onewheeled999
It's my pleasure to be the first to tell all of you that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is absolutely glorious. Seriously, based on the first four or so hours, it's among the best games I've ever played. It looks beautiful, has some of the best music in gaming, has varied combat/magic/stealth options, and most of all, it's just plain fun. I highly recommend picking this up if you're into RPGs. accelerate
So, in Pokémon LeafGreen, when I finally beat my rival and went through victory road, I accepted the fact that the game was hard, and, as usual, I would not be able to beat the Elite Four (for those of you who don't play this, the Elite Four are the most difficult fights of the normal story mode). This time, though, I beat all of them on my first try, including my rival, even though I was about 12 levels under where I should've been. Today, I also got the National pokédex, and my highest Pokémon was level 51!
Real
M-rated or not, slaughtering a bunch of innocent people in a crowded airport is still disturbing. I didn't play through the whole MW3 campaign yet, so I don't specifically know what this message is for, but it's understandable if there is a similar mission. They aren't people...they're pixels. I had no problem doing that in that level. I left no one standing. People that make video games out to be "real" or more than what they are - bits of code, textures and polygons really need to remind themselves what it is - NOT real life. AT no point since that game did I ever want to walk into an airport with bullet proof vests, an RPK and just mow down everyone. With that said. BF3. ROCKS. FeelTheFORCE
You're 28 years old and know the difference between right and wrong. Some 11 year old un-monitored kid might not and that could insinuate some disturbing thoughts in his mind. Not to mention if a parent is watching him play (unaware of what the game entails) and sees that warning pop up. Trust me, I'm on the side of "bad parenting causes violence in kids, not video games," but I still wouldn't want my pre-teen kid shooting up an airport, and am glad they are considerate enough to put the warning into the game knowing there will be many adolescents playing it. Also, I realize they are just "textures and pixels," but this isn't your 1980s NES system anymore where the characters are composed of 5 pixels. Games now are more realistic than they have ever been, and will continue to improve. How long will it be until it is , instead of through a controller? BaMiTsPaT
For all those Skyrim fans out there, I have a question. I never hopped on the Oblivion bandwagon, and saw that it is $20 now. I definitely want to pick up Skyrim, but thought it'd be nice to play through Oblivion first. My question is this: is it worth buying oblivion still, or is it too out-dated by now? That simulator actually looks pretty sweet, though I'm not sure how many times I'd want to keep getting nailed by paintballs due to my tendency to being killed a lot in MW2/3. There's probably a fair share of adults out there too who can't get a grasp of themselves...like the idiot who threatened Best Buy if they sold out of MW3 in which he had preordered (read about this on a game news website). Things like this give lawyers a reason to say "Oh noes, the video games are dangerous!" If video games were to influence me, (and I've been playing games since childhood, violent or not), I would have attempted Sub Zero's spine rip on the idiots who gave me a lot of heat at elementary school, and I would have been running around pounding my head on brick structures in hopes that money or 'power ups' will come out. Outside of this debate of violent games and redundant disclaimers, I just picked up Mario Land 3D tonight. Pretty cool so far, love the fact that Tanooki Mario's back. As a side note, it would have been quite funny (and ridiculous) if Mario 3D had a disclaimer saying that "Through the course of this game, you will be pounding your head on blocks and jumping long distances. Please do not attempt these maneuvers. There will also be situations in which you will be crushing enemies. If you're offended by killing creatures, you can opt to play the game without them." Angry_Gumball
^That just made me think...if anything's going to be offensive in these "Online Multiplayer" games (M-rated or not), it's going to be those nuisance kids/teens/adults who like to trash talk and mock your 'noobish skills.' Nothing that a friendly fire can't take care of Even at that, their smart mouth remarks, they're just looking for attention, a la being a troll. I don't let them get to me. I've dealt with my share of trolls back in my high school/early college days, exchanged words, and deliberately killed them regardless of being on my team. Now, it's a matter of sitting back and laughing at them.
Moose
^Admittedly that is the worst part of MMOs. Anyone playing Skyrim?
1pizza14
I am currently playing Skyrim and I LOVE IT! The world of Skyrim just looks so amazing and I want to play more and more. I just finished the quest where you learn the sprint dragon calls or whatever. Where you can sprint ahed really quickly. The only thing I don't like is the insanely long times it takes to get to different parts of the map. Overall loving it though.

