Hattuchili Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 PTR: 4 Days In New York City Yes, it was cold - 1st Day / more pictures coming soon! Hey guys, I am back from New York New York! It was my first trip there since over 6 years. So, I was really looking forward to that trip. The flight from Orlando to JFK Airport was good and under 2 hours! After that we took the Subway from the Airport to our hotel on the Central Park! Wow, could you belive how bad it is sitting over 1 hour in the train, with all your luggage, to your hotel! Anyway, the room was okay. We only slept there a few hours each night! Every morning we started with a quick breakfast at Starbucks! Mmmhhh, I love that place! Then we made nearly everything in the City, from museum´s, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square to Empire State Building. It was all very nice and fun! The only bad thing I recognized was that the most people in NYC are really rude (except the police) and always in a rush. However, all in all a very good trip. --Sören Onto the pictures: At the end we needed some hot tea and food, because it was really cold - "I still need to figure out how the subway is working - stupid Soren"! End Day 1 / more is coming soon... a fountin at Rockefeller Center... Are you still looking at the pictures??? ... ... ... We made it to the Rockefeller Center! Before you ask, yes it was cold in New York! Help, big snow flackes.... "Why is it so hard to make pictures in the night?" After that I had a better idea, lets go to Rockefeller Center.... Don´t go with 3 girls in this shop - poor Soren... The girls had a good idea - shopping... Then we all were so hungry a tried the good NY food! Next the nice subway to our hotel, which we needed for only 1 hour! First we needed to take the Airtrain from JFK to the subway! Hey, we are in New York "I still need to figure out how the subway is working here"! Does someone understands this map??? NY we are coming... Yes, I made it in the plane. My 3 chicks (Nicole, Yannicke and my Schatz Alessandra) waiting for the boarding.
SonOfBeastSucks Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 The only bad thing I recognized was that the most people in NYC are really rude (except the police) and always in a rush. Everyone says NYC people are jerks, but my experience was that they were pretty nice. Weird. Anyway, nice PTR.
Zen Coaster Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I was in NYC in January 2000/2005. Both times very cold but lovely. Seeing the photos of Rockefeller Center takes me back but didn't skate either time; will next time though. What was strange was that our friend wanted us to take pictures of it for her and actually rung up while we were there doing that. Parents were over in the US in November and Mum didn't like NYC as much this time of year... the place felt busier and less friendly. Both times I've been there though I have mainly found the people fantastic aside from a few. Do you have any particular standout memories of rude people there this visit? You didn't go out to Coney Island at all? Thanks for sharing the pics, Soren.
Hattuchili Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 ^ That was only day 1. I will post more pictures, soon! We really had as blast and I made nearly 500 pictures! hehe Thanks for the nice commends. The people were not all rude, but a few! I think the people here in Florida a more nice! Or is it just Disney??? --Sören
tngdiablo Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Ahhh...home! <3 Great pictures, can't wait to go back home this weekend after a very rough semester.
larrygator Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Soren - if I knew you would have had 3 chicks with you I so would have been your tour guide. Keep in mind that this time of year a lot of those rude New Yorkers are actually tourists. The rushing is because we are worked to the bone and generally have 30 minutes to finish lunch and since commutes are so long (longer than your hour train ride) people are usually rushing to catch commuter trains/buses so they don't sit around 30 minutes waiting for the next one. I have always found NYers to be rude to each other but helpful to strangers. I know whenever I see someone looking at a map I try to help them out.
SharkTums Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I think that sometimes New Yorkers are deemed 'Rude' when in fact they're just very 'no nonsense'. They talk fast, know where they're going, and don't suck up or sugar coat crap. Nothing wrong with that! As for the Empire State Building thing, I'm sure you can understand why they're a bit on edge. I've always had to take my belt off in airports. The one thing you'll learn is never to talk back to any security person that can make your life more difficult!
Hattuchili Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 Okay guys, it is time for day 2 of my insane 4 days in NYC. On this day we made it to Madam Tussaud´s, Times Square, Empire State Building, Central Station and shopping at Macy´s and other nice expensive shops... --Sören Onto the pictures: The decoration of all the shops were awesome. Thanks again for reading. more pictures coming, soon! I promise! For a nice light show.... Last stop was Central Station! One more picture of Times Square at night! To see a big Dinosaur... Rhight into Toys´R´Us... Anyway, back at Times Square... I hate shopping in crowded shops... Next Macy´s... It wa really nice and I am sure I will be back one day later for pictures at night! more pictures... Yes, we have been there! Statue of Liberety, I will see you tomorrow. It is really high. ... What a great view. ... Welcome Enough of that, we took the subway to the Empire State Building. Only if we can make the movie of it! What, you want to go home with these guys? Okay, then I´ll take this nice lady home... Hey, what are you doing with that guy? Then we came to this nice Party... This was the first guy we met there. After tons of pictures at Times Square we made it to Madam Tussaud´s. We are all there. Early in the morning at Times Square.

Frade Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Hey man, great pics and seems you had such a great time, see you later
Blazen_AZN Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Did you end up seeing anything on Broadway?
arrowfanman Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Wow Soren, excellent PTR! Really looks like a great trip to NY! -Jahan
Ryan King Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Soren / Zooren (The Way you Taught me to Say It) Awesome Photos Man! Really Enjoyed Em! So did they let you into the base of the Statue of Liberty? My father was just there visiting and I guess they had it closed...? -Ryan
ktglads Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 I was there the same days as you were and I will agree - it was COLD! We went to the Statue on Friday and yes, you can get to the base, but you need a tour to do so. These are the same price as the admission, but "sell out" on days. You also have to go through a second line of security to get in there after a little museum, but you are allowed out onto the base. I think I was there for all of 30 seconds since it was so cold and windy that it was unbearable
dj snow Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Nice report. I think a lot of people have misconceptions about NYC ("it's unfriendly, it's dirty, it's dangerous," etc.). I find it to be easy to navigate and full of good people. I think it's also interesting to note how clean the city is, as can be seen in many of your shots. In those on-the-street shots and the Central Park photo, there's hardly any litter to be seen. Hooray for NYC!
socalMAN123 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Great pictures Soren! Looks like you had a fun time in New York. ---Brent
iZak Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Great TR Soren! I'm heading out there this weekend for New Years, and I'm planning on doing the same stuff you did. I've been there and done everything 100 times, but I'm taking my girlfriend this year, and it's her first time (2nd time on the east coast ever). I showed her your pics, and she's even more excited than before. Thanks dude, and glad you had a great time!
Sir Clinksalot Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Awesome TR. Looks like I will be making my first trip to NY in a month or two for business. I hope I have at least a day to tour the city.
YoshiFan Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Great pictures, looks like you had a nice trip. It was cool to meet you today at Epcot.
JamieCara Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Glad you found your experience here a blast! It was cold? This is warm for us this winter! It's almost 60 degrees today! I was in the city last week and I was fine in a sweater and jeans... walking around all day really makes you work up a sweat. See you were on CP West! My best friend's Apt is on there! And the wax museum! Did you go in the chamber of horrors? Kinda lameee.
