I have not seen a "no earrings" sign since the Premier Launched coasters with OTSR's.

I also think the Arrow "megaloopers" also had them, but I haven't seen that rule enforced in years.

When Flight of Fear first opened at Kings Dominion, they had the same rule. A few years later, after the hype died down about the ride, they got rid of the rule. It was before they took away the shoulder harnesses. It's probably just being extra careful til they know how people react to the ride.

Several factors,

1. OTSRs- your head is bound to maybe hit the side of the restraint if the ride is forceful or rough (which is doubtful). Cedar Point does not want anybody's ears to bleed, which leads to reason number two...

2. Health- I doubt Cedar Point would want to be a hotbed for diseases, no? If your ears bleed and the blood dries on the restraint, Cedar Point could be liable for the spreading of diseases through the blood. In other words, do you really want bragging rights that Maverick gave you AIDS?

//I'd brag that Maverick gave me AIDS any day.

Top Gun at PCW has a "no earings rule" and if the ride ops see you with hoop earings or sometimes even studs they ask you to take them out. I can see (well actually feel) why this is put in place. Although they have been very lax with this rule (for the last like 2-3 years), a few people last year were told to have earings taken out prior to riding.

For the first rule, i'm guesing that since Mavvie dosen't use Anti Rollbacks and EVERYONE is used to stopping on the lift hill incase of an outage, they put that there because Maverick will slowely move down the hill and some riders might think they are plunging back into the station.

Well that's never a good sign. Have people ridden the ride yet?

Ummm...Ride doesnt open until Juneish. Way to keep up with current events!

As far as i knew, it was (before they tore out the piece of track) operational. I didn't mean guests, i meant any testers or somthing that could have said:

A) The roll was too insane.

and

B)There was head banging.

It just seems like ann odd policy to decide upon before the ride has had human testers.

Canobies Corkscrew has a ear rings warning sign and they also tell you when you get on you should take them out...

I have 7 of them and have never had any problem with them in.... So I dont know.. I also didnt have any problem with them in on Storm Runner or the other 5 rockets with OTSRs..

The original poster is talking about the earring warning, not the rollback one. Same for you Zack.

Regarding the topic, I guess they just want to warn people and prevent ear bleeding, the last thing they want is blood all over the shoulder harnesses.

That might have to do with the lims and magnets or somthing...

Eeeeerrrmmm...no. If it was because of magnets, they'd have to prohibit every belt, every riveted pair of jeans, every pair of sneakers (most eyelets are made of metal), etc.

I think I'll go with consensus on this one, having worn an earring on every Vekoma I've ever ridden...ouch.

I've ridden SFMM's Viper a few times in the last few years, and they still have a few signs up with the no-earring rule (as you might have noticed). After a few times with studs (no dangly stuff... wow, that came out wrong), I don't see why they still have that sign up. Someone must have lost a gigantic silver hoop in the 80's or something.

Can someone recall the reason why, as Robb called them, the Arrow multi-loopers, (AFAIK, SFMM's Viper and Geauga Lake's Double Loop, among others) have these signs? Did, someone, like, lose an ear or something? Gag me with a spoon!
