side note, Mike, are you going to be able to attend TPR Termination Day on June 28? Â Eric
traincrossin Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 See, whenever I think of Manhattan Express, I always remember Robb's video of it. You payed $14 to get the crap beaten out of you? Â [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=manhattanexpress_7sl8[/coastertube]
moinab Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 That sandwich sounds good! Â (Of course, anything sounds good, right now, because I haven't been able to eat all weekend, due to unrelenting tooth pain that feels like my face is in labor. Why do these things always happen on the weekend? )
The Bebes Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 As much as Manhattan Express sucks (And boy does it!), I like the 180 degree barrell roll into a dive. I'd like to see that element arrangement on more (better) coasters. I think I rode ONE other coaster that had that same element, but can't recall what it was.
Big Mike Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Hello Fantastic Friends!!!!   That video was funny lol.   I am a no go for Termination Day, I am on the wrong coast   This next report is the Crazy A$$ rides on top of The Stratosphere in Las Vegas!  This was my last stop on my visit to Las Vegas as I wanted to save the best for last.  I must admit that I am pretty fearless on going on any kind of coaster, as I usually just walk right on without any hesitation.  I have been on top of The Stratosphere once before, riding the Big Shot and also getting the defunct High Roller coaster credit back in the day.  These two new rides are pretty messed up, and my palms were actually sweating before I rode them, so you KNOW they must be wacked!   Before we get to the report, Big Breaking News to tell everyone!  As everyone knows, Big Mike has the hots for Angel Aristone from Great Adventure and I am now proud to report that.....  Angel Aristone is now a Valuable Big Mike Reader!!!  I am not sure if she signed up for a TPR account, but here is a Facebook message she sent me   "lol, I love Lucky dog!!! The photo of all the treats is hysterical. Loved the review and you are correct, Angel does read these!! lol  Thanks for coming out...glad you had a good time and enjoyed the ride.  I really thought you were super hot too Big Mike!  Angel"   YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  OK, I made up that last line, but it is still exciting news!  If anyone wants to put in early reservations to be included in our wedding together, just say so!   One last thing before we get to the report:  Our great buddy Brian (STR8FXXXINEDGE), a HUGE Big Mike Road Show supporter and extremely Valuable Big Mike Reader needs a favor from the TPR Family!  It is another contest like the ones we helped a girl win a trip to Disneyland in her costume contest and like the one we helped the little girl win a postcard contest for her class!  Lets make it 3 for 3 for Brain!  It's free and only takes a few minutes! Come back and click on his link after you finish reading my report! I will remind you at the end  http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50764   Hope you enjoy!   Peace, Big Mike "Big Mike! We did it! Wait for us!"  I waited and they were true to thier word!!  I knew that I was in store for a great time and some fun rides when I came to the Stratosphere, but the real extreme fun happened when those rides were over!!  Hope you enjoyed!  Peace, Big Mike  PS - Now go back and help Brian my friends!! The hot babes went over the edge! These were some wild girls, in more ways than one The hot babes were next and Big Mike got better pictures of them than they did of me! I am THIS close to a date in the hotel room now! You can see Big Mike's arm while his hands are up in the front row! This was exhilirating!! The moment of truth! Big Mike goes first while the hot babes take pictures. View from the front seat. ... to right over the edge of the building! You are actually looking right at the ground with no track in front of you. Once the car is loaded, it is on the bottom of this track. The ride then tilts the track and you car goes from the platform on the roof.... This is the car used for the ride and how it is loaded. TPR Park Index loving again. The ride standing between Big Mike and fun with the hot babes, X-Scream! I beat you Insanity! The hot babes beat you too and we are 2/3rds of the way to having a little fun in thier hotel room!!! My hot babes are now victorious and actually riding with thier hands up. Here is the ride fully extended and going quite fast in circles. Here is what you see when you are on the ride. There are my hot babes as the ride finally extends far enough that you are actually tilted towards the ground. If that is not scary enough, the ride then starts to spin and extend. The ride then moves you out off the roof and you have nothing underneath you but the street below. This is a swing type ride that starts out on the roof on The Stratosphere, but does not stay there for long. TPR Park Index loving. Next up, Insanity! The generous hot babes that made me that great offer! I explained to the hot babes that this is where the High Roller coaster used to be and it was now the spot that we all put our hands in together and confirmed our deal. This is one of those rides that shoot you up. I liked it. I met a pair of hot babes on line for this and I asked for a kiss from them just in case we did not survive it. They countered with "we are staying right here at the Stratosphere, if we survive all 3 rides, we will take you back to our room!" My jaw dropped. Some people are afraid to do these rides when they are on the ground, try starting 1149 feet up already! Since I had done this ride once before already, I figured it would be a good warm up. You thought Kingda Ka was tall?  Anyone afraid of heights? The VIP elevator travels 3 floors every second!  It still takes a while since this is the tallest building west of the Mississippi! Big Mike is escorted to the VIP elevator! Big Mike goes for the whole package, all 3 rides! The height chart. (A little different than the usual height chart that I show you!) The prices. Here are the 3 rides that are currently on top of The Stratosphere! There is always X-Scream also, which sends you over the side of the building! How about taking a ride on the Big Shot, perched high on top of The Stratosphere? The Stratosphere! Home to 3 really extreme rides!
VegasCoaster Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 So much for what happens in Vegas staying in Vegas. Â Sounds like a great time at the Strat. I don't actually find X-Scream to be that thrilling despite its precarious location, but the the Big Shot and Insanity are great. I'm surprised they let your hot friends ride with sandals on, last time they practically did a cavity search to make sure nothing would fly off the ride.
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Those definitely were some hot babes, and my hands were sweating just looking at the photos of the rides, haha. You're a lucky man! Looks like you had a blast! Â P.S. Thanks a TON for supporting my contest! You never cease to amaze!
moinab Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Why, yes, I am afraid of heights, and those pictures make me want to hurl! Â Â Still enjoyed the update, though![/i]
