Gutterflower Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 With all the accelerators going in around the world at the moment i almost forgot Intamin made normal mega coasters. http://www.parkworld-online.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/188/9_new_Intamin_coasters.html with the announcement that Tobu Zoo are adding one in 2007 im wondering what Intamin will do with the seating? as all new Rockets have had OSTR's will they add this system to the new megas?
robbalvey Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Very interesting..... 9 new Intamin coastersPublished: 01 January, 2007 Intamin will deliver nine new rollercoasters around the world in 2007. ZacSpin, the Swiss suplier’s first Ball Coaster installation, will go into operation to Linnanmäki, Helsinki, Finland, with a second for Terra Mitica, Benidorm, Spain. A launched coaster is destined for Heide Park, Soltau, Germany, a sister machine to ‘Rita’ at Alton Towers in England. A winged accelerator coaster, to be called Furious Baco, is set for Port Aventura, Salou, Spain, while a Motorcycle Accelerator coaster is planned for Dreamworld, Gold Coast, Australia. Tobu Zoological Park, Japan, will introduce a Mega Coaster. Everland, South Korea, will welcome a large wooden coaster. Movie World, Germany, will receive Surf Rider, while Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, introduces Maverick, an LSM propelled coaster. Additionally, Intamin is supplying a Super Gyro Tower to Terra Mitica. Good thing we're planning trips to Japan and South Korea for this year! --Robb
PKI Jizzman Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 OoOOoooOO .....I hope it will be like a combo of Goliath(WW) and S:ROS (SFNE). But who knows what creativve coaster Intamin will come up with.
SharkTums Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 As long as it's better than Tokyo's other Intamin Mega Coaster I'll be happy!
Xtreme-me Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 you really didnt like LaQua (Is that right)? Ive heard alot of good things about it.
SharkTums Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 The worst Intamin Hyper Coaster is still better than 95% of the world's coasters...but I found it very disappointing compared to most Intamin rides. The rest of the park is cool.
Jeezus Juice Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Ah man, I loves me some Thunder Dolphin! It's not the best only because some of the other Intamins are so damn good! What's the status of the Tobu Zoo coaster? I'm guessing this is what they picked to replace Mt. Rocky? Good choice in that case, even if I missed the credit. I'm really curious when this will be open, like maybe early Marchish. Where is Chris Belson?! I know he must have a Stargate or something. I'm sure he wouldn't mind popping over for a PTR. I hope he brings his construction helmet! -Don -edit- No love from the Tobu website yet, although I though I found something good when I saw this: * New attraction* Coming Soon!! In the Tobu animal park outer space!? Experience type attraction of the new feeling which designates “space exploration” as concept opens this spring! The japanese first indoor type attraction which reproduces the outer space making use of the mirror. From the child way to the aged person it has become the contents which can be enjoyed. In everyone pleasure* Start of business: 2007 middle of March fee: Undecided I'm guessing this is what's going into the simulator building behind the looping mouse. Unless the Japanese have found a way to inclose a hyper coaster!!
Airtime&Gravity Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Wow, sounds like Asia will be getting several great coasters for this year. I'm really interested in the motorcycle rocket and the wooden coaster. I can see it being a massive, but then something like Balder might work as well. As for the hyper, anything better than the piece of crap at La Qua will be great.
coastermaniac1 Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I'm really curious when this will be open, like maybe early Marchish. This March? Has it even started construction yet?
SharkTums Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 ^He's not being serious...just wishful thinking since he'll be there in March! Hey Don, you'll be in Japan...come on, you spend the money and time to go check it out and get us a construction update!!
Jeezus Juice Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 ^ Screw your construction update. I gotta get those photos to Duane ASAP. OMG I got the rcdb scoop!!!
Canobie Fan Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 OMG I got the rcdb scoop!!! lol.. Sadly... I myself have found a coaster that wasnt listed on RCDB... And yes.. I sent in its info and photos of it ( http://www.rcdb.com/ig3683.htm )
Jeezus Juice Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 ^ Loser! Although I've done the same thing too. We should have a contest to see who can send in the lamest coaster to rcdb. Here's my submission:www.rcdb.com/ig3413.htm?picture=1 Eat that! LOL. -Don
OldJJman Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 ^ Try these: http://www.rcdb.com/ig394.htm and, the really pathetic: http://www.rcdb.com/ig395.htm JJ
Jeezus Juice Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Oh holy hell, these are the very same photos that I used when I went out to the "funderparks". Like the picture of the one in Lodi wasn't enough to scare me away. I saw the pictures and went anyway. I guess you're in the lead for now for actually scooping the Lodi coaster. I'm impressed man. -Don
OldJJman Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I guess you're in the lead for now for actually scooping the Lodi coaster. I'm impressed man. Thank you! Nothing like being the leader in LAME!! JJ
cfc Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 "Oh, lord, stuck in Lodi again . . ." So Micke's Grove is still in business, eh? Didn't have any coasters there the last time I visited (when I was about eight). How about this one? http://www.rcdb.com/ig652.htm?picture=1 Now that one makes ya feel dirty.
Jeezus Juice Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 ^ LOL, I KNOW that guy! I met him in 05 on an ECC trip. I said that I'd been on most everything in CA except for the stupid kiddie coasters and stuff. He then told me about his awesome trip to all of the crappy kiddie costers in CA. He's part of the reason I actually went out there to ride them! Except for that one. Driving all the way out to Tahoe outside of ski season is not worth anything, even a kiddie coaster. I did get the ones in Sac, Concord, Lodi, and the 2 in Fresno though! -Don
cfc Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 ^Oh, I dunno. You could blow some cash in the casinos on the Nevada side, then head southwest, play a round of mini-golf at Magic Carpet, then take a ride on Rolling Thunder. Then again, maybe not.
rollermonkey Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Hey, Don, I left Japan back in November... While this coaster isn't quite as lame as a Moli-coaster, it cost me about $200 to find out what it was. New for 2006! A coaster named after BEER! http://www.rcdb.com/ig3549.htm?picture=2 Or not.
Ed Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 $200? =\ Why spend that much? No seriously i'm (half) interested as to why on earth you spent all that money.
rollermonkey Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 My ship pulled in to a relatively near by port. (Aomori) I couldn't get there easily with the time constraints and all the other parks I wanted to visit during the same 4 day port visit, so I had to do that park by itself. I had to pay for the train both ways, plus cab, food, entry and ride tickets. The total was right about $200 for the one credit. Before I went, no westerner really knew what was there, other than the name of the coaster. C'mon, Kirin is BEER! It should have been a really decent ride. Too bad I didn't know what kirin meant in Japanese at the time... At least no one else will have to go there again!
rollermonkey Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Wes, nobody knew what was there! If it had turned out to be a mid-sized decent ride, you wouldn't ask that question, right? So, I went. Now, nobody else has to.
Carnage Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 That just shattered my mental image of what sailors do with their shore leave. Don't sailors still go boozing and womanizing while off the ship? Or is this a new age navy type thing??
