BeemerBoy
Things are starting to get out of hand in the league right now. Which is exactly what it needs. Screw all the tv analysts and newspaper columnists calling for stricter rule enforcement, and "gentlemanly play" blah blah blah. Eff that. I'm calling for even more blood on the ice, at least a six team retraction from the league, a new ESPN contract with Gary Thorne and Bill Clement back in the booth, and players beating fans with their own shoes (Mike Milbury is STILL my hero). Oh, and I also still want Bettman's head on a platter. Happy Valentine's Day!

Carnage
^ And to think I burned my 1st overall waiver pick on him in my fantasy league. I should have known to just let him be. He should have called it quits years ago. Now he's like the Brett Favre of hockey, except Favre could still play.
imawesome1124
Dangit, we lost again. We were such a great team last year, but with the Great 8 in a slump, we just don't have a formiddable offense like we did last year. It sucks to go from being the best team in the regular season, to looking like they aren't going to make the playoffs.

Anyways, Ducks didn't deserve to win the game after playing little defense.
beatle11
Thank you Tomas for 12 great seasons! You will be missed. Best of luck in Boston. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=354402 Oh mama! http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=354489 The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenceman Erik Johnson in a four-player trade with the St. Louis Blues. Johnson, Jay McClement and a conditional 2011 or 2012 first-round draft choice go to Colorado in a deal announced early Saturday morning. In return, St. Louis adds Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk and a conditional 2011 or 2012 second-round draft pick. Johnson, a former top-overall draft pick in 2006, had five goals and 14 assists in 55 games with the Blues this season. The six-foot-four, 232-pound 22-year-old has 20 goals and 71 assists in 203 career NHL games. "We are excited to be adding a top young defenceman in this league, a player who will have an impact on our blue-line for several years to come," Avalanche general manager and executive vice president Greg Sherman said in a release. McClement had six goals and 10 assists in 56 games with the Blues this season. The 27-year-old forward was drafted by St. Louis 57th overall in 2001 and has 52 goals and 104 assists in 449 career games. Stewart, 23, heads to St. Louis with 13 goals and 17 assists in 36 games for Colorado this season. The 6-2, 228-pound forward has 52 goals and 61 assists in three NHL seasons. Shattenkirk, who is currently playing in his first NHL season, ranks second among league rookie defenceman with seven goals and 19 assists in 46 games. The 5-11, 193-pound 22-year-old is just the second rookie defenceman in league history to register a point streak of nine-or-more games. "We're very excited to acquire a young emerging power forward in Chris Stewart and a top young NHL defenceman in Kevin Shattenkirk," said Blues GM and executive VP Doug Armstrong. "These are two solid young players who will help us now as we continue to grow and improve our team."
BaMiTsPaT
Craig Anderson...you play like absolute @#%$ for us in Colorado, and then when you get traded to Ottawa you turn into a brick wall? 47/47 really aggravating...
phantomfan93
Well Pittsburgh has around 17 million in cap space with Crosby and Malkin out. But if they keep Crosby in, they have 8.7 million.

beatle11
^I knew Anderson was gonna play great last night. Didn't quite think that great but good for him. Ottawa had no business being in a close game last night never mind winning. Leafs simply outplayed them the whole game but Anderson shut the door. We have to deal with that all the time. We acquire a player who is doing good, and they suck when they get here. We get rid of somebody who is not performing, and they do great. Like when we traded Fleischmann to Colorado, and he gets like a point per game.
BaMiTsPaT
^Valid point. I just never liked Anderson, and it helps worsen my mood that we are in a 10 game slump, but hopefully Elliott can help bolster our goaltending with a new change of scenery, and we still have a few good picks to look forward to next season
beatle11
^They will definitely be a good team in the next couple years. Hopefully Erik Johnson gets as good as everyone thought he would be when he was drafted. They gave up a lot to get him. Either way they have a good core to work around. tdub96
Penguins just hosed Dallas, Goligoski for Neal and Niskanen. Really helps the Pens, not only right now, missing three key forwards, but for the future as well.
beatle11
^Pens definitely did well on that one. Goligoski is a good player, but they need offense and Neal could be a 35 maybe 40 goal scorer playing with Crosby. Niskanen ain't a bad young d-man either. I think it was more of a money issue for Dallas. They cut about 2.5 million of their payroll for next year with this trade. With ownership issues still looming there, you can understand the Stars thinking on this trade.
Doerzb91
Go Go sucked... no. 5 defensmen on our team for a no. winger and a not too shabby defensmen....
Top Thrill Dragster
Crosby finally has a winger. I cant wait to see the numbers Crosby and Neal put up.
tdub96
^yea, I think Neal will definetly be able to put up some big numbers alongside Crosby and Geno in the future. A top-line of Neal-Crosby-Kunitz doesn't sound too bad at all. Plus add Geno and Letang at the points on the PP, and our formidable offense just got better. ^^Go-Go didnt suck. He was actually a pretty good offensive defenseman, just overshadowed by Letang's success.
Doerzb91
Um, that is very debatable... too much of an offensive/defensemen for me... believe me, my coach yelled at me all the time for doing the same thing go-go did... I can tell you from first-hand experiences that it is very aggravating for him to be back on the defense too much. I defiantly think he'll do awesome on Dallas... but, in all reality this trade will not carry the Pens through the playoffs this year really wanted a cup for Tangradi this year. And yes I am from Pittsburgh if you are wondering.
tdub96
I dont think Goligoski had a problem being a stay-at-home defenseman, but then again I never saw anywhere that Bylsma wanted him to be a strictly defensive defenseman. And it didnt show in Alex's play either. He'd still bring the puck up in rushes even strength and would be a powerplay quarterback. I don't know where you got that from buddy. But the trade won't solely carry the Penguins to the Cup, true. But getting Crosby back and having him play with Neal will help greatly. All we need is Sid back. As for Tangradi, he's a solid prospect and nothing more at this point and time. He had a rough start to the season, choked in the AHL, and was only back up here for the injuries. So my thought is, even if we did make it to the SCFinals this year, he wouldnt even be on the team at that point. Im from Pittsburgh too. Die hard Pens fan right here, and just an overall hockey fan. I also play as well, ice and inline. But I'm a forward unlike you.
imawesome1124
What a great game last night! Our defense was great all three periods. We only scored one goal but that's all we needed. It was also fun getting to see Brads beat the crap out of Craig. Just a great game overall.
BaMiTsPaT
Yay we won a game...and Johnson got a goal, which is always nice to see when a team acquires a new player, but I don't know when Elliott will get to Denver. That being said, Budaj played decently tonight, and I hope we continue our winning tomorrow (technically later today) against Edmonton!
tdub96
I loved Erik Johnson's goal, and I loved his celebration. He was so pumped to come back to St.Lou and get that goal, a big slap to the face of the Blues front office, like "thats what you get for giving up on me." Bam! That was sick
