robbalvey Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Hey everyone! As I know many of you have anxiously been awaiting this.... The TPR Video Contest is BACK! Please have a look at the rules and information here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/videocontest/ If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Remember, all videos must be uploaded or postmarked by Feb 2nd, 2008. Good luck to everyone! --Robb
Tanks4me05 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Can I mail you the video (s) as a DVD? Either a DVD+R or a DVD+RW.
robbalvey Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 ^ The answer to that is in the rules page. Did you read it?
Tanks4me05 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 ^ Yeah, I read it. I just didn't see it the first time. We really need a "d'oh!" Taiko emoticon.
SharkTums Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I have read the rules, but I have a question about the on ride video. What if the park has given you permission to use some footage from their pov? As stated in the rules, Park B-Roll is not accepted!
jarmor Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Good luck to everyone entering this! Taking this year off over here so i'm anxious to see what the entries bring to the table!
darklingscribe Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Does it have to have any video in it? I have a photo montage video I made of a park trip, Kind of a spoof of the pbs documentary format. Also does it strictly have to be a park video? I have a whole bunch of footage of the county fair I was thinking about editing together.
SharkTums Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 ^Both of those would be acceptable entries!
BarryH Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Yeah! I can finally turn in my video of me dancing in a Speedo!
TheStig Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Sweet, this year I'm totally shooting for 18th place! Now I just have to re-install Pinnacle, ugh!
BarryH Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Colin and I will be bringing up the rear again this year. Maybe I need to turn in a Disney video so I can get the people on all the Disney boards I post at to vote for me. I gotta win one of these contests sometime!
jedimaster1227 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I have my video compilation from last year ready to send in (once I get back to Orlando) and I am currently editing this year's video as well. I have been looking forward to this for quite some time!
Bruno Lancetti Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Hey my great friends!!! Ladies and Gentlements, please, start your engines!!! Put your hands on and... try to drive with your legs...!!! Ahahah...!!! Anyway, I will be part of the competitors as soon as my laptop comes to life again (I'm burning a DVD but it seems the DVD has burned... or crashed my pc!!! Have you ever seen a laptop that makes also fireworks??? Cooooool!!!). So, my rough video is almost ready. Talk to you soon again. Have a great and fabulous 2008 my dude thrillseekers!!!
coasterrider1998 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I have mine done. Finished it last night yeah up till 3. It was probably the excitement but I will enter it soon. /Cr98\
BarryH Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Doh! I was in too much of a hurry on Monday to send my videos in and I sent in the wrong tape! I'm sending the correct tape tomorrow. Doh! Sorry!
jedimaster1227 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 After 5.5 hours of monitoring my first large FTP transfer, the upload seems to be done. Robb, if possible, could you please tell me if ARThemeparkentry2006.avi is showing in your ftp folder? Since Michael had a file for his entries, I figured I should do the same, so mine is located in the Adam Roth folder.
Edward Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Hi! Just a small question about point one of the rules. The entire video must be filmed and edited by me. Would it be acceptable with a few clips that were filmed by my sister, but with me being the star of the clip? /Edward PS. Format being AVI, yes, but what Sub-format? I like 3ivX because of the high-quality settings, but if you want DivX or DV NTSC I could do that as well. And I'm afraid that the image format will be 4:3 (640x480) (though I think the DV codec is limited to the 720x480 scale).
SharkTums Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Having a few clips of yourself that someone else shot is totally fine! I'll let Robb answer all the technical stuff!
Angry_Gumball Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I think I'll give it a go. Now, does it have to be recent footage, or can I use stuff I recorded between the past 2 years or so?
Carnage Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Sweet, this year I'm totally shooting for 18th place! Now I just have to re-install Pinnacle, ugh! Well I doubt I'll be submitting a video this year, and I was 18th last time. So you might just get 18th by default.
24 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 My entry is done. It's AVI but on a DVD it keeps on becoming something else
robbalvey Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 My entry is done. It's AVI but on a DVD it keeps on becoming something else Is it becoming a .vob file in a Video_TS folder? That's because you're burning it as a DVD-Video. You just need to burn a Data DVD and copy the .avi into a folder.
robbalvey Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 I think I'll give it a go. Now, does it have to be recent footage, or can I use stuff I recorded between the past 2 years or so? It could be from any time.
mcjaco Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I should have mine out the door next week as well. My first video contest. Yay, me. I hope to come in dead last.
