  1. wow - your pictures show how really crappy our seats were when we saw the tour in Toronto. It really was an awesome concert, though
  2. I saw it over the weekend with both people who have read the books and with some who had not even heard of the series. Both sets enjoyed it, although I will disclaim that we were all females aged 25-30, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. They did a solid job bringing the series to life. Now I have my own nitpicks with things like they not caring about the cast outside the main 5 characters, but overall it was enjoyable. If you enjoyed the series, I would say to take the leap and go see the movie. Well, maybe wait 2 weeks or so before the throngs of squealing teen girls see it and then go.
  3. In 2003, there was a seatbelt-type harness that went over your head and clicked into the middle. It was a V rather than a single over the shoulder seatbelt. While I didn't time the dispatching of the trains, I do remember that it seemed to take forever for them to get a train ready to go, so 5 minutes between trains would not have been unheard of. I do seem to remember more than one train going at a time, but I think it was more of one train was going up the lift hill (which was quite slow) ans the other train was being unloaded/loaded
  4. I rode it in October 2003 when I had a night layover in Johannesberg. I could try to answer questions but I may be a little hazy as I had not slept in over 24 hours since I went right to the park after being on planes for over 20 hours
  5. Congrats on the nomination for the award. I saw the movie and thought it was very well written and did not follow the normal path that movies about this topic take. I have to say that of the nominees for best picture, this is in my top 2. Here's hoping that there is a show and we can see you at the event.
  6. Since I was 9 when the park closed, I remember some vague and wierd things about Crystal Beach. I remember the airjets and mirrors in the fun house. Mostly it is from the same position where the building was a U and you could see from one side to another. The oddest thing I remember is going to the beach part one day and there were tons of dead fish all washed ashore. I don't know why they were there or why my parents would take us to the beach when it was covered in fish, but I do remember that as well.
  7. That big tower is my work building (HSBC tower). You can't see it from the thruway, but the above ground subway goes right through the middle of it. Its great, especially since it creates a lovely wind tunnel effect and makes it snow up in the winter And that is the Buffalo Bison's field. If you would have looked to the left, you would have seen HSBC arena where the Sabres currently play and the Aud where they used to play
  8. Long time lurker here, thought I might post though. My code is 8576 1376 9423 5596 Katie
  9. I was there the same days as you were and I will agree - it was COLD! We went to the Statue on Friday and yes, you can get to the base, but you need a tour to do so. These are the same price as the admission, but "sell out" on days. You also have to go through a second line of security to get in there after a little museum, but you are allowed out onto the base. I think I was there for all of 30 seconds since it was so cold and windy that it was unbearable
  10. If there was a ride accident with the trains or restraints, that would have been published as well like it was with Big Thunder in Disneyland. I think it is safe to say it was most likely a health-related issue like a heart attack or the likes Also, is it definite that he was 12? I have seen 7 as an age in a few locations as well. That's a pretty big difference in age and rider size there
  11. Mine would definitely have to be Cedar Point, July 17, 2004 - it basically rained all day, so I think we got on about 5 - 6 rides. To top it all off, I decide its a good idea to climb the guard rails at Gemini since there was noone in line to get through the lines faster. Since it was still wet, I slipped, fell and managed to break both bones in my leg. So being taken out in an ambulance and having to spend several days in the Firelands regional hospital (I did get a month's vacation from work out of it, though) would be my worst time at a theme park
  12. I would probably go with South Africa. The countryside is beautiful. I would have to go back to the Northern province, although it is quite a few hours from the theme parks, the relaxation would be worth it
  13. I broke both bones in my lower leg at the same time. Lets just say that rain, sandals, and attempting to hop the guard rail at Cedar Point don't mix
  14. Its really weird if you get what you think is a set shot and set it to automatic refresh. You can see the people walking by slowly. But really, 6 days a week in a hotel and then fly home? Sure it would be nice for a little while, but that could get tiring after awhile. I would like to know his total cost of doing this - it has to be pretty expensive
  15. I'll be there on November 29th. Hoping for it to be a little warmer than it was for the Halloween party I went to. Just another FYI, there are also annual pass holder discounts available on the tickets: Annual passholder discounts available November 29, December 1, 4 and 13 Age 10 & up $35.10 Age 3-9 $27.64
