Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread

p. 275: New resort announced as part of a $500 million development plan!

I'm kinda stoked about this alpine coaster, never ridden one before. I'm gonna try really hard to not perpetuate the asian female stereotype, but let's keep it real- the chances of me driving full speed into the back of someone are pretty high.

Thank you for this. I wish more people would embrace their stereotypes. I'm German/Jewish, and I'm always conflicted about wanting to throw myself in an oven. But I've come to terms with it, and I'm OK now.

Oh my god, you went there

^This has been posted before, and like last time it needs to be pointed out that this guy did NOT have permission to do this, and he caused a big headache for the park even though it hadn't opened yet. They had to shut everything down during testing and it delayed things, but even worse is the obvious potential threat it creates for the park. Just imagine an unscrupulous or idiotic person flying a drone in the path of a coaster going 60+ MPH.

In any case, no one has the right to fly drones in air space that doesn't belong to them. Doesn't matter if it's a "public" place, or if it's closed, or if it's the off-season or whatever.

Is it even possible to get permission from parks to do this sort of stuff?

For drone footage, I don't think so. Unless it's a special event like a travel channel show or something similar, and then it has to be done by someone who is trained in doing so. A lot of parks have very strict anti-drone policies.

You can contact the parks media department. They'll likely have looked into using drones themselves for their location and can work with other departments to ensure it's done safely. We don't allow drones over our park, but we also have two on property we use from time to time.

Let's be honest. . . This is the only reason people actually come to SDC!!

This is why I like SDC so much. All that food, and you never really gain weight because you spend your day climbing up and down the mountain. Except for my last visit, where I sent my friend on multiple skillet runs while I marathoned on Outlaw Run. Not ashamed.

Word on the street is things are getting ready to kick into overdrive at the park on the 2017 coaster.

The 500ft tall inverted, launched, B&M Aquatrax with 19 inversions?

Yep you got it. Freaking dingleberry fairy

Employees were told that starting later this week they would have to park elsewhere due to that becoming a staging area

Awesome!!! Considering we are at the park every other weekend it will be interesting to see if this actually turns out to be true or not.

Leave him alone. He was trying to be like the cool kids and failed miserably.

It's not any more ridiculous than any of the other rumors going around. Until the park officially confirms something anything is possible.
