Though CP's Dragster is open and running great!

oMgZ!!! CP is better than GADv because TTD is open and Kindga Ka isn't!!!

it's my home park and I don't care. You can still have an awesome day without Ka.

Looks like us ACE'ers made it just in time for the preservation Conference. Many made the trip for just Ka and Toro.

Yeah, it's not like TTD doesn't still break down 25 times per day. I have yet to queue up for TTD without at least one breakdown.

No big loss. As long as El Toro and Nitro are running, who cares about Ka?

Except this creates longer lines at ET and Nitro

I wouldn't dream of attempting Great Adventure without a Gold Q-Bot. Though I imagine it's a different story for you locals.

^smart move ginzo. I usually only spend a couple of hours at the park when it opens or at the close.

On Saturday, lines were minimal from opening at 10-12:30 and I got 7 El Toros, 2 Ntiros and a Skull Mountain in the last row

^You must have been following us. We did 4 El Toro rides, 1 Nitro, 1 Batman, and Skull Mountain in the back row. As well as RT, and the 2 kiddy coasters (I needed the credits)!

The only good thing about Kingda Ka is it sucks the lines away from the good rides.

haha yeah after going on Dragster twice this week KK is worth nothing to me really anymore, get those OTHR out and put lap bars on that would save the ride (and everyone's heads and shoulders) a lot of pain

What bothers me is that Great Adventure hasn't bothered to note on its website that Chiller is down indefinitely.

I fail to see why this was necessary.

Because Dragster has WAAAYYYYY less problems than KK, including maintenance, reliability, and overall suckyness (<- personal opinion, don't get mad). Six Flags tried to improve what they obviously couldn't, and it didn't work out so well.

And Dragster still breaks down several times per day. I've spent a total of 4 days at CP this year, and Dragster broke down multiple times on every day. When I went to SFGAdv for a day Ka was running for the entire day, to the best of my knowledge. The only thing Dragster has over Ka is better restraints. Both rides demonstrate the folly of spending $25 million for bragging rights alone.

I don't believe the point of the coasters was bragging rights, that's just an added bonus. The point of both of them was to provide a great ride to the GP, and I think they're doing their job. I believe it is a great way of spending $25 million. It improves business greatly, and attracts more people each year.

On the other note, Top Thrill Dragster's computer is not quite up to date with Kingda Ka's, and I've noticed that every time a train rolls back, they have to completely reset the system. Is a rollback really a breakdown? I just see it as a time delay. It's not like the train never launches because the ride is so bad it breaks down all the time. It might do it occasionally, but the majority of breakdowns are because of rollbacks. Kingda Ka doesn't have very many rollbacks, so there's why. And in that respect, I think Dragster is a better ride, because the rollbacks are what make it unique. Everyone wants one, and I think a short breakdown would be worth the experience, if you're ever lucky enough.

I'm not going to get mad at you. Just hear me out. I get upset that even though both rides have basically the same amount of breakdowns, hiccups, and both have had a major accident, everyone still rags on Ka for being unreliable and that everyone seems to give Dragster a pass because it just so happens to be located at Cedar Point, the supposed "Garden of Eden" of amusment parks. Now Kingda Ka has had a better season this year and I've seen it eat lines so well that they've now taken away the temporary rope queue. Yes it does have breakdowns and rollbacks, but so does Dragster. Both are riddled with problems so to take a cheap shot at Ka like that really pisses me off.

That's my .02 cents

I disagree. It's always going to be easier to market a record breaking/holding coaster than something like Maverick. Hence the bragging rights thing. I also remember reading somewhere that Kinzel believes that TTD is his worst decision. I don't think you're going to see another one of these rides built. And that really says more about them than anything else.

If you like them, then that's great. I think they provide decent thrills, but the wait/ride time ratio is completely out of whack. And both parks have MUCH better coasters that you could be waiting to ride instead of killing half your day waiting for a 20 second ride.
