adamico2 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 It's so sad to think that Kodak's basically dead.
jzoole Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 ^That makes me really sad too Does anyone know if that Intamin Dolphin Tower thing ever got built anywhere? It looks kind of Googie! I love it. Also, am I confused or was that a small portable version of the Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop? Was THAT ever in existence??
Geauga Dog Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 When did Intamin start representing Schwarzkopf or were they always the ride broker for him?
montezooma Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Hey TPRer’s. I am adding Shane’s Amusement Attic to Facebook so check it out and like it. Don’t worry, TPR will still be the official home of Shane’s Amusement Attic! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shanes-Amusement-Attic/412595505472065
DenDen Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 This last update just made my head explode over the sheer epic spectacle that is THE ATTIC! You totally could open an world museum with all this stuff!
thrillerman1 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I've always wanted to ride the Huss Tri-Star. It just looks so cool! I believe there was some New England park that had one at one time and was demolished not too long ago IIRC. I had that same Intamin catalog and am still kicking myself for letting it disappear. Yes, everyone go like Shane's AA Facebook page. He's already posted some amazing stuff there!
beatle11 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 That guide is older than I am! Very cool to see that!
DenDen Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I've always wanted to ride the Huss Tri-Star. Looks more fun than it actually is. It really is a "family" ride, like Troika, not much force or speed to it...
montezooma Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 They had one a Lagoon for a couple of seasons. Not sure why they took it out. Yeah it was much more impressive to watch than to ride. About the same as a slow scrambler that tilts up about 45 degrees.
adamico2 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Congrats on the plans for a second waterpark!
thrillerman1 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 That's a little disappointing to hear about the Huss Tri-Star. I had envisioned it as 3 mini Enterprise wheels rotating around the tower with each wheel fully inverting the riders. Someone please build an Enterprise version!
eddie200330 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 They had one a Lagoon for a couple of seasons. Not sure why they took it out. Yeah it was much more impressive to watch than to ride. About the same as a slow scrambler that tilts up about 45 degrees. Idlewild had one for a few seasons also. I thought it was actually pretty fun. A little more thrilling than a Condor but not quite as good as an Enterprise. I did some searching but really can't seem to find where it wound up.
thrillerman1 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 ^ That's the one I was trying to think of at Idlewild. I can't remember what happened to it either.
simon8899 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Cool to see the scans from the Heinz Fähtz brochure. There're still some Fähtz music-express around here on the carnival circuit. The Fähtz Round-Up was IMO the most forceful - there's still one at Heide-Park, now in the former HUSS-Land - it's there since the opening in 1978 so I guess they produced some quality rides...
Rai Fox Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I've always wanted to ride the Huss Tri-Star. New England? Riverside Park in Agawam, MA, had one until the park became Six Flags New England and SF started gutting their flats. No idea where it went; sadly, mostly like just a scrapyard somewhere. I remember the ride being quite fun, myself.
CorkscrewFoley Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 How does one acquire the brochures? I've contacted B&M, Intamin, etc for brochures, but no dice. Shane, thanks for posting and congrats on the second location...
netdvn Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Most of those manufacturers brochures can be found at trade shows like IAAPA. I don't think you can directly contact those companies for a brochure catalog unless you're associated with a park.
ValleyfairFan Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 You can contact them without working for a park. They might just not jump through a lot of hoops to send you stuff unless you're actually interested in purchasing their wares.
DenDen Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 ^ That's the one I was trying to think of at Idlewild. I can't remember what happened to it either. If I'm not correct, I'm sure someone will yell at me Tri-star from Lagoon was sold to Kennywood, lasted one season, (where I rode it,) then moved to Idlewild as "tri-nado" a few seasons later, then removed and donated to the park in Mexico called La Feria Chapultepec Magico. Can anyone confirm?
ThatFalafelGirl Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 That was amazing! Thanks for doing all that work, Shane! It's gotta be tedious but I really appreciate it!
ernierocker Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Pretty cool seeing the Intamin catalog from back in the 70's and how different their role was in the amusement park industry. They still played an intrical part of the business but it was in a much different way! Awesome as always, Shane!
dsjim11 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Thanks a bunch for the post! I love looking back at the oldies stuff.
Lilly Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 When did Intamin start representing Schwarzkopf or were they always the ride broker for him? Found this in Shane's Amusement Attic on Facebook "Schwarzkopf early ride cataloge". *** I love the old HUSS rides, thanks for sharing this IAAPA guide!
rollin_n_coastin Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Shane, this is awesome. '79 was a fantastic year from my understanding It's cool that a lot of those Huss rides are stil around here between CP, CW and Darien.
Garet Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Isn't there a huss tri-star at pleasurewood hills now? Pleasurewood hills tri-star
