pkdcoaster Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Flight of fear has reopened (today) at PKD! Thank you CF! JEFF
ECZenith Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Good news, I was worried for a minute there. I'm a fan of all Premier mad cobras... but ti would be cool if they rethemed it, just not with the Disaster Transport treatment.
alpengeist04 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 You should thank Cedar Fair. If Paramount still owned the parks, FOF would have been relocated.
SFNE Dude Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Does this mean the other Premier launched coasters will open soon, such as Chiller at GAdv?
alpengeist04 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 ^I doubt Chiller will be open anytime soon.
iamfeelingfatANDsassy Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 It's good to here it's reopened, but I was secretly hoping it would be relocated to PGA I know that was REALLY unlikely, but still, PGA needs something new....bad. And I personally wouldn't mind getting Flight of Fear!
DATman Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 ^^^^^Chiller is down for the season, as stated by Six Flags
coasterdude5 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 This is great, go Cedar Fair (or whoever made the decision)
Angry_Gumball Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I myself was hoping that it would come to PGA as well...They need a new coaster!
pkdcoaster Posted August 19, 2006 Author Posted August 19, 2006 You should thank Cedar Fair. If Paramount still owned the parks, FOF would have been relocated. No It would not have....It would be cheaper for them to build a clone than take it down (carefully) to be reassembled. Removing a major ride to be re-located is just as expensive as putting one up. I heard the seats are bright orange now and they worked on getting the effects in the station working again. If anybody goes this weekend please confirm. JEFF
cfc Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Sheesh! I go to the West Coast for a week and look what happens--actual good news at PKD! FoF is great.
kennywood!007 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 This is awesome cause I still need the credit. It was closed when I went last year. I dunno why. I should be attending the park next year!.....hopefully
okinawaboy11 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 This makes me very happy. I concur. I mean I was really worried. That big black wall look very permanent.
nemesis-storm Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Man! It opens after I visited Pkd. Tell me about it I'm glad it's re-opened though
Erik Johnson Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I think they closed it this summer so I could be denied the credit. Oh well I guess another trip next year is in order.
pkdcoaster Posted August 19, 2006 Author Posted August 19, 2006 I think they closed it this summer so I could be denied the credit. Oh well I guess another trip next year is in order. And Erik I hear they might be building a new coaster down the road next year. Wouldn't that be cool!!!! JEFF
QueerRudie Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 WHOOHOOO!!!!! Glad to see that one of the better rides at PKD will has opened up and begun to blast again!

Anyway, who really knows except for Paramount, which doesn't matter anymore. With that said, I'm glad to see FOF up and running and lets hope for a new coaster soon.
Gnome Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Removing a major ride to be re-located is just as expensive as putting one up. I believe you are wrong there. Since the track has already been fabricated, thier is no need for any extra money to be spent in doing such. Fabrication of track and mechanics is where the main bulk of the price tag comes. Where it would be expensive to still relocate it, it wouldn't be as expensive.

IMO FOF is a much more bigger project than Stealth #1- the building is huge, I am not sure if it was relocated they would try to move the building but I will factor it in there for the hell of it. quite a few A/C units and power to run that. #2- The Power-Miles and Miles of power lines, over 100 lims, a few transformers. not the easiest thing to "hook up" either #3 The ride itself- All that track in a VERY tight space (even tighter space now with all of the evac. platforms installed) The amount of man hours and techniques to cut all that track and keep it in a re-usable condition for the next location. Maybe not cheaper but probably REALLY close in price. Contractors that build "high Steel" charge alot of money. Stealth IMO is a Much Much easier ride to relocate JEFF
