gax Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 So when i went on msn today this came up in the window and I thought I'd have a look. Every ride bar 1 is in a different country to me so I can't really judge if it's accurate or not, but I just thought I'd post it... http://travel.uk.msn.com/familyholidays/photogallery.aspx?cp-documentid=4717847
KrazyT Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Well they only have 9 really, since they have Kingda Ka there twice.
Homer Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Wow, MSN updated their list! I thought they reuse the same old list year after year that had Astroworld coasters on it and stuff. However, this list still sucks, it says "Son of Beast is world class..."
PKI Jizzman Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 ^Yup! And they would have the pic -with- the loop. Haha. And I would say 8 rides, because High Roller isn't there anymore Atleast they got Expedition GeForce and Millennium Force right! -PKI "worst top '10' ever" ManJZ
christianscoasters Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Surely something is better than Colossus or Superman: The Escape.
ginzo Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Wow, and I thought the Golden Ticket Awards were bad. We should have a "TPR lazy journalist" award, and give whomever wrote this piece first place.
snuggles Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 "With the launch of Infusion, the latest record-breaker at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, we thought the time was right to doff our caps to the world's greatest thrill rides."
Canobie Fan Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 lol.. Thats lame. omgz I have been on 1,'2',8,9,and 10..... MF is the only one that *should* be on that list... But even saying that... I dont like the ride.
Masked_Maverick Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Wow we all know how knowledgable msn is when it comes to Thrill Rides don't we?
easytoremember Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 I love how SOB is considerd one of the older style wooden coasters.
307 Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 In honor of MSN's list, I present my personal top five "coasters"! 05 Wacky Shack [Waldameer] While some may argue that this is not a "rollercoaster" per se, most "enthusiasts" are in agreement that not only is it a coaster, but it is one of the greatest of all time! It does more than just thrill with high speed and tight curves, as riders will go through many various themed "rooms" full of lifelike creep-show oddities and effects! 04 Sea Serpent [Morey's Piers] A rollercoaster so unique that nearly every major amusement park in the United States now boasts one of their own, however this was the original! The revolutionary design has yet to be replicated by any other rollercoaster, flipping riders upside down six times, both forwards AND backwards! It's no wonder that it's many people's favourite rollercoaster ever. 03 Son of Beast [Kings Island] The world's first looping rollercoaster is still riding high! Son of Beast was at one point the biggest rollercoaster in the world! The number of trees that had to die to create this amazing rollercoaster pales in comparison to the number of whoops and hollers of satisfied riders that traverse it's twisted track every year. Not only is the ride full of crazy turns taken at jaw-dropping speed, but one may feel as though they're floating on a cloud, thanks to the extraordinarily creative seating design. 02 Tomb Raider: The Ride [Canada's Wonderland] Though there are similar coasters at other parks, the riding sample only included this one. We can only wish it would've included more! This unique ride brings about experiences that other coasters only wish they could boast. Truly one feels as though they are flying through the air while securely fastened in the surprisingly comfortable and spacey cars, and thrown through a twisted track full of surprises! 01 High Speed Thrill Coaster [Knoebel's] The name very appropriately describes this coaster, as it's non-stop thrills from start to finish! High speed is an understatement, as the train flies through the seemingly endless track at what feels like supersonic speeds! The staggering heights the ride achieves, as well as the dizzying amount of helixes the coaster blazes through, are enough to make any seasoned coaster veteran think "WOW". There was very little debate that this is truly the best rollercoaster in the world. And that concludes the list! Hope you've enjoyed!
Wes Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 The first coaster to feature magnetic breaking this stunning construction can take 1,500 riders an hour and was the tallest complete-circuit rollercoaster when it opened in 2000. Jesus, does anyone proof read this shit? "Breaking"?!
IceDragon Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 The first coaster to feature magnetic breaking this stunning construction can take 1,500 riders an hour and was the tallest complete-circuit rollercoaster when it opened in 2000. Jesus, does anyone proof read this poo-poo? "Breaking"?! they know hardly anyone's going to read it, so why bother wasting time proof-reading?
Thorpe park maniac Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Well two of the rides, from what ive heard of the should be there, atleast one of my fav rides is in there alex 'good thing they got colossus as a thrill ride even though it hurts' collins p.s also they might have got their results from reviews, so who knows?
christianscoasters Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 I know that we're all bashing Infusion's "record breaking", but does anyone know why they would say "record" breaking? There's longer, faster, taller, older, and bigger coasters than Infusion !
Wes Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 ^ For what it's worth... Infusion, the world's first looping rollercoaster suspended entirely over water, is yet another ride which pushes back the boundaries of coaster design. Also, "breaking" in the term "record breaking" is correct. "Breaking" as in "the coaster uses a magnetic breaking system" is not. It should be braking.
ghost007jas Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Honestly I would say most of the coasters there deserve a spot on that list. I would say that: Kingda Ka, Expedition GeForce, Colossus, Riddlers Revenge, Son Of Beast and Millennium Force deserve a spot on that list. At least all of these are record breakers, with the exception of Millenium Force. However Millenium Force is a great ride regardless so its excused of its un-record breakingness.
Milkchan Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 According to MSN, they never been on the Son of Beast.
coastercrazed49 Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 ^Yeah they need to get there imformation straight, it seems like they took all the record breaking (but not very good coasters) on the list.
downunder Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Superman: The Escape? That's like saying Michael Jordan was one of the greatest baseball (not basketball) players in the world.
palavos3 Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 The Riddler's Revenge. A stand up? Are you kidding me??
