XII Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 NO!!! I amost want to send hatemail to Cedar Fair over the Flight Deck names now. Stupid Cedar Fair.
Chadley Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Here I am for years now complaining about the limited theming they have on Top Gun @ KI since they tore out the "Aircraft Carrier" section below the staion years back. So here's what I get for complaining...Flight Deck!
sam06pr Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Wow, that's bad. But at least CF didn't name it Flight Hawk. Â I think Flight Hawk is better than Fligth Deck...but both are horrible names. Even Fighter Jet would of been a better name if they could not think of anything. Or why not look at the other inverts they have and just re name and re theme it after them (Raptor, Patriot, Silver Bullet)
Bubba83 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Â Everyone knows the next big attraction coming to Great America is the 49ers in 2012.
downunder Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Maybe there is some aircraft carrier jet names they could have used: Tomcat, Phantom (the old A4's used to be on carriers), Skyhawk has been done, Marauder, Falcon, Eagle, Hornet, Blackbird, Tornado, Apache etc.
knottslover77 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 ^I agree, their are hundreds of names better that Flight Deck. Â --Jay
Goliath513 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Â Everyone knows the next big attraction coming to Great America is the 49ers in 2012. Â There's a woodie coming in 2009. But I sure hope the 49ers don't come to GA.
Sunfire Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 ^I can't wait for the woodie, but why couldn't Cedar Fair think of something other than Flight Deck? I could think of a lot of names on the spot that are better than Flight Deck. I have officially lost all respect for Cedar Fair.
browntggrr Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Why does the the name of any ride at any park make a difference? Â This is not that big of a deal, nor is it a surprise. Corporations that have numerous parks have been using the same name for rides at different parks for a while now.
Sean Menefee Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Why does the the name of any ride at any park make a difference? This is not that big of a deal, nor is it a surprise. Corporations that have numerous parks have been using the same name for rides at different parks for a while now.  This is pretty much where I'm at with my thoughts on the subject. I gotta admit it has been fun sitting back and watching some of you guys spazz out over the name changes though. This thread gave me a little bit of enjoyment from a super busy day of pre-press work from hell.  -Sean
Tmcdllr Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Well we have to spaz out about something. Not impressed with the name. If this is the shining example of their creative genious then they should just give up on thinking up coaster names and call them all "roller-coaster." Never the less, I cant wait to ride it again, whatever it is called.
Sean Menefee Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I would agree that CF's marketing staff should be lightly kicked in the nuts for this one, but I'm also not understanding the whole "get a life thing." I'll still be riding Flight Deck next season anyhow, so I'm not to worried about the name change. Your millage may vary. Â Sean "Yes... we all have to have something to spazz out about, it is the off-season after all" Menefee
The Patchman Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I am going to deck the person who came up with Flight Deck.
Moose Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I still like this name waaaay better than Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster.
Team Thriller Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I just hope that those CF guys start to notice that there names are as corny has hell. Richard Kinzel, what are you doing? Â --James
hemmy Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 *Insert mindless Cedar Fair bashing* Â Ok I am now part of the club
raptor6 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 What's up Cedar Fair? You used to be cool... Â (says the guy with the raptor avatar...hey it's a great ride)
larrygator Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I still like this name waaaay better than Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster.  Yet if they changed those names to Thunderhawk and Flight Deck people with nothing better to do would complain even more.  There have been: 49 coasters names Figure 8  42 named Cyclone  22 named Big Dipper  Names will always be repeated. Although we still need a coaster named "Sasquatch".
printersdevil78 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 It doesn't get more creative than Flight Deck. IOA and Disney should start taking some tips from Cedar Fair. Â I agree! Then we could have: Â Singing Dolls Singing Bears Singing Birds Runaway Mine Train Yeti Encounter Hotel Drop Dead Presidents Live! Haunted Mansion (oh, wait...) Â And my personal favorite: Â Ellen DeGeneres Presents Five Minutes of Incredible Audio-Animatronic Dinosaurs and Forty Minutes of Dialog-Heavy Movies That No One Really Cares About
sfmmrules! Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Flight Deck WTF? Its not a good name. I think CF should have just dropped Top Gun & called it Jet Coaster. It sounds better. What about Vortex? & Survivor & Drop Zone? They could call Drop Zone just Stunt Tower. Those were Paramount names. CF I hope your reading these posts! Take note!!!
raptor2011 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 It is starting to get really annoying with these names. Cedar fair has some good names like renegade and maverick but flight deck is just bad. They should have listened to some comments on the name and possibly change it to something enthusiasts and people going to the park would like. If they wanted a military theme because of the top gun theming something like air force, mach 1, or if that didn't work just put an adjective and hawk together and you have a name, but they already got nighthawk.
Alpenguy Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 As a former Top Gun operator, I'd like to say... Â This is absolutely the lamest change yet. Everyone will still call it Top Gun though because it's a badass name and has been there for 15 years.
Reon Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Honestly, I think that "flight deck" is the worse name in the world. CF may have made some fouls before, but those were tollerable. Heck, I think Firehawk is a sweet name, and Nighthawk reminds me of some superhero or something. But Flight Deck? Honestly, I think I'd rather it become Jet Coaster or something like that...
kraken613 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Well atleast we can all agree that the name SUCKS!
