mateony Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 My 5-year old nephew stayed over for the weekend, and I was in charge of returning him to my brother (who lives in NJ). So why not avoid any sister-in-law interaction, and take him to Great Adventure! Hahaha. I'm happy to report that we had an awesome day. The place was pretty packed, but the ride ops were PUMPING the trains out. You could see the shift in morale, and the energy was contagious. So my brother met me, and took the little one home, and I ventured back into the park (probably around 6PM) to get in some rides. Wanted to get some dusk/night shots, since I don't recall seeing many..and here we go.. ..and I leave you with blurry arrow loopage... Hey, I'd take a "Football field" coaster, over a "Parking lot" view ANYDAY! Probably my favorite picture of the night.. Yolk.. I see an "S" Minus the pretzel loop, the ride is a snoozer, but MAN does it photograph well.. ..and now time for Superman sexiness! It was nearing 10, and I decided to make my exit.. I forgot how nice the wheel looks all lit up.. Oh pretty!² Oohh pretty! Desolate. The entire Plaza Del Carnaval area is just nicely done, and really pops at night. ..love the lights.. Great Adventure really seems to come alive at nightfall.. ..and after my shameless exit, and chugging, I re-entered, and rode last row. Unbelievable speed/airtime. Just crazy. ...and yeah...I voluntarily removed myself from the line after not realizing (I'm blonde..) that you can't drink beer in line..Sad. Grim. I know. I know. The lady was pretty sweet though, "Ohhhh, dear..hmmmm..you're really not supposed to...ohh...". Twas cute. But hey! They enforce the rules! LOL.. The line for Toro was only in the first set of switchbacks for most of the time. Let me say it again, the slowing of the lift (and it's only at the very top), takes NOTHING away from the rest of the ride. Twister section was especially insane.. Weeee! Of course, then I ran back to Toro for some sunset sexiness...and my camera batteries died (charging them before going would just make too much sense). $20 later, I had 4AA batteries... One train was leaving the station, leaving the lift, all the while the last train was hitting the brakes. Now that's hauling op's! Nitro is such a crowd pleaser.. B&M brings the sexy.. Toro was running EXTREMELY fast last night. At this point I hauled ass to the other side of the park to get some dusk Batman/Nitro goodness... El Toro through lush tropical vegitation! They are so "ZOMG!" I got on Ka at around 8 or 9, with a 10 minute wait. The lines may look bad, but you don't stop moving until you're in the station. Oh la la! 4 trains, launching everytime you turn around. Awesome crew. Hey! I'm open! Ride me! Lonely cable car..
Erik Johnson Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Wow! You really got a get set of photographs there. I really need to get back to this park and get my El Toro credit.

odene497 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 You took some awesome pictures. I love the last one, the shape of the blur is perfect, and I love the one where El Toro's drop just dives into the trees. It's sooo steep! -Nick
