Electerik Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 ^Intamin can make-sized ride. They can also make verticle drops. I wonder if they'd make a verticle drop coaster?...... I'm sure they would. That's the beauty of Intamin.... Random Amusement Park: "We need a roller coaster that's 700 feet high and made of chocolate." Intamin: "Sure, no problem. What kind of chocolate?"
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Hmmm.. maybe the lift and drop will be on the side of the park where the water slides are and then some turns and hills will be over CRR's, maybe even have some interactive water parts there too.
Ccron10 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Maybe they can make the DM do loops, zero-g-rolls, and cobra rolls. That'd be really cool. Here's an idea, a stand-up floorless dive machine! lol

If they do build a DM, it better not be like Oblivion, Griffon, or SheiKra, it should have some length to it.
Airtime&Gravity Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 ^Sorry, but I doubt you'll see a mile long dive machine for some time. They just are not the design you build long coasters with, and Sheikra/Griffin are long enough. I'm just expecting a small to medium size coaster that the entire family can ride. One of those crazy bobsled coasters or a euro-fighter would be great in my opinion.

That's both a positive and a negative. Sure, they can build anything, but they can't make them work.
Electerik Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Sure, they can build anything, but they can't make them work. Yeah, that was kind of my point. The story goes that CP approached 3 different companies for what eventually became MF. B&M turned down the project outright, and Morgan's bid was twice that of Intamin's. Draw your own conclusions.
Ccron10 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 It's official! Western Chute Out has been removed from the park's lineup of water rides. http://www.hersheypa.com/attractions/hersheypark/rides/results.php?rh=99&pa=99&rt=2 Wait a minute, it's still there! Along with the Chaos page! It's just hidden. http://www.hersheypa.com/attractions/hersheypark/rides/detail.php?id=31&Submit2.x=23&Submit2.y=8&Submit2=Search Rodeo seens to be spared for next year.
YoshiFan Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Western Chute Out was closed all day yesterday (along with some other rides). I would have liked to have tried the winding rivers side before they tear it down.
christianscoasters Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 It better not be "The Blue Kangaroo" that kid designed a long time ago for the HP contest.
bigstevet07 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 It better not be "The Blue Kangaroo" that kid designed a long time ago for the HP contest. What the heck is the Blue Kangaroo?
Homer Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 ^When RCT3 was released back in 2004, Atari announced a design contest that was sponsored by Hershey. The grand prize was $100,000. But, the winning design was Blue Kangaroo, which was a very, very unrealistic coaster. You can read up on it here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25481&highlight=blue+kangaroo
larrygator Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 ^I loved that thread of mindless bitching from a bunch of acne faced, high pitch voice know nothings.
asr Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 It better not be "The Blue Kangaroo" that kid designed a long time ago for the HP contest. It would be hilarious if it was. That coaster was TERRIBLE
Team Thriller Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I checked RCDB.COM and they didn't have any news on coasters, but of course, rcdb.com only says whats new up to 2008, maybe it's a new coaster for 2009-2010. Anyway, hopes its true, GO B&M

You can read up on it here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25481&highlight=blue+kangaroo I still think that either A: The contest winner was drawn out of a hat or B: the judges were on near fatal amounts of illegal drugs and alcohol at the time of choosing the winner. Also, to reflect on Turbulence, I don't understand why they cancelled the project. Sure, they asked for $4,000,000 instead of $2,000,000 but $4,000,000 is not that much for a roller coaster - the overall price of a Vekoma Boomerang. But then again, the capacity is only slightly higher than Wild Mouse, so yeah. I personally hope for a Hyper Coaster.

imbordisux Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Wow, to everyone complaining about the "Blue Kangaroo"... the kid was only ten! Give him a break! He seemed like a nice kid and he showed some imagination, God forbid he doesn't have his double-major in Engineering and Physics! What ten-year old gives a shit about lateral G-forces? Come on, it was a contest for kids, sorry they didn't announce it as "12 and Under" to everyone who is complaining; maybe everyone who's complaining can join a contest that's geared towards an older crowd than a "draw your own roller-coaster" contest, something like "draw your own Pokemon".
Jman0477 Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I was there on monday and it says 10 months from this point but thats July 2008? I cant see them opening something new that late in the year they have always opened new rides opening weekend-Great Bear,Storm Runner,Lightning Racer
sixflagsguy5 Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 They could use something tall (150+ feet) and with lots of airtime. I hope that they don't cut up any more of that foresty/ storm runner area with this project.
timetrial3141592 Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 The reason that divemachines don't do zero-gee rolls is that the twist would provide too much force at the ends of the trains. Remember TTD's themeing.