Nothing is more fun than having some annoying 8yr old running his mouth in the pre-game lobby on our team. And then its Team rockets and no one vetoes. Ut Oh. Guess what happens next? LOOK DOWN AND FIRE! FIRST ONE TO JESUS WINS! Boom. -5 to start the game. Friend gets booted. Well all respawn again, then I look down and fire. -3 for me, -8 for the team. Darn. Now Im booted. Then our other friend does it. -2. -10 total. He gets booted. Now that little annoying kid is -10 in the hole and 2 on 5. LOL GG KID! Want proof? Some of the funniest photos ever for me: LOOK DOWN AND FIRE! One grenade, 6 betrayals. EVERYONE IN THE WARTHOG!
harper83087
Assassins Creed Revelations and Saints Row 3 come out today. I'm going to be busy for a while, plus I'm still only half way through LA Noire.

Carnage
For all those Skyrim fans out there, I have a question. I never hopped on the Oblivion bandwagon, and saw that it is $20 now. I definitely want to pick up Skyrim, but thought it'd be nice to play through Oblivion first. My question is this: is it worth buying oblivion still, or is it too out-dated by now? Oblivion isn't too out-dated. Plus there's plenty of mods out there that can up the graphics even more. Obviously it won't look nearly as nice as Skyrim, but it will hold it's own. Just be prepared to lose a lot of time if you get both Oblivion and Skyrim. They both take huge amounts of time if you get into them. Skyrim has been out a week and I've spent more time in game then I have at my full time job, 57 hours so far.
BaMiTsPaT
^I heard they take an insane amount of time to complete, some claims of over 1000+ hours for Skyrim (I think this is inflated). I am currently playing Fallout 3, and so I am asking for Skyrim for Christmas, since I do not want to spend $60 right now. I did trade in some games to pick up Mass Effect 2 because I want to have it for when I beat Mass Effect. I have way too many games that I want to play and too little time! imawesome1124
I really need some more video games. For Christmas(and my birthday which is Thursday) I am asking for Rage, MW3, BF3, Skyrim, and both Left 4 Dead games.
Carnage
^^ Fallout3 is probably a similar idea as Skyrim/Oblivion. If you concentrate purely on the main storyline, you could finish the game fairly quickly. But if you ignore the storyline and go off exploring, you could find yourself spending 100 hours without advancing the main story very far. Skyrim is reported to have an infinite amount of side quests due to a random quest generation system. So you could keep doing them and end up playing forever. As it stands now I probably have dozens of quests in my log. It makes it kind of hard to decide what to do. Plus, even when I decide on what quest to do I end up getting sidetracked on my way there. Angry_Gumball
Also got my copy of Skyward Sword, an amazing game so far. Nothing more satisfying than a fresh new experience, no clue of where to go and explore. I'm now in the woods searching for those little furry Kikwee things. 5 years ago, I spent my college break (and days off from work) playing Twilight Princess like crazy. No breaks and days off this year as I'm done with school but I know what I'll be hitting up when I get off work.
DiSab
Got my copy of Skyward Sword today (technically yesterday, I guess). I'm about an hour and a half into it, and I'm already blown away. The worst part is that I have a paper and presentation I need to work on for one of my classes, so it's going to be hard to balance the two. harper83087
So all weekend I was switching back and forth between Assassins Creed Revelations and Saints Row 3. AC is a very worthy third for Ezio's story and combines the best attributes of both AC2 and brotherhood. Saints Row I was a little skeptical on because of how "cartoony" the previews looked. I can safely say it's one of the better open worlds I've played, tons of comedy and the missions are fun and have just enough challenge to keep me entertained. I've preferred Saints Row over GTA since the first SR and it holds true with this game.
onewheeled999
I have a sinking feeling that I'm building my Skyrim character to be a complete disaster. He's an Altmer (High Elf) that I guess could be categorized as a battle mage, but he's really doing everything. Archery, destruction magic, restoration magic, single-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, alchemy, smithing, enchanting, blocking... Pretty much everything but sneaking and black magic-style stuff, my little Altmer does. Seeing as this is my first Elder Scrolls game, I have absolutely no idea what the hell I'm doing. Am I doomed? Should I try to narrow my specialization a bit? Or should I not worry about keeping it broad?
