Outside of theme parks, I'm not a big fan of 3D either, and I can't think of a movie I've seen where it's actually made the film "better". It's a gimmick, and is fine for something like Transformers or Muppet-Vision, but anything longer than 20 minutes and I'd prefer a 2D version.

we saw the 2nd Hobbit in 2D, and didn't care for it.

got dragged to a 3D IMAX screening by my Partner, who hadn't seen it (tho i warned him it wasn't great), and we both LOVED it.

the 3D actually drastically improved this film -- in 2D all the Laketown scenes look like they were shot on a soundstage (I commented that it looked like they filmed inside a ride at Disneyland!) and that took me out of the film completely several times.

But the 3D made all the difference in the world, and Laketown LOOKED like a real, existing location.

Oh, the film still has problems (that river escape still goes on way too long). . but much improved by seeing in 3D

Agreed tho, usually, 2D vs 3D makes no difference.

I've seen some movies in 3D (Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Pacific Rim, and Gravity) and the only movie that really felt enhanced with the 3D was Gravity, but 3D viewing isn't essential.

So how many of our TPR people are going to go see Sing Along Frozen? I'm pretty sure we've got a big group here in Orlando waiting for it!

I finally saw Frozen today and I really enjoyed it. The animation was really good (and I saw it in 2D because no theatre by me was still showing it in 3D) as well as the story. Being that Frozen is Disney's biggest animated success in several years, I could foresee a Frozen attraction at a Disney park in the future, perhaps at the Fantasyland section of the Disneyland/Magic Kingdoms. I didn't realize that Frozen came out at Thanksgiving, and it's still going strong.

I saw it in 2D also even though we had the choice to see it in 3D. I personally just never "got" the whole 3D thing and it sort of hurts my eyes after a while. I thought the movie loved AMAZING in 2D and I just honestly don't even see the need for 3D, but that's just me...

While I do like 3D, especially for movies filmed in 3D like Gravity, I felt Frozen was great in 2D and that I wasn't missing out on the 3D. The only part of the showing I felt was designed specifically for 3D was that Mickey Mouse short they showed before the start of Frozen.

Just finished watching Atlantic Rim; I don't think I've had this much fun watching a god-awful movie in a long time. Typically, I'm more of a fan of movies that are aware of how ridiculous/dumb they are and choose to have fun with it, but everyone in Atlantic Rim just seems so clueless that they don't even have to try to be funny. All the characters are idiots, the script is incredibly inconsistent, the fight scenes are hardly exhilarating, and the editing is some of the worst I've seen, even by the Asylum's standards; not to mention the climax that is sure to get people thinking, "didn't I see that done in the Avengers?" I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a stupid movie to laugh at. However, I must warn that you will find yourself rooting for the monsters, and they lose

I think 3D is a waste of time and money. I can't recall a single movie that was actually "enhanced" by 3D.

And I think the "sing along" thing is way over rated.

And it all started with "The Sound Music" , darnit.

I think it has to be more spontaneous, than 'controlled'

with lyrics up on the screen, etc.

Like "Rocky Horror" always used to be, and still is.

Just watched the trailer for this movie LOL! Transmorphers anyone?

Here is the new Maleficent trailer. I really wasn't on board till I saw this, it looks delightfully creepy, especially for a Disney film! Angelina looks stunning and evil, she really does fit the character.

God I hope they don't mess this up like they did Alice and wonderland, it was a feast for the eyes with a lackluster script. The writer of that co-wrote this. I'm trying not to get my hopes up for this though.

^ Just love all the trailers for this, and I do hope it lives up to them.

And her humming the "Sleeping Beauty Waltz" too.... exquisite.

"You know the tale. Now find out the truth"?

Er, it's a fairytale. Wouldn't the "truth" be the Brothers Grimm sitting at a desk writing it?

I personally hate sing alongs. If I want to see bad singing I'll go watch ( and possibly participate) in drunk karaoke at a bar.

Maleficent is my favorite Disney Villian and character. Actually because of this trailer I have Sleeping Beauty on right now. I still have doubts on the actual film, but both trailers have been well executed and certainly have peaked all interest and given me a bit of hope the film might not outright suck. PS - I have been humming Once upon a dream all day thanks to Lana Del Rays great take on the song.

Be careful, you might be giving them an idea! Saving Mrs. Maleficant.

I don't watch many movies, but we did finally watch The Croods last night. I have heard mixed reviews since its release but I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I think it had a decent storyline and made me laugh quite a few times.

Just watched I, Frankenstein. I like almost all movies, so I'm not the best to review movies, but I think most people wouldn't even pick this up in the $3 Walmart bargain bin. Just not a great storyline.

Just from the trailer. . .

It LOOKED like all the CGI from the "Underworld" films crammed into one movie, along with the plot of "Legion" and the set design of the "Gargoyles" TV cartoon.

we passed.

^^ I thought it just looked silly. They are just looking for ways to push CGI movies down our throat in my opinion.

I really want to see Labor Day. I LOVE Kate Winslet. However, why is it not coming out Labor Day weekend?

It LOOKED really really really really really bad.

Yep, you summed it up right there, although, Chuck's description isn't too far off either.
