It looks like they are going to keep the large backdrop behind the loop... I thought that was supposed to go, too.

The sign looks great! It's nice to see that things are starting to get done.

^In concept art the large circle looks like a sun burst. So, I imagine it will be painted if they go forward with that idea.

LOL! It makes it look like they've re-named either the park or the roller coaster to "Paradise Pier" to anyone looking at it from the outside.

I can see it now. People will be all "Let's go ride Paradise Pier!"

Either that or "I guess Paradise Pier bought out Disney cause the Mickey ears are gone!"

I'm almost glad the mickey ears are gone since there's another mickey face going on the ferris wheel right accross the park. Just thought that'd look odd

^^^I hope they either get rid of the Mickey head behind the loop or redecorate it. I was also under the impression that it was going to go. It just doesn't look right to me. Either way, the new Paradise Pier sign looks beautiful and I am sure it will look even better lit up at night. I'll be there on Sunday and I can't wait to see it in person!

I heard talk that the sunburst logo might have some really awesome lighting effects and tie in the versa tubes, most commonly seen at concerts, anyone have any confirmation on this? If it's true, then I totally underestimated the new logo....overall PP is looking great, and I really can't wait to see all of it when it's done.

I went there yesterday, I didnt get a lot of pictures, there wasnt anything too new anyway, but here's what I took:

Woo mickey's fun wheel, it's looking so nice and scaffoldingy!

Mah baby! Fly my pretty fly!

See ya!

Presenting: Disney's World of Construction!

Look at all the new hotness in this picture

Back to construction! Whatever those are I like them! Only one more year till they unleash this bad@$$ show!

This is most definitely signage porn!

Guess what! It lights up too!

Cali Screamin signature shot ruined by a crappy camera

One last picture from across the "lagoon" (if you can even call it that right now)

Get em while they're hot! The exclusive 09 maps, this calls for a celebration...possibly today.

the gondolas are slowly coming back onto the Fun Wheel. It seems like these two are orange and purple.....

The fun wheel is expected to reopen April 24th, as well as the Games of the Boardwalk. Expect some updated pictures soon.....

Apparently they've chucked the World of Color plans out the window and decided to build a skyscraper. Someone high up really wants to expand the San Francisco area.

But seriously...its like 400 ft tall.

LOLOLOL!!!!

I'm just WAITING for Robb to see those pictures!!!

Seriously, am I missing something, or why do they need a crane that big!?!?

OMG, I just can't believe Disney is doing this.

Ya, it's quite noticeable.

I'd even consider it "huge" when it's in its condensed state...as seen in this image from Darkbeer posted in one of his MiceAge updates:

That park is just so horrible right now. I couldn't believe the state it was in when we were there last week. Just trying to get to the damn warf to eat lunch was a pain in the ass with all the bridges closed.

Not so bad if you're towards the front of the park, but it was annoying going from Paradise Pier to the Mexican place.

I just hope they fix it all up soon.

Gee, thats really a big crane. Are they taking apart the Maliboomer? Why would they need a crane that big? Unless its closer to the Hotel than it looks.

We were there for our second-ever visit in November, I'm glad we got there when we did!

It can't be easy navigating around that park, at least they are getting a lot done before the busy season (or is California "always" in the busy season?)

The crane's location is shown in the picture I posted a couple posts above.

The crane is sitting right on the "waters edge", lol. And its not for Maliboomer, its for World of Color Construction, however, I have no clue what the heck they need that big of a crane for, lol.
